Julie Broad (Founder of Book Launchers) addresses authors whose book sales dip after a launch and offers five practical ways to stay motivated and revive sales: (1) reframe whether low sales matter (use the book for opportunities beyond sales); (2) run a free ebook promo or 99¢ sale to boost downloads; (3) increase daily marketing activity (do two tasks/day for 30 days); (4) start a new book/project to revitalize interest; and (5) refresh metadata (description, keywords, cover) informed by Amazon ad data. The video also includes calls to action (subscribe, like, comment) and links to related videos for deeper guidance.

After a good book launch, many authors see a book sales lag. Like Linda K. Lee did when she asked the question, what's a good way not to become down when your sales slow down? If you're wondering that too, then this video is for you. Hey there. I'm Julie the Book Broad, founder of the most fabulous self publishing services firm, Book Launchers. Thanks to Linda for this great question. Ultimately, it happens for almost all authors at some point in their book marketing journey, sales slow down or even grind to a halt. It's painful to check that sales dashboard and see a zero or even a negative if there was a return. But here are five things to do when your sales go down so you can stay up. Number one Check in to see if it really matters that sales are down. In this moment. We've had clients who have used their book to be on podcasts, written media, webinars, and so much more. And even though their book is opening all of these doors of opportunity for them, that door and that door and that door, they are still finding that sales are slow and they feel discouraged. Being an author isn't always about selling books. Sometimes it's about using that book to step into the next thing you're supposed to do and to reach people. Of course we want book sales, so we'll talk about things to do next. But truly check in with yourself because book sales are not the only thing that matter. Number two run a free book promo or a 99 cent ebook sale. Some of our clients have seen 2000 ebooks move during a free book promo, and the 99 cent ebook sale run over a week can also help give your Amazon sales a little boost of love. If you haven't done one in the last three months, I highly recommend doing that. And if you don't know how to do that, make sure you hit that subscribe button and turn the notifications on. Because next month I'm doing a video on how we run free ebook sales and 99 cent ebook sales. Oh yeah. 3. If you've been here a while, you may know my book marketing approach is to do one thing every day. Thank a reviewer, send a free book to someone, do a podcast interview, pitch the book to a bookstore, post on social media, et cetera, et cetera. But if you're feeling down, then keep yourself busy by tackling two things a day for the next 30 days. That's my prescription. Number four depending on how long your book has been out, it might be time to start working on a new book, launching self publish and succeed actually revitalized my previous two book sales a bit, and they had absolutely nothing to do with publishing. How do you sell a book? Write a new one. Or so that old adage goes. Regardless, part of this is just turning your focus to a new project. I think it also helps to make someone else happy. And you can do that right now by smashing that like button on the video. Go ahead, try it. It just might feel good for you too. Number five. Finally, if it's been a while since you did a refresh of your book description, keywords or even your cover, that could be a great way to give your book a boost on Amazon. If you're running Amazon ads, there can be some insights from your Amazon ads data that can suggest what you might need to do. For example, a new cover could be a good idea if you're getting tons of impressions but no clicks. If you have a lot of clicks but no buyers, then it could be your book description. So check out that data and make one refresh, see what happens and then go back and change something else. Now, if you're looking for what makes a great book description, this video right here is for you. And if you're totally fine with that one and you're thinking, I want to catch up on the latest and greatest from the channel, well, that, my dear friend, is right here. So go ahead, click on over. Before you do, make sure you leave a comment. Because when you comment the day a video is released, you get entered to win some of our sweet no boring books swag. Like our mug, our journal, which is now in black. So see you on the next video.
