Creating Multiple Streams of Income as an Author Youtube

Julie Broad (Book Launchers) explains how a published book can serve as the hub for multiple income streams beyond direct book sales. She lists seven high-impact strategies authors can use: turning a book into an online course, offering consulting, securing paid speaking gigs, bundling books into speaking contracts or workshops, earning affiliate commissions on recommended products/software, releasing multiple formats (audiobook, large print, translations, companion workbooks), and building/monetizing a YouTube channel. The talk includes brief client examples, revenue estimates for passive book sales, and CTAs pointing to Book Launchers services and related videos.

Professionally, publishing and promoting a book is going to take an investment of time, energy and money. So how are you going to make sure you're getting a great return on that time and money for your business? Stick around. I'm going to share how your book can be the center of a six or seven figure business if that's what you want. Hello, I'm Julie the book broad with Book Launchers, your professional self publishing support team from the start, all the way to the finish where you're making money off your book. By now, I'm sure you know the power of having multiple streams of income. It feels like everybody's always talking about side hustles and streams of income, right? Selling a book is a pretty great way to add another stream of income. I do very little to promote my books and most months I generate somewhere between 400 to $800 in income from book sales. That's a nice easy stream of incomes for books I wrote five and three years ago. But even more powerful than book sales are all the ways you can build a stream of income. As an author, there are dozens of ways I'm going to focus on the most powerful seven that you can use to build around your book besides book sales. Way number one, build an online course from your book. Make sure you subscribe to this channel because I have another video coming out really soon on how to build an online course from a book. I've built dozens of different online courses in the past and I used to train other folks on building courses and online brands around it. So I have some pretty cool stuff to share with you later. Number two, consulting gigs. Just because you lay out why your stuff is important and how to do what you do in your book in great detail doesn't mean some people still won't go, oh my gosh, can I hire you to do it instead? One of our clients, coach Deb Cole, knows her book will help people who wouldn't otherwise pay her consulting fees. And at the same time, she's expanding, expanding her social media strategy consulting business around her book by attracting all the people who don't want to do all the hard work that she does. Number three, speaking gigs. And this is a two parter because yes, your book can get you booked for paid speaking gigs. I've talked about how my second book, the New Brand New, had a couple of chapters that landed me speaking gigs. One chapter was called you are who Google says you are and I got asked to give that as a talk by a couple different organizations. So yes, you can get paid to speak. Number four, which is also part two. You can use your book as an add on to increase your speaking or workshop fees. Our client Ryan Berman has this awesome book out called Return on Courage. He already was doing speaking gigs, but now he's able to negotiate books into the contract for his audience. So before maybe he was going to get a $10,000 speaking fee, but now he's going to get a $10,000 Speaking fee. Plus they'll buy 400 books, one for every person in the audience. So now he's making speaking fees plus he's getting his book into the hands of all 400 attendees and making some profit on every book too. Number five, become an affiliate and sell things for other people that your readers are going to want. For example, our client Ron Neitzel has this great book coming out called the Green Wizard. It's a unique, fun and slightly quirky take on getting a green lawn and a great garden. There's a lot of tips in there that nobody else is teaching and he's the talk of the town with his wizardry. Anyway, he talks a lot about different projects, products that he uses on his lawn. So one of the things we've discussed is setting up an affiliate program with Amazon or other product providers to send his readers to a page where they can buy all these tools and products that he's recommending for the gardening tips. It's also going to help people like me who have no idea what a spreader or an aerator looks like, figure out what those things look like, but it'll be another source of income. Other examples if there's software you recommend, like we recommend KDP Rocket or morningfame, then you can become affiliates for those and direct folks to your website where they can learn more about these great products. If you want to check out the stuff we recommend, you can go to this page on our website and it's all listed there. Number six. Release your book in different formats. Large print, audiobook, ebook, companion workbooks, other languages. And you're going to get more income from the same book. 7th tip. Start a YouTube channel around your book content. I talked about how to do that in this video right here and I'll link this video in the description so you don't have to leave right now to watch it. But you can create a YouTube channel and monetize it. Ads aren't going to make you that much money. Basically, you're going to get about $100 in ad revenue for every 1 million views. But you may get sponsorship opportunities free products that you can promote as an affiliate. And maybe someday you might even sell your YouTube channel. I sold my first one, so I know it can be done. There's plenty more ways to make an income as an author. I didn't even talk about selling your existing products and services. Of course, I've talked about this a lot before. But your book can be an enormous source of income for whatever it is you already do. Or it will help you sell your second and third book, or your first book, or whatever book you're on. So all you need to do is get writing. Need help? If it's nonfiction, we can help.
