And we also saw a beautiful picture of you. Was that in Sweden? I think somebody said you were in Sweden.
Spain and Spain.
Spain. That's what it was. It was somewhere. Yeah.
I mean, it's been crazy. When I told my husband I have this little summit I want to attend. And it's three days. It's about three or four hours a day. And he's like, perfect, we're going to be here. And then something happened in our family. If we were driving from Portugal to Spain the next day from Spain to France and back to Spain. Then we went from Spain to Andorra, a tiny little country right in between Spain and France and back. My husband is driving fast through tunnels, like, sweetie, it's okay.
It's being recorded. Oh my gosh.
And I said, I need, I need a picture. Like, do we choose a mountain? America? And he's looking. It was so cute. Anyway, so finally we like, we chose our favorite mountain, Montaneza.
So I love it.
Thank you for being here.
Yeah, thank you. This is fantastic. I think Shane's doing an author launch kit kind of hot seat with you. So thank you for grabbing your license. And I also think you had some fun with the Internet getting your form filled out. But it's all done now, so we're.
Choosing 30 minutes afterwards. And I'm like. And I'm timing it, but I want to do the right answers. And I. And at the end it just said like, come. I don't know what it was. Distribution, other distribution needed and like other distribution. And I'm going through all the pages. I filled out everything. I couldn't figure it out. It's midnight and I thought, screenshot like Angela, no, they're so tired. They were doing this summit. I'm not going to bother them. Then I did it today and it was just adding the other Amazon.
Yeah. I said to Angela when I saw the screenshot, it's just one. One piece of information was missing. That's the only thing.
Tiny, tiny fault. But anyways.
Well, thank you. I am going to remove myself from screen. You're in great hands with Shane. But this is also going to, I believe, answer some of the questions that people have had about will this work outside of the U.S. because yeah, Wende's not in the U.S. right now. I am not in the U.S. so I'll let you two take it away. But thank you again for being here.
Wendy, so happy to be joining.
Thanks. Yeah, of course. Really nice to meet you. I'm Shane. We haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet. Head of digital strategy at Book Launchers. I've been working on the author launch kit for the past year. And I'm so happy that you got a license in there, and I'm going to be able to walk through this with you. What was your presentation?
I thought, I'm not leaving the presentation, the summit, and the minute it's over, I'm getting it. So it was your presentation also.
Amazing. Amazing. I appreciate your commitment to making the summit as well, even though it's all recorded and you watch it on Sunday. But we appreciate you being here live and showing up here. So I'd love to start out with. Maybe you can give a little introduction into who you are and maybe what your book is about and your journey as an author so far.
Okay. So my name is Wendy Claire Manjean. Manjean means eating in French because my husband is French. Very quickly, why I'm in Europe. Was backpacking through Europe at 25 in Spain, crossed the street, met a guy who made me laugh, and I never went home. Three kids and 35 years later, I'm still here. And we've lived Spain, France, Portugal, and now moving to Andorra. And during this whole journey, I've been writing, just writing, writing, writing. But it all came together several years ago when my daughter was in high school, the last of our three children, and she asked me to be a guest speaker at her health class. And she said, mom, everybody's so nervous for the IB exams and everybody's very stressed, and I just need you to come in and kind of do one of your fun sessions. And I brought the manuscript that I hadn't finished and read the first story called holding the Peace and Telling Kids. We all have these life skills that we all already have. We just forget to use them sometimes. And thinking clearly in a crisis will help us get through a difficult moment. And I just read the teeny, tiny little short story out loud, and kids came up to me afterwards, oh, where can we buy the book that's been so helpful? And my daughter received for weeks afterwards, kids coming up to her in the hallway, oh, my gosh. I had this little moment where I really held the peace and something really bad was going to happen. And I thought, wow, it was like kind of a little pebble in the water that the rings kept going out. And finally my daughter said before she left for university, finish your book. I need it. We need it. So finally I have my book. It's called Little Moments.
Da, da da da da.
There it is.
Amazing. The COVID looks great.
Thank you the COVID was inspired by a sunset here in Boltania during a storm where there was suddenly a hole in the sky. The sun came through as it was setting in this black sky and it was illuminated in orange for like two minutes and then it was gone. And I was like. But I saw that it was just reminding us of all the wisdom in the world. So that's where that came from. And I self published it with Scribe Media, which was a dream process and then thought it would market itself. And I won't go back to all the things I have learned in this summit, but I thought, yes, having a website and getting it on Amazon and maybe Goodreads and sending out to everybody who ever knew who loved me. And it's just sitting there. And it suddenly occurred to me when I went to the London Book Fair and I went to a bookstore and saw that there were probably a million books in the six floors, that my little book was like Nemo. It was one little book in an ocean of millions. How would I find somebody from the street to even come into the bookstore to find my one tiny little book? And that's when I got my little aha moment and thought probably I should spend my energy on finding my target audience and marketing. And I think I put that question in the Internet and Julie the book broad came up and with her first little video I was hooked.
The rest is here I am amazing. That is such a great story. Thank you so much for sharing. Yeah. And we're so glad that you found us. We're trying, you know, we have been building this community, we of self published authors, we're trying to connect authors with the tools that they need to succeed and do all of these things themselves. And that's why the, that's why we created the author launch kit. You know, it's like hiring, you know, a marketing pro and marketing, you know, getting a marketing assessment and literally, you know, showing you step by step what to do next and then generating these items with AI. So I'm going to walk through everything with you in this session and yeah, so I'm actually going to share my screen and we'll get that up and going.
After I bought it yesterday, I felt like it was suddenly Christmas and I had this huge package to open and I have all the goodies still yet to discover. So this is fun.
Yeah, of course. So yeah, this is Wendy's websites. She's a mother, filmmaker and author in that order. And we can see her book down here. The. It's called Little Moments. I actually have it pulled up on Amazon as well. So we could share this tab and okay, it looks like we have eight, five star reviews on there. It's looking pretty good. We have a good book description. You know the title, Little moment, True Stories, big Life Lessons, the. That's awesome. And yeah, we got two different versions on there, paperback and Kindle. So cool. And so I'm actually logged into Wendy's author launch kit account right now. And when you look inside of this author launch kit, it can be overwhelming at first. Like what I mentioned, you know, if you were to hire a marketing analyst to do all of this for you, if you were to hire book launchers to do all of your marketing for you, these are literally the things that we would start, that would start out with and help you grow over time with. So there's a lot of different tools in here and we have them separated through all these different tabs. So we have Mission Control, which outlines. We have a 10 step book marketing roadmap which is what I'm going to go through with you on this call. And then also we're going to do. You can find an ideal reader analysis. We can get a custom social media posting schedule so we can schedule out content for you for weeks to come. Download an email newsletter, templates, Amazon bestseller strategies, get inspired by influencers and browse local media outlets as well. So that's Mission Control. That's where the software will land you first. And then we have platform plan. And I went through all of this on day two. This is everything that you build your author platform. You know, the things that you don't really think about when you're, when you're marketing your book. It's, you know, okay, you can get the word out there and you can publish a book and do all of these things, but where are these people gonna find you? Where, you know, where are they gonna come from? Where are they gonna go when you send them somewhere? You know, you have to have a website, you have to have a platform for them to actually see. Then we have a whole session on promoting yourself in the media, creating a media kit to promote yourself to podcasts, to media outlets and people who are willing to get your book out there into the world, who have audiences already. We'll recommend the podcast, we'll recommend these TV and radio recommendations based on your location. We also have research. Rocket research is a critical piece of the marketing process. We need to know who these people are, who is buying your book, what are they searching for and what influencers will you need to Connect with or to, you know, get your message out there. And what local bookstores and libraries can you connect with? Who, who can shelve your book? Social Media Supernova. Obviously this is a huge portion of book marketing as well. Social media is where people find new people. It's where, you know, connections are made and we can really get the word out there about everything. So we're going to be able to generate blog posts, ideas and full BL blog posts based on your book's content. We have that, that content calendar we mentioned earlier, video topic suggestions based on the platform that you use. And then we're also going to have sales system session. You know, book sales are great. We want to show you how to generate some Amazon bestseller strategies. We publish new books on a weekly basis, you know, multiple books a week, tons. And we always help our authors, you know, a lot of them want to achieve that Amazon bestseller status. So we steps to kind of get you to that, that point in your process, you know, during your pre launch and even after launch, you know, marketing efforts for afterwards, how to get bulk orders for your book. You know, doing speaking events and getting people who want to buy 50, 100, 200 versions of your not versions, but copies of your book. We have steps on how to do that and then how to advertise your book as well. And then inside of the Explore Resources tab, these are all of the companies that book entrust partners with. And to help promote your book we have, you know, publisher rocket that will generate that will help you find the right keywords for your book and really dive deep into the metrics and the analytics of what people are searching for and how you can utilize that information. We have ConvertKit, it's actually called Kit now they change, they rebrand it. But this is a email marketing tool that we always recommend Publish drive alliance of independent authors. So these are all like either affiliate links or just links to the resources that we always tell authors to work with. So again in the same vein as like we are trying to connect authors to all of these different platforms because they're all out there, all the information to market your book is out there. And we just wanted to create a tool that connects authors with that and shows them how to do it step by step because it's a marathon marketing is there's so many things you can possibly do. And the Julie the Book bot really is that 247 assessment. You can ask Julie the Book by any question. All of our ABA members and everyone who has access to Julie the Book bot is Just blown away by the quality of, of answers that it gives. So anything that's generated inside of Author Launch Kit, you can actually ask Julie the book by the. Any question. You know, what do I do with this media kit? What do I do?
I think my kids are going to be a little concerned when I tell them that my new best friend is Julia.
The book.
Book.
They're going to be like, you have been alone too long writing your book.
Yeah, no, it really is, it's impressive and it's, it is like talking with Julie herself. There actually is an option to call her as well. If you want to have late, late night phone conversations with her. You can do that.
Have that little thought. Wait, am I actually waking her up?
Yeah, she's like getting notifications and a full transcript. No, but, but, okay, anyway, so enough about everything that you can do inside of Author Launch Kit. So it is, it's overwhelming. There's so many different things in here. But we organized this very first step, which is this 10 step book marketing roadmap that guides you through. Like this is what I would recommend doing once you get into Author Launch Kit is following these 10 steps. So the first thing, if you were to hire us, we would perform a reader analysis on your book. Who is your ideal reader? What are their common pain points and what is a solution framework from your book? How can you solve their problems? Who is your target audience and what is their psychographic profile? What channels do they typically find themselves on? How do you engage with those people? We have a competitor analysis as well that shows, like, what other successful titles in your niche does. So this is really, you know, laying the foundation of, okay, how do I start to promote my book? How like, like, you don't just want to, you know, spray fire all of your, all of your marketing to everybody because your book isn't for everybody. We learned that, We've learned that in the past two days. It's for your niche audiences, for the people who, you know, are really going to resonate with your book and are going to read your book and they are going to share it with the people that they love. They're going to share it with the people who they think it's going to help. So like, use your time, use your effort and your energy toward those people because that's who you're going to be helping and that's who is going to share your message. Become your true fan. Buy both versions of your book and tell everybody about it. You know, so this is step one is find out who Your ideal reader is. And this all saves in here, Wendy, by the way. So nothing's going to get lost after I do this, you know, by the way, it's all going to be in here.
Okay.
And then step two would be to know your metadata. So again with. With research.
So funny. I'm sorry.
Yeah, all the thumbnails.
If anybody had ever told me that marketing was this hard or daunting, I'm not sure I would have set out to write a book. So I'm kind of glad I didn't know. And you feel so alone out there. There's so much information and you really don't know what to do. And literally when I found book launchers, I thought, oh my gosh, I'm not alone anymore. I have this whole family helping me. But it's still some parts of it sound like they're not going to be fun. You guys make it fun. You make it fun and you make it funny. And this photographs and videos. I just have to say a shout out, bless you. Because honestly, you are making a process that is almost as bad as teeth pulling.
Fun.
That is.
You are.
That is amazing. That is amazing. We might be using some of that testimonial right there somewhere else so we can tell everybody else the great things we're doing over here at Buckle entries. But yeah, I mean this is, this is what we do every day. So we try and make it, try and make it enjoyable and you know, we love helping self published authors succeed. So but yeah, I mean and, and the communities, the community aspect of it as well. Like what you just said, like we're trying to make it fun, we're trying to make it engaging and interactive and sometimes marketing can be t pulling. There's so many things to do. So this, you know, the author launch kit will generate these things for you and literally tell you step by step what to do. And then the communities Author business accelerator and then our free community in school is there you're able to connect with other authors who are literally in the same boat as you. So you know, trying to create an environment for all self published authors to succeed. And yeah, this is kind of the bridge to do that. So anyway, we have the keyword and category research generated for your book based on everything that you uploaded in your launch assessment. We have keywords that you can use for Amazon. So this, these keywords are generated from what is actually being searched in that Amazon search bar at the top. So this is what people are looking for. Modern life tips, easy life hacks, stress Stress relief tips, joy in daily life, like things that people are searching for. Then we have SEO keywords for Google. These are keywords that you'd want to plug into your website somehow. You know, use them in titles, use them as names for images. You know, use them, create blog posts around a specific keyword, you know, and it just gives you more and more opportunities to organically rank for all of these things. Then we have keywords based on their type. We have just identifying certain pain points that your readers are having. Keywords that people are trying to find a solution to their problem. What are they searching for? Emotional amplifiers, Demographic keywords, Kindle categories. There's so many things on here, it's mind boggling. It is. And you don't have to use every single one of these. It's really. We give you all of these options so that you can kind of pick and choose the ones like, okay, I can write something about. I can write something for first time parents. Okay, I can, you know, I can touch on some teen and young adult content on my website and I think it'd be really valuable to my audience. So this is really just kind of the launch pad. This isn't like, do all of these things and you'll succeed. It's like, pick the ones that will, you know, yield you the most benefit and make your message, you know, the loudest. Make your message, I guess, resonate with your audience the most. And also we have these helpful videos to explain what all of this is and give context to all of these things that are being generated. So trying to guide you all in the right direction, Step three would be to audit your book cover. How does your book cover compare against everything else? Like you said, you found your book and it was like a Nemo in a bookstore. How does your book compare against. Yeah, how does your book compare against all of these other books that are out there in your niche? Take a look at your book alongside, you know, others that are appearing in the search results or like those carousels on Amazon. And personally, I think your cover seems really well done and it's bright and it's colorful and it does stand out. So I would say you're in a pretty good position.
Thank you so much. I did so much, as much research as I could. I went into as many bookstores as I could and I literally was taking pictures everywhere. And I'm thinking, what stands out, what is attractive? Because of course that's also, it's subjective, it's relative. What stands out to you or something else? But it Was fascinating to see how many choices there were and then to finally. I swear, I think I almost spent as much time designing the book cover and coming up with my second title as I did writing the book or the book description, those things.
Well, again, well, it clearly paid off. And, yeah, it looks like, you know, a lot of thought went into it. So I'd say step three, you're in good shape. But, you know, for anybody watching, if you feel that your book cover really doesn't stand out, it doesn't have to be bright orange, but, like, it should really, you know, articulate your message in a way that just makes sense. And it does. You know, you want it to stand out a little bit, you know, in comparison with all the other books. If you're writing a business book, the typical colors for business are, like, blue and white and, you know, black. But yeah, yeah, maybe stand out a little bit more. Maybe maybe change the status quo a little bit and make yourself stand out just a bit more. Then the next step would be to update your product description page, which sounds like you've. You've tried to do this multiple times already. Well, the author launch kit will generate two different book descriptions for you. We have a video from Julie explaining, you know, what a book, what a good book description has, and then we have one for the back of your book. And like, these prompts are written so that it really will articulate what your book is about and just, you know, just a short paragraph and also nail home those key points that your readers are looking for in your book.
I think that is going to be invaluable to people because not having had that when I was working with Scribe, who was so helpful to let me do as much as I wanted to, because I did, I realized I was trying to please my mother, my husband, my three kids, that everybody was changing it. And I thought, am I making my soup or a soup for everybody? And it's going to end up just to be warm water. And then. But the timeline was going. The scribe was like, we love you, but we need a book description. And it was so difficult. If I had had this, I'm sure it would have just been so much easier. So I'm already gonna shout out for that.
Window, oh, no.
No sirens yet. Tornado watches. Okay, okay. We're okay.
Yeah, Hopefully.
Hopefully we're not losing a tornado. That would be very scary. We'd have to send somebody out there to check on you. But the. The book descriptions that are generated in here using the same kind of templated book Descriptions that we use for all of our clients at book launches. We're ensuring that the ideal readers are seeing themselves in these book descriptions that are understanding that, okay, this book is for me and I know that I can resonate with this author and then just drive home what those key points are. We have five bullet points. Smile and laugh aloud with endorphin boosting stories. Rekindle your zest for life with humor. Infuse wisdom. Reconnect with 10 simple life skills that guide you through challenging moments. So it's literally showcasing. I mean, are those pretty spot on for your book?
Yeah, actually, it's just a little annoying that they're smarter than I am and cleverer than I am and more poetic than I am. So I hope I'm not going to be replaced too soon by AI no.
No, nobody's being replaced. And we're, we're big advocates for the, the human aspect of things. We're just using these tools to emphasize our humanization. Humanization. That work.
Okay.
But. Okay, so continuing going down the line, we also. Oh, audit your author platform. That was all of day two. So I went through every single one of these. And like, for your website in particular, let's take a look. I'm not sure. Do you have any sort of. Do you do any sort of email marketing or promotion?
I don't, I don't have. That is my next thing up there on my list, besides doing an audiobook is to start to get an email list together. I may steal it from my children or from friends or I love book launchers idea that you go with somebody else who already has a list who aligns with, with your values and what you have to offer and how you're serving things. But that's. I do not. Yeah, I'm really at the beginning of this process.
Yeah, no, of course. And that's, that's totally okay. And I'm glad that we found each other so we can.
And my daughter did my website and my daughter, she said, you cannot launch your book without a website. I'm like, girl, I have no idea. She's like, I got this and she did it in a day. And I think it's amazing.
Amazing. No, it looks great. It really does. And yeah, I mean, I think you already teed yourself up with, with a great name for a newsletter. You can just call it Little Moments. Like, I think the, the book itself, obviously, you know, it plays on that, but you can call it Little Moments and have it be a very short form.
I would love to do I would.
Love to do something, something like that.
How much to give away or not to give away? Do you give away one story? Do you give away just the title, the table of contents, which is already on Amazon in newsletters, or is that always just a furthering of what you're offering your community?
Well, you could take a page out of Alex's book and his presentation yesterday is give away everything.
Which I would do.
That sounds, that sounds scary. It sounds scary. But, you know, but to bring up James Clear again, I thought a really great idea that he used on his website is, you know, he has tons of. He has like a hundred articles on there. I believe it's like 100 articles. It's like, it's titled something 100 best 100 articles you'll ever read or something like that. And if you go read them, you know, they read like blog posts that are on his website and it's, you know, as you're scrolling down, just reads like a blog post, but then at the very top and bottom it says this has, this is an excerpt directly from my book Habits. Yeah. And that's all it is. And then it's just a link to go buy his book. So it's. That's a fantastic idea. You're basically just piecemealing your book out there. You know, you don't have to give away the entire book or everything, you know, all at once, you know, ever, because then they can just go read your book on the website. However, it's a really great tactic. You know, just, you know, you want to provide value. You want to get your messaging out there and not everybody's going to go read every single thing on your posts, every single thing on your blog. So, you know, you just need to connect with somebody one time and give them the opportunity to go buy your book. And that's, you know, I would say would be the main takeaway here is, you know, give away everything. It just, you don't have to literally upload a PDF and say, here's my book.
Yeah, but like a couple stories or something. I thought, you know, give away a story or make a little video. I haven't ever done that. Like me reading one story because they're very tiny. They're 11 to 3 pages. Pages there that you can read them in a few minutes.
Yeah, exactly. So I want to see what, what lead magnet ideas this will generate for you and I want to see if any of them you think you would get excited about like making and you would be excited about like giving away on your website and like promoting it on podcasts, you know, media appearances and stuff. So here is the ideas that we have. So we have a Joyful Reflections checklist, a downloadable checklist, 10 joyful reactions to reflections of brighten your day. Then we have a Mindfulness in Minutes video series. So it looks like each episode is a three minute practice that viewers can easily integrate into their busy lives. Really quick digestible content that you can use and that's something you can utilize social media for. Little Moments Ebook sampler Free downloadable ebook sampler containing selected stories and few chapters from Little Moments. You could give away a few chapters, but I don't know. I'd say I don't know if that's a really strong one. You could do a webinar life skills infographic, Little Moments Storytelling challenge, Day of Mindfulness calendar.
I love the thought of just offering a little moment. I mean, I don't know if it's every day, but when I started to talk to the few people who had read the book, they're like, wow, just I'm awake more to Little Moments in my day. And of course that has started conversations and I'm getting little, little post, little videos, little comments back of, of thanking me for waking them up to Little moments in their day. And that seems to be growing.
Yeah, yeah, of course. I think that's, that's your brand right there. The Little Moments. That's. That's where you're going to want to build that platform on and expand through that. Okay. So and also if you don't like any of these 10, you can literally just hit this regenerate button and it'll give you 10 new ideas. And you can do that in unlimited amount of times on every any portion of this author Launch Kit software. Yes, we have those. We can write you an author bio as well. We can do new title subtitle. We're not going to do that because we like Little Moments. We're sticking with Little Moments. And it also like, you know, it'll create that lead magnet and then when you're ready to do those email marketing pieces, it'll write you that email sequence as well. All based on your book, all relevant to your messaging and all of that. So going back to the ten step plan here. So we so all right, so we have now performed a reader analysis. We know your metadata, we've done your research, we've audited your book cover. Cover looks great. We've updated your product description, your book description page and now we can audit your author platform. You Put all these pieces together and you're ready to go. Okay, now you have all of these pieces in place. You know, here's all that back end marketing work that you're working so hard on that takes so much time. We just saved literally hours of content writing just already like in step five here. So then we're going to actually work on your sales strategy. So off launch kit, well, of course we have a video from Julie with a great thumbnail and we're going to give you literally a step by step guide on like how to, you know, achieve that bestseller status or at least like, you know, position your book so that you can get to it. It's not guaranteed, but we'll definitely get you there and give you some strategies to do that piece. We have information here on how to get bulk sales and you know, get your book out there to people who want to buy multiple versions of your book. Then we also have tips and tutorials on how to advertise your book with links on all of those pieces and some information there. So now that your platform's built and you've done all your research, now it's time to promote get the book out there. Then we can create a content plan. This is like, this is, you know, can be, I guess tedious like writing blog posts and creating social media contact content on there like regularly. However, you know, this is the beauty of author launch kit is it does all these pieces for you. So this will generate blog post ideas and you can actually just hit create blog article and it will write that blog article for you and then you can download it and make any tweaks you want to it. And yeah, it's pretty amazing. So it's just automatic content that you can put right onto your website and start ranking organically for those specific topics. So I'm sharing this tab because this is what it just generated. This is a blog post. So discover joy and little moments with Wendy Claire Mangent.
Your last name looks French too.
Yeah, it is French. I don't pronounce it like that. I just do Vision. But if I want to be fancy, it'll be vision.
It would be vision.
Exactly.
We have the same last letters, my friend.
I know. Not very common, but yeah. Okay, so it'll generate blog content ideas. It'll give you 10 ideas right there and then also the week by week content calendar. So based on the social media channels that you selected, it will generate content for a few weeks. I think it's 30 different post ideas to keep your content relevant and also we always have a video from Julie explaining. But this is something, I think it's a really powerful piece inside of the author launch kit just because it's so hard to be creative and try and stand out in such a noisy world of social media. So now we have, okay, here's a date that we recommend posting. Except that date, it doesn't look right. We have platform, the content description, some visual and video suggestions, what the post goal is, is it engagement traffic or, or like conversions, what hashtags you can use and then additional notes from there. So all those pieces are all set. Now you have a week by week content calendar and then we can generate video topic suggestions as well. And then, so after all of these pieces are done, then we do media and partnerships and all of this stuff. So. So again, yeah, I mean there's a lot of things on here. Marketing is a marathon, but this is really just designed to just walk you through step by step and if you were to hire a pro, like these are all the things that we would do for you. So now you have the tools.
No, I feel like I've just won the lottery. This is. You never leave this room.
Yeah, there's just so much.
It's an.
It's.
It's. Yeah, I guess. Can't believe I didn't find you guys sooner, but I found you. So we'll just, this is a. We'll just celebrate this month.
Yes, there's video, video content ideas. So video titles, it gives you description, platform specific suggestions like based on YouTube, TikTok or Instagram Reels, like what you should do for each video so you're never starting from a blank slate. You know, this is going to recommend all of these pieces and, and yeah, I mean anybody watching you can get access to all of this as well. We do a hundred dollars a year or $249 for lifetime. And we are going to be updating this with as the AI, you know, improves and as it becomes more and more powerful, we're just going to keep and new features into here. So lifetime is probably your best bet just because you'll get those updates and we're giving away promos.
I can't even believe your price. I literally had to go put on my glasses because I thought there's a typo. Like that's not that. I'm like, no, for sure.
It's.
It's something else there.
That's.
It's insane.
No, yeah.
And I so appreciate it, truly.
We'll take note of that. We'll have to Raise it.
Then, guys. Get it. Get it now. That was the plan.
I appreciate.
Yeah. Oh, sorry. I was just gonna say, can you click on one of the media or the bookstores or something like that?
Just.
Just so people can see what kind of results they're getting outside of the US Because I also have. Wait.
Me or Shane starting.
Yeah, yeah.
I'll click on it inside of your system because.
Can I just say how grateful I am? Can I just say how grateful I am that all of this still applies to me? Because I think my kids are like, mom, why did you launch your book without all the things around it? I'm like, I didn't launch my book. It just got published. I didn't have a chance to do anything because I didn't know how to do anything now. But that was eight months ago. And so I'm like, well, it's not getting old. It's not getting dusty. It's not getting bad. I just haven't. I don't know what to do next. And the flame of like, I wrote a book, I finished a book. I can hold it, it's published. Then suddenly. And to realize that kind of. It's like the Christmas Carol. Christmas hasn't happened yet. I feel that I still have the chance to do everything because I haven't done anything yet. And so suddenly, what was so daunting is I don't even know where to begin. I don't even know enough to feel so lost. Suddenly I just feel like everything is possible. And that feels really good. So it doesn't matter that it kind of came out eight months ago and that nobody in the world knows about it. Everything is the beginning now with you guys. So.
Yeah. I'm so happy to hear that part of your family. Oh, Sarah says she's tearing up. She's so happy for you, Wendy. And thank you for this. And. And so. Yes. So just wanted to thank you for showing this, Shane, because we haven't actually tested it for international, but I assumed this would work and it has. It's all based on your inputs. Yeah, it's all based on your.
Absolutely.
I was in Portugal and I asked the question that I moved to Spain and France and I'm telling everybody and it's absolutely international.
Yes. Wonderful. Thank you. Thanks, Jane. Sorry, I'll leave you guys alone. But I just wanted to come on and ask. Cause I was curious.
Yeah, totally, totally. Go for it. Yeah. So it is recommending everything in Portugal. So these are some local libraries and bookstores near where you are located. So that you can reach out to. It has their website URL, the contact person that is just listed on the website, whoever it may be, and then some additional details as well. And I think I want to showcase like the relevant influencers piece as well because this is a big piece of marketing and something that we touched on today is like connecting with influencers in your space, even if they're just micro influencers. So here's some recommended people who are relevant on the web that the AI, you know, decided that this is relevant for your book. You know, it says a reason for why you're a fit with this person, the point of commonality. So why, you know, like, you know how you can kind of make that connection, their contact info and their social media handles and links so you can reach out to them, you can connect with them and then any additional notes like recent collaborate, collaborations with wellness brands, host popular podcasts on personal development. So these are all, you know, this is just going to give you that head start in there and, and the AI will not make this stuff up. These are real people, these are real influencers, these are people that you can be reaching out to. So yeah, really, I mean there's so many different avenues you can go down. Marketing is a beast in itself. There's so many different things you can do. But yeah, the idea is that Authenticate is going to connect you with all of these tools so that you can start putting these pieces together at a very low price.
Incredible.
Yeah. But is there anything in particular that you kind of want some help with or, or anything in the author launch kit that you were wanting me to go through with you? I mean that was essentially what wanted to show you was that ten step marketing plan and kind of outline where you can go and get started and hit the ground running right now.
Yeah, no, I think there's so much to still go through and do. What's lovely is that it's just, it's so clear, it's so the next step just comes out of the step you've just taken. And I think that's what's so lovely that I don't think I'm going to get lost in here. I'm actually really excited and there was never the chance I would use the word excited when I thought about marketing. It really was like almost was making me upset in my stomach. How could it have been so much fun to get to the end of the book? Because for me writing is lovely and so I haven't had the writer block. The turmoil came coming up with the book description and the second title and started realizing, oh, this is not going to be easy. But the whole idea of marketing and promoting and selling has been so difficult and kind of soul crushing in one point that I really, I think I kind of put it down for a little while thinking I just need to kind of re regenerate and recenter my energy. And this is literally when I found Julie and the whole Book Launchers family and to be excited about it really. I couldn't fall asleep. Last night was about 2 in the morning after I sent the assessment and bought that kit because there's so much to read now and learn and it's lovely and I don't think it sounds selfish to say it's all because it's for this book. It's all related to my book and trying to get this out into the world and anybody who does it will be that for them that finally wherever you walk, you know, the sunshine or the moonlight is falling on you and it's not for you but you get to be in its. In its light. And to have it like this is just amazing. I'm excited to do this. Totally.
You all heard it here.
Astonished and amazed too. So when you said the last things you were reading, it gets the perfect fit and why and everything, I'm like, wow, it's like the perfect dating app for my book and the audience to come.
Yeah, I guess we could start marketing it as that. It's the dating app for authors and it's crazy.
Like swipe. It's like that's it. There you are. You are my perfect fit.
Yeah. Amazing. Well, yeah. Wendy, you have been an amazing guest. Thank you so much for being on this hot seat. I am going to throw your website up on the screen so everybody can go and find wendy@wendymanjon.com and again, thank you so much for being on here. I hope you get a lot of views out of the author launch kit and please join our communities and we can talk some more. And thank you so much.
I just feel that I, I'm now a part of the whole Book Launchers family and that's an amazing thing. So bless you all.
Of course. You, you are absolutely welcome, welcome and we're happy to have you here.
Everybody else join us too.
Okay.
Awesome. Thank you. Oh, I love that. She was awesome. A great, great demo, Shane. Thank you. I am going to just really quick. I want to talk through the pricing really quick just because everybody has asked lots of questions about it. So I made a little slide. Nothing super Fancy. Where's my view? And I'm going to do it. Do what Sarah does. And I'm going to do it from the current slide. Let's do it. There we go. I learned from Sarah. Okay, so yearly $100. And I saw the questions. Do we get updates with the year within the year of that license? Yes, all updates. We're not so fancy as to be like, you get updates but you don't. And you get updates, but you don't. Oh, not that fancy, you guys. If we make an update and your license is valid, you will get the update. And I shouldn't say if I should say when we make updates because there will be ongoing updates. You know, I have a big, long wish list, dream list. And I'm sure Shane does. And I already told other people, send us your feedback and your ideas and we will try to build the absolute best tool. I mean, it already is the best tool because I pretty sure it's the only tool that does all the things that we do. But we're going to make it the best for life. So. All right, so lifetime access. I do believe this is your best bet right now. It's never going to be this cheap. And lifetime means as long as we have this product, you will have access. So. And today for this weekend, so this is available until Sunday, you can also add three months of our author business accelerator community for $149. It is $150 a month to be part of that community. So after the three months, if you want to keep going, that's $150 a month at that point. But for three months of access, which will give you a lot of support and office hours and training and community and all of the things. It is only $149 when you get the lifetime access today, so you get to save $300 on author business accelerator when you purchase the lifetime access. And then also, Shane is going to do a marketing assessment for your book. I think it's Shane. He's the one that put that on here. So I'm pretty sure it's him. Him. He volunteered himself. So that also is massive value. As you have seen Shane go through things. He's really smart, really clever with what he can offer you and your book. So that is for the lifetime license. And. And people were saying, when's the price going up? One of the. The bonuses are going away on June 22. The lifetime access price. We haven't fully committed to raising the what the price will be raised to, but this is only Launch price. Price. So I'm considering June, our launch month price is going to go up June 30th. Don't know exactly what the price is going to go up to yet, but it will go up. Oh, sorry, back up. And then your yearly access, the. This is also a launch price and so the price of the yearly access will also go up. You are grandfathered in. So when you get the year license at $99, when it renews next year, it won't be the 149 or the 199 that it is, it will be. So you're grandfathered in at that price for as long as you want, but you can see two and a half years in. You would have been better off to have lifetime access. So I do strongly recommend lifetime access because that is just a phenomenal deal that we're offering right now. But. But the lifetime or the annual license gets you a year of access to it for $99 and it will renew at 99 when it's time for renewal. So hopefully that answered all the pricing questions. Yeah, go ahead, Shane.
I was going to say. Yeah. And when you get Author Launch Kit and join one of our communities, you always have us to ask questions, ask clarifying questions, and help walk you through the Author Launch Kit as well. And when you sign up, I'll be doing onboarding sessions once every two weeks. So if you have questions, you can bring those questions to me where I can actually even log into your account if there's any issues or like if there's any confusion or you want some clarity on something. I can help you walk through some of those pieces if Julie the Bookbot can already answer them for me.
Right. I know Heather already said she's been using Julia the Book Bot so she doesn't have to ask me so many questions. But I do so enjoy the questions as well. But I'm happy that you can get an answer at any hour of the day because I am not up at 2:00am all right. So Angela, do we have questions? I kind of just thought Angela was going to magically appear. There she is.
I want to do that. You did answer some of the questions for sure. We got a couple others. Stacy asked if I can only afford to get the one year, can I also have the Author business accelerator option as well?
It's a bonus for the lifetime. So we have to honor all the folks that have already done the one year and just say it's a. It's a bonus only for the lifetime purchase. There is a seven Day trial. But that only gets you seven days in Author Business Accelerator.
Right? Exactly. Okay, let's see. We have had some other questions that we might want to save for the end, but here's another one actually, for Author Launch Kit specifically. Does my present subscription include Author Launch Kit, or should it be purchased separately?
What level is Mary Ellen at? What does she have?
I'm blanking off the top of my head. Let me see.
Sarah knows. I saw Sarah's mouth moving, but she. Platinum. Hi, Mary Ellen. Sarah do. So any of our Platinum and our Author Essentials. Anybody who's in our Platinum or Author Essentials, they get access to Author Launch Kit. Typically, we're giving it to you when you are done your end of your service, because our team is your Author Launch Kit right now. But if you want access sooner, I think that that's fine.
Okay. And then I think this is also a question that Joy had asked in relation to Author Launch Kit. So when a book has co authors, how does this work with using the software is what I'm assuming? Joy, let me know if that's not how you intended the question.
So right now, this is, you know, one license, one book. So that's all I could say there is, that it's one license, one book. So if it's co authors, you only have one license. So I would say both, actually.
Yeah. I mean, in the assessment, too, when you fill it, when you fill out the author assessment inside of Author Launch Kit, there is an option to add a co author. Author in there. So it'll include it in all of the marketing materials.
Yeah, yeah. So you'll, you'll have the materials from it, but it's. Yeah, it's not. It's geared. And besides, I mean, even with co authors, it's always funny because most of the time you're not going to have two people on a podcast interview. So one of you is going to be doing the podcast interview. Typically, same with media appearances. They're usually just going to have one of you. So it'll. It'll include both of you. But a lot of your outreach, you'll be featuring one of you and one in your story that you'll be talking about, generally speaking.
And Katrina's flagging some more for me.
They're coming in.
She also asked, does it have any collaboration features?
No. Send us your ideas. We'll work on phase two and phase three. So send us any ideas you have once you're in there.
Yeah.
Okay. John asked, how does the lifetime alk interact with the author Business Accelerator if you're already a subscriber to ada.
Well, they're very different but very complementary. So if you're already an Author Business Accelerator member, then you can add Author Launch Kit to it and they complement each other beautifully.
Okay, I think that's it as far as questions related to Author Launch Kit specifically.
Right. So now we were going to do our lifetime giveaway, I believe. So what we are going to do, because you have to be live right now to win this, we're going to do another hashtag. So what's our hashtag going to be?
Author Launch Kit.
Okay. Forward. Yes, of course, of course. Okay. So it has to be the whole word Author Launch Kit altogether if you want to be entered into our grand prize, which by the way, our grand prize is. Let me bring up the slide.
I just blanked.
What is our grand prize? Oh gosh, tell me. I've been doing this for three days without telling you. I've been doing this for three days, 24 minutes.
Okay.
And I say three days, but it's been months and like I don't even know how many hundreds of hours in the baking. Okay, grand prize. Lifetime access to Author launch kit. Six months of author business accelerator. 500 towards any of our services. A 45 minute marketing call altogether 1500 dollars value. So it is our grand prize. And let us see. I'm giving you a minute to enter. Getting everybody just. We'll just drag our feet for a second, guys.
This one.
Yeah. While they're doing that, what's been your favorite takeaway from the last three days? You guys, Shane, Sarah, Angela, Katrina. Behind the scenes. Yeah.
You know what really stuck out to me was what Alex Sanfilippo was talking about.
Give it all away.
Don't hold it back. Give it all away. You know, you're gonna have a better return on that than you will by just sort of breadcrumbing things. So, you know, and it definitely made me think about some of the other things that I see people do and whether or not it's a good strategy. But yeah, I thought that was a, an interesting take on it.
Great one.
Personally, I really liked Nich Nick Hutchison's presentation and, and somebody asked a question, you know, in his Q and A saying, you know, you know, I'm kind of behind the scenes person. I don't really want to get myself out there. Like how do you like, like what advice would you give to somebody who's kind of private and they don't really want to get themselves out there? And he Immediately just said, you know, just. Just do it. Like, just get it out there. You know, do a selfie video of yourself and promote it out there. He even offered to share and, like and comment on that post. And it really just. It just, you know, shows that anybody can do this. Anybody can get started. And I think that was just like, you know, I guess what he was saying was, you know, if you don't like to do it, just try it. But, yeah, I guess you never really know if you're going to like it until you try it. And you never know if you're going to succeed unless you actually get yourself out there and tell people. People about your book and about your message. So I thought his presentation was great.
Yeah, I'm going to take two really quickly. Also, along the lines with Nick, be human. That. That conversation about being human, even though this is heavily using AI, that doesn't mean you're taking the human element out of you, out of your brand, out of your book. I think that's huge. Also right now with Shane and Wendy being able to see how quickly this was generating. I mean, you guys, come on. How quickly that was all put together for you with the lists of places where she could reach out to in Portugal so this can work in other areas of the world. So just. That's. That's amazing. That took minutes. That whole session was what, like 30 minutes, 40 minutes? And she already got a ton of information.
Now she has a whole marketing plan to spend all of her. All of her night with.
Yeah, that's huge.
Katrina, what about you?
Yeah, so again, also really liked Nick's presentation, but the thing that I loved the most that he said was around really connecting with those niche smaller podcasts that, like, they are the ones who.
Are gonna fight for you and work for you. And I don't know, I just.
I really loved that. Yeah, that's huge. Julie, you want to share one? Oh, you're muted.
You're.
You're muted.
You're muted.
Oh, my gosh.
You're still muted.
Something happened.
You unplugged yourself.
Okay, Julie doesn't get to share. Julie doesn't get to share.
This is the most anticipation for. For this grand prize. So let's see. Do you want me to wait, Julie, until you can speak?
He's got different AirPods on.
Can you hear me now? Yay.
Okay.
You always have to have a backup. I do not know why my headphones stopped working. All of a sudden. Katrina's mouth was moving and I didn't hear anything like I don't know, there's been so many takeaways. But I think for me, I think my takeaway is. And I was already thinking about it before this, but I want to get the community together more often. So, you know, not just our Tuesday lives, which are great, and our deep dives, which are great. But I think I want to have more in person things, get people together face to face. But don't worry. All of our, you know, folks like Tony, I mean, we probably should do something in Europe, but someday I can't travel.
I can.
Yeah, yeah. But someday we'll do something over there. But short term, maybe something in person in the United States. But I think it's great bringing everybody together and it's filled me with so much joy and gratitude for everyone who is here and for the team and all the work that we do. So thank you.
Awesome.
All right, should we do the draw?
Yes.
Yes.
All right, I've already got the hashtag in there. Let me just share my screen now. So again, this was for. If you didn't put it in there. This is your absolute last chance. But hashtag author launch kit for the grand prize. And let's see. Eric, come on. You can't like actually be waiting. You've got like three seconds.
Eric, get in there. Get in there, Eric.
I can't believe after all that we gave you guys so long. I know. You took a long time.
Time. All right, let us see who this is.
This is longer than my drum roll.
Kathy.
All right, man.
Triple whammy. She gets aba alk and she's a person. That's amazing.
Congratulations and thank you for being here. That's amazing. So you know where to find Angela, but just email Angela. She'll hook you up.
Awesome. Yay. Okay, are we doing more prizes?
Yep, we have one more prize that we'll do and then we. I basically think we have open Q and A time. Final wrap up. We have a few things to final wrap up, some takeaways. I'm just checking our slides here to see what else we have not done yet. Yeah, we just have a few wrap ups and questions. So we are almost there, you guys. And let's do one more prize and then we will do the wrap up and then you guys will. I'll stay for as long as people have questions, which I may regret saying, but I think you guys are as tired as we are. So. So okay, next prize. Let's see who our next winner is. Oh, you'll need to know. Hold on. You'll have to redraw because that's only going to pull from Author Launch Kit people. Like the people who did.
No, I took the hashtag out.
Oh, did you? Okay, I thought you just hit draw.
No, I. I refreshed the screen.
Okay, cool.
It's the same number, though.
Suspicious. They did that to me yesterday too. I'm not totally sure because there was 77 and then it went down to 40 something yesterday. Suspicious. Michelle. Yay. Congratulations. All right, let's see what you get to take home today. She's one of our newest members in Author Business Accelerator.
Michelle, you are lucky, lucky weekend.
All right, let's see. And she won yesterday. Is that what you're saying, Angela?
Yeah.
Author Launch Kit journal. Yay. Awesome. Okay, so you've already got her information, so you can just send it to her with the rest. I know.
Yeah, once those journals come in, I'll send her the shirt and the journal at the same time. Okay. Are we doing another?
No, I think that was it. I think we did all our prizes for the day.
All right, can you check your notes?
Did we do five? I thought we did five.
Let me see. Yes, yes, we have done five. And then the grand prize. So six.
Okay, awesome. Let's do the wrap up and then, you know, everybody can. Can leave except for me or Angela if Angela wants to stay. But I'm sure she's ready to collapse too. And we'll do Q and A until you guys stop asking questions. Okay. Sorry. Where's my slides? Here we go. And current slides. Play from current slides. Slide. Okay, so three days of fun and the replays, because I've seen the question repeatedly. It will be there essentially until Monday morning when Shane starts work again and takes them down. So I'm telling people Sunday just because, you know, I don't want them texting and calling and being like, what time does Shane wake up? So technically you have until Sunday night if you are not part of Author Business Accelerator to watch the replays. So they will be up until Sunday night and then they will be available for everybody in Author Business Accelerator. We're going to cut them up into segments so you don't have to scroll through four hours to find the part that you want. And we'll be posting them in Author Business Accelerator later this week so you'll have access to all of them inside of Author Business Accelerator. So that's the replays. But other than all of the amazing content now, after today, I hope you have at least one new idea to monetize your book. If not Many new ideas to monetize your book. You have seen how Author Launch Kit will help you. And I hope, I hope you've grabbed your license because again, we built this tool to help you and you could hire us to do all of this for you. But we wanted to create a tool that you can use without having to invest thousands and thousands of dollars. So we created this tool to help authors get their book into readers hands, which is what, you know, besides having books that aren't boring, our next thing that we are the most passionate about is making sure that you do all this work to produce a great book. And then that book helps you create an impact and income and really, really gets to the readers that you wrote it for. And now if your book has been out, you have ideas to revive your book and get it into the hands of more readers. Whether that's second edition. And we do do second editions and they're not, it's not super expensive to do a second edition. If you redo all the content, then you know, it's like producing a whole new book. But if you're only doing 20% refresh of the content and a new cover, you know those packages. I believe 3,000, $3,500 is what we do second editions for. But you can always email us and get that after or just do it yourself. You've got a lot of the ideas here of what to do and then market it. That's the big thing is don't just treat it like a repair job. Treat it like a relaunch and ultimately a little bit.
I'm so sorry you're a little staticky, but I don't want to mess up the audio for later.
Can Sarah do it? I don't know how. I'm out of microphones. Can Sarah do it? I'm here. Okay, you take over. I'm out of microphones.
Sorry. Can you bring the presentation back up?
Oh, who took it down.
Mommy?
I didn't take it down. Okay, I'll try and bring it back up. It's weird. Tech glitches. Glad it's at the end.
Yeah, at least it's at the end of our three days. All right, so, yes, you were talking about second edition. So now you know that that is a viable option if your book has been out for a while. And that's something book munchers can help you with. But yes, Julia's right. You don't want to treat it just like, you know, bypassing. Just kind of put it out there and see if it does well, you have to market it just like any other book. But really, what I hope you're taking away from today is that you're building a business with your book, that your book extends beyond just the book itself into a whole ecosphere of lots of opportunities, ability to build connections and opportunities that can come in from those connections. So keep working at it.
It.
Choose one thing that you can do today or this week that is going to get you one step further. You know, I saw in the comments a little while ago, someone was like, oh, my gosh, now I need to be on podcasts and I got to be on this site and I got to do this, do this. Yes, all of those things are checkboxes that you can do.
But do pace yourself.
Do it one step at a time. And that's where Author Launch Kit really helps you, because it walks you through that whole process. But one of the biggest things I hope you take away from today is that support is so important in this lonely world of being an author. As Wendy had mentioned, you know, it's really easy to second guess yourself and then, you know, not feel like anybody is listening to that message. But joining a community like Author Business Accelerator is going to help you keep in touch. It's going to help you gain perspective, and it's going to help you get ideas that you had not considered before. So. So Julie's already run through all of those prices and everything else for you. But, Julie, do we. Can we advance that slide? Let's see. Thank you. We're just wrapping up here. Julie will hop back on here a moment. I'm happy to stay and answer any questions as well, particularly in terms of marketing, media outreach, any of those things. So, Angela, while Julie's working out her tech, how about some questions?
Yeah, absolutely. And we do have some marketing ones that I've been holding for this very moment. Perfect.
So this is one from way earlier.
Jennifer. I don't know if Jennifer is still here. Hopefully, if you're not, you catch us on the replay. This was mentioned and it was such a big highlight in the chat. What would an app do for an author? Like an app?
Yeah, this is really going to be dependent on your book and the audience that you're working with with. But one of the best ways I can put this. You know, Julie mentioned earlier in the presentation about one of our authors, Kasha Dodd, who did an interview with a. With a magazine, and then therefore, that magazine then ended up engaging with her for speaking engagements. She has a regular column. All these other things. Well, Kasha does quite a bit in the. The realm of not necessarily meditations. And I'm suddenly blanking on the. Oh, tapping. She does a lot with eft. And so for her audience that are looking for more and more strategies to do this, putting all of her knowledge and everything into an app is a simple and easy way that her audience could take her with them, you know, everywhere that she, you know, they. They go, whenever they needed to access her knowledge, they were able to do it, you know, through something like this. So apps can be really useful if your audience is likely to be one.
That is going to need.
Need your information on a go on the go, it's going to need to be, sorry, my phone just popped up. Someone's FaceTime. It just showed up and threw me off my game. Sorry, we'll just silence that for a second. So it's always at the end, right? Apps are going to be really useful if your audience is someone who's going to need your knowledge on the go if they're likely to be mobile users. This is something to keep in mind as your audience use a lot of apps for things. Where do they need the convenience? Where do they need to be able to access that content? So, as an author, I think the best way that it's really going to help you is it establishes more credibility and also brings in potential new readers because people may discover you in the App Store and then take a step further and read your book. So there's lots of different ways that.
It can be useful. Is my sound fixed?
Yes, sounds much better.
Okay. I was like, I'm out of microphones, guys. That's great. Well, I don't want to hold Shane and Katrina here if, if they don't want to stay. So she. Let's bring them on and say thank you and thank everybody. And then, like I said, I'll stay. And sounds like Sarah will stay too. I volunteered Angela to stay because we can't handle. We can't handle the questions that answer them at the same time. But yeah, I mean, thank you to everybody who has been here for these three days and made them so special and all your particip and contributions and huge shout out to Shane for all his work. This, the author launch kit would not be here if it were not for Shane because, you know, I had the crazy ideas, put them on a whiteboard and Shane and Sarah were like, this sounds great. And Shane's like, okay, let's go figure out how to make it. And so. And so Shane's been working with the developers and has been the main reason that Author Launch Kit exists to this day. He's tested it a thousand times times and continues to test it. So thank you, Shane, and thank you for being here and working through this. And Katrina, you've been behind the scenes working hard. Thank you. Thank you for all your support this week. Really, really appreciate you. Yeah, fast makers indeed. Angela's had a few years of practice, so you've been so helpful.
Thank you. Appreciate it.
Absolutely. This has been awesome. I love it.
I hope to see everybody in the communities or on an onboarding session for Author Launch Kit soon. Thank you all for tuning in. I really appreciate it. And I'm logging off my prison cell so everyone can have a great rest of their weekend. And thank you, everybody.
He's off to buy some paint.
Bye.
Bye. Thank you. Okay, let's see what questions we have. Thank you.
Yeah. So this is from Genevieve regarding leveraging media appearances.
We did that one already.
Oh, we did that one. Okay. I thought so as I started reading it. Danielle, if we don't want to talk, to talk in podcasts or public speak, can the book still be a success? And can book launchers help with this?
It's an interesting question because, you know, you have to think about how does your target reader find you if they don't hear you speak, if they don't learn about you through some kind of media? I mean, there's definitely avenues in which you can promote a book without doing interviews. You know, things like just focusing on book reviews, which rarely involve the author.
Right.
It becomes all about the book. You know, running promotions, giveaways, and then getting other people to talk about the book would be one of the things that we would start to strategize on. But in reality, if you don't want to talk about the book, you might want to ask yourself why? What is it that is holding you back from wanting to be the spokesperson for your own content? And I would also be taking a look at. You know, we do have quite a few authors that are very hesitant to get into social media. It's just not their thing. It's not where their audience is. If you're not going to meet your person virtually, then you need to be able to meet them in person, online. Excuse me, in person at events.
Right.
So this could be libraries, bookstores, farmers markets, like it. It depends on the book and the audience.
But.
Is your book only going to be a success if you do podcasts and public speak?
No.
But are they the quickest avenues to get there? Yes, for sure. So, yeah, Julie, what do you think about that?
I mean, we have our just sell my book package, right. So that is for the author that doesn't want, you know, all the other things. And it's Amazon ads, ebook sales, you know, some book awards, you know, all of those kind of things. Is that going to be the only thing that you need? No, but it will help you move books and so you don't have to. But it depends on what your goals are. That's really, you know, without knowing more about your goals. So that is something inside of Author Business Accelerator. I would encourage you to come to an office hours call and let's talk about it and see what strategies and tactics are available for you to achieve your goals, you know, with the limitations that you're putting on your marketing plan.
Cool.
I think this was partially answered.
Let me know if it was fully answered earlier. Genevieve asked, I've been hearing that substack is a popular and beneficial platform for authors. I know we talked about substack a bit at the very beginning of today, but what are your thoughts?
I can dive into this. Yeah, I mean, I was. Go ahead. I was just going to say again, it goes back to your goals and how much time and energy you have to spread yourself, yourself across all the things.
One thing I am seeing is that substack is more popular in certain categories than others. So, for example, you know, I deal with a lot of journalists and editors. A lot of them are starting substacks instead of using things like Haro or Get Quoted and all of those other resources. So they're using their substack to find sources. That's particularly in the field of publicity. So in those cases it's interesting. Substack is great in the sense that it kind of. It can operate like a Patreon for podcasts.
Right.
People can join as a paid subscriber and you can release exclusive content to them, but you can do that through your own email marketing list as well. So I guess I would. I haven't dove too far into how substack is better or worse than maintaining your own email marketing list. I'm always going to be a fan that maintaining your own email marketing list is going to give you advantage.
I agree. Cool.
Okay. Julie asked, do you know of any websites that you can look up the questions people ask online?
There are some. You mean like Quora? Like things like that?
I think they mean so that they could find their audience.
Oh, so you find out what people are searching for?
Yes.
I mean, frankly, just Doing a little bit of a Google search and just using the autofill feature is going to give you some of the first ones there. There are some that will narrow down in terms of keywords that people are searching for, and I cannot remember them off the top of my head. I know we had a presentation that listed all of these.
I think I would use deep research. Yeah, honestly, like, I would go into chat GPT and just use deep research or go into perplexity, you know, talk about your genre and ask for the top questions people are asking and pull them from there and then you can go down and follow those threads. Yeah.
I didn't realize I was muted. Do you have a time blocking recommendation for feeling overwhelmed? When I need to build a list, have a newsletter, find, podcast, solve the next problem. How long do you spend each week to do these things?
I'm going to volley this one over to Julie because I never have enough time.
So, again, so I think this is where having a very clear goal is really, really important. I find that when I am the most overwhelmed, it is when I don't have a clear enough goal. So as soon as I get clarity on my goal, then I go, okay, what is the next most important thing that I need to do? And now I'm going to make sure that I block time for that. And so with our team as an example, we give them planners. And on these planners, it's like the top three. Right. So every day has a top three things. And yeah, you know, underneath I have a full thing, like every day that there's. Underneath, there's like all the other things I need to do. But the top three are the three things that I usually try to tackle first. So. But you won't know what your top three are if you're not clear on what you're trying to do and. And where you want to go. And so just kind of going through this list, feeling overwhelmed, need to build a list, newsletter, podcast, next problem, et cetera. So going down to, okay, what am I trying to accomplish right now? What's most important is it, you know, if your book is out and it's already selling, your next most important thing might be, okay, I have no. I have no readers, or I have no exposure, or now I'm trying to monetize what I've been doing. So what's that next most important thing for you? And then think about what's the next most important thing that you need to do. If you try to split it all up and do 12 things, it's going to feel really painful. So get that newsletter started. That is one thing that I say, you know, almost every author should do. So if you don't have that, focus on creating that landing page, that reader magnet, and then, you know, start sharing that newsletter, that reader magnet list, sign up and focus on that for the next month. Right. Get that done.
Reba asked, how do our newsletters help with LLM?
They don't. Yes, yes, yes. Yet they don't unless you're posting the same content on your website, which some people are doing. And in that case, that can be used to train the LLM. So, like chat, GPT or, you know, whatever. But right now, when you send the newsletter out, now, what it does help with is, is if you are. And it doesn't necessarily help with, you know, getting recommended by chatty, but your newsletter will help with getting your website clicked on, which will help its authority, which does matter for all of this. Like it matters for SEO and it matters for training all the models. So, you know, getting people to go to your website at some point, you know, within your newsletter, that can really help buying your book. That will help because it is looking at things, those. At all of those things. But, yeah, hopefully that helps a bit.
Phil asks, how long will the daily. Oh, you already answered that a few minutes ago. Perfect. So let me unstart that one. Let's see. Gino asked, where can one find a publishing company that doesn't charge more than I can sell the book? The lowest cost I found is no less than $10 a book.
Do you mean a printer?
Perhaps? That might be what they meant.
Yeah. I mean, a lot of local printers will print it for more than or print it for less than that, unless it's all color. So this is. That's a tough question to answer without a whole lot more context.
Yeah.
Gino, if you're still here, add some additional context, please, and we'll come back to. I'll keep it starred. Okay, so this was one that I thought would be good to answer for those who are still watching, considering aba. When are the meetings? How often? What's the schedule of time and dates and anything else involved?
Yeah. Oh, yeah, go ahead, Sarah.
Oh, I was just gonna say we usually we're trying to plan things out about 60 to 90 days in advance, so I think you can already start. Our July calendar is already up. I think our August calendar is gonna be added very soon. We try and do weekly things, so there's at least office hours and. Or a special topic every week. And Sometimes I think more than that. That one to two a week.
Yeah, we're setting office hours once a week, so there's always an office hours and then once or twice a month there's a special training as well. So right now there's about six calls a month happening. Plus Shane's author launch kit sessions are twice a month as well for ABA and for any author launch kit users. So there's, there's quite a few places where you can talk to us. The times do change and the days change, change. We've heard mixed feedback about that. Some people love that it's changing because then they can always attend one or two a month. Some people want it always at the set time. The reality with my schedule is I'll never be able to do a set time and day on a monthly basis. So mine are going to move. Sometimes I do them on a Saturday, sometimes I do them on a Monday. I'm Pacific Standard Time, so I'm usually the one doing it later in the day. So you'll find mine are sometimes at 4 or 5pm Pacific. So for people who work, they can join it after Sarah and Shane. Theirs are usually during their workday and the work like normal work week hours and they're Eastern or central so it'll be within those timeframes for them.
So mine are always Tuesday, Thursday at either 10:30 or 11:00am Eastern.
There you go. Yeah, yeah.
Kevin asked, because a author launch kit can generate keywords, would you need to have Publisher Rocket 2 and if so, how do the two tools complement each other?
That's a great question. Yeah. So Rocket is still going to give you sales data. We're not scraping Amazon, we're not doing any of that robust kind of analysis that Rocket does and there's no plans for us to do what they have done as far as being able to analyze the competition score, the sales ranking and the sales, you know, you know, success and what keywords are generating sales because that's what they do really, really well. And of course they're doing it for multiple international markets, but we're not scraping Amazon in the way that they are. So still very, very different. The keywords that are inside of Amazon have the, you know, did this generate sale, how did this keyword perform for, for that book? And we're not, we're not going to go down there. So our keywords are more like, you think about it from an SEO or a book description, what you want to put in there, what you might want to create content around that kind of Thing.
Awesome. And we did get additional context from Gino. So it was about a publishing company. So I'm in Canada and I can't find a good company that will print my book for under $5 like you find in the States.
I know Alyssa's found a few, but. Yeah, I, I don't know. I don't know. Without more. Again, the size of your book, the type of the paper, the cut, whether it's color or black and white. Like there's just so many factors. But you know, we are using Book Vault in Canada now. Their quality isn't quite as good as it is in the UK and then as it is in the US from what I understand. But Book Vault is there. I don't know if you've priced them out, but I would call your local, I would call your local printer shops or like we said the other day, go on ibpa, because they aren't just us and see if they have Canadian printers that specialize in books and just call them with your specs. Yep. Awesome.
And someone asked if we're going to be including these, these questions in the replay. Yes. I mean, this is still being recorded, so yes, this will also be in the replay. Okay, let me see. So let me scroll back up to my other questions.
So.
Whoops. Nope, sorry, I just shared that one. Someone wants to know if you'll be at NSA Influence at the end of July.
Sarah and I will be at Influence. So you'll see both of us. Yay.
Okay, awesome. Oh, okay.
Sorry.
We just answered that one. We're going through. These is great. John asked, can an author list on Amazon and do direct sales, which is better? And how would one coordinate this?
Yeah, they're different. Yeah, they're different.
They're different. I mean, yes, you can absolutely do both. Lots of authors do. You have to be aware of certain things like Amazon's terms and conditions in terms of your pricing. You can't like offer it for $3 on your website and then sell it on Amazon for 15.99. You know, so there's things to be considered. You know, consider there. Which is better. There's no real way to answer that because it's going to depend on your goals, going to depend on why you've.
Got the book out there.
If I would say, for example, if you're using your book as a lead generator and you don't really care about trying to just get one to one sales, direct sales might be better for you because you're going to be able to capture information if you're looking to hit bestseller list and use that as part of your marketing, you're going to want to be on a retailer like you Amazon. So it's, it's going to depend 100 on your goals, who you're trying to reach and what you want to do with the book.
Okay, let's see. Antoine wants to know at what point do we go from ABA and the Author Launch Kit to your services to maximize the success of the book?
I.
So they're, they're so different. I would say that ABA and the Launch Kit are, you know, post launch, if you haven't finished your book, come, come to us now so we can help you produce the best quality book that's positioned for marketing. So you know, because our services, we have ghostwriters and writers, a phenomenal team of editors, designers and, and then of course, you know, the marketing team that will surround you and you know, figure out, okay, how, how are we going to get that book into the world? When your book comes out, if you're working with us just for book production, then Author Launch Kit and ABA are included because you need that, you know, you need some of the tactical strategy pieces. If you are the kind of person who's like, come, I need somebody to do all this stuff for me. Then we have our service that kind of layers in called Author Amplified. And we'll build your website, your email funnel and pitch it and pitch your book and do all those things. So it depends on what you need. But if you're early, come to us so we can help you produce a great book. If your book is out, then, you know, try Author Launch Kit and Author Business Accelerator. And if you want somebody to do some of this for you, then that's where we can talk about what, what you need help with and what services we have that will facilitate that.
Okay, cool. Sorry, I was multitasking, typing out my own answer. Let's see. Gino asked, can I sell my book any way that I want? I think I heard that if I sell on Amazon, I can't sell my book anywhere else. That's KDP Select.
Sarah just vanished.
I don't want to answer this one.
Gino, you're question scared her away.
Sorry, sorry. My family is descending on the house.
I had to shut the door. No worries. Anyways, it's. If you are exclusive with Amazon, which would only be for your ebook, then you cannot sell giveaway or do anything else with your ebook. If you're exclusive with Amazon, your print book is fine though you're not going to be exclusive with your print book. So you can sell your book anyway and anywhere and give it away and do all the things with your print book. But yes, if you are exclusive with Amazon on your ebook, you are limited. Gotcha.
And okay, let's see, we've only got a couple more left. Kevin asked. You need to be in ABA in order to talk with someone about an author launch kit issue, training, etc.
Not, not just anyone. Shane in particular.
It's Shane. He wants to talk to Shane because.
I'm not going to be able to.
Help you that much and he's not here to hear it, so it's okay.
So yeah, we can send it all to Shane. Just email them. No, I'm kidding. So no. He has author launch kit implementation calls twice. I think every two weeks he's holding an author launch kit implementation call. So if you've purchased a license, a year license or lifetime license, you'll get emails that invite you to his implementation calls.
Awesome. Okay, lastly. Well, I'm sorry, we've got one other one after this. How do you feel about Book Beam over Publisher Rocket?
I don't use Book Beam.
Yeah, I'm not familiar with it. I haven't used it at all, so I can't really speak to that. I can say that Publisher Rocket has been phenomenal and I've had no complaints with it.
I love Rocket. I just, I can't say enough great things about it. Use it all the time.
Yeah, yeah, we've been using it for years. I mean, the whole, the whole book launcher's history, I think.
Yep. Yeah, it's been since early days we've used it. And also because they have a lifetime license, we have gotten our money's worth out of that.
Oh yeah, and they keep pulling out new updates with more and more info. I mean, some of their tools. So, I mean, I have not checked out Book Beam. I'm happy to take a look at it, but yeah, Publisher Rocket served everything that we need it for.
Last question. This is in regards to the NSA influence up. Will you do a meetup for the members?
I don't know. I hadn't, I hadn't thought about it. But it, you know, we'll have Imani there and a handful of other people. Yeah, come on by. We're going to be having the booth. We will be at all the things, so we'll definitely be there. I'm doing a lunch session. Would love some support as well. I'm doing two actually on Sunday and Monday, I think. Are My two lunch sessions, so come on out. It's always great to have friendly faces in the audience when you're giving a presentation, but we'll think about it.
I didn't really.
I didn't really occur to me that we would have that many people there. I know we'll have a few clients that have worked with us, but if.
You have enough, I'm happy to do a happy hour and find a spot. And, yeah, I'm happy to do it if we have enough people there.
Sarah likes salsa dancing, too. So.
Sarah's like, oh, no, now. Now I'm not gonna get sleep. I always take morning. I always take the morning shifts at the booth. That's. That's fine.
I will salsa dance all night if you guys want. No, I won't really.
Actually, I don't really like salsa dancing that much, but I'll be.
I'll do anything once that one time, and she's. That one time. And I've never been able to live it down.
Well, that's it, guys. There have been no more questions.
Wonderful. Well, thank you, Sarah, and thank you, Angela, for staying to answer all the questions. And thank you to all the people who are still here.
You guys are awesome. Oh, my gosh.
I love it. It's been so fantastic. So, yeah, thank you so much. And I look forward to meeting some of you in person at Influence in July and maybe meeting many others at a future live event.
ABA office hours and our community events. Cannot wait to talk to you guys.
Yes. I'm so excited. So thank you so much for making this a fantastic three days, and I'll see you again soon, I hope. Yes.
Bye, everybody.
