Happy International Book Giving Day 2019

Julie Broad (self-identified as "the book broad") hosts an impromptu YouTube livestream on February 14, 2019 to celebrate International Book Giving Day. She announces four books her group helped launch in January — No More Feedback (Carol Sanford), The Sport of School (Christian Buck), Unblocked (Allison McCauley), and Return on Courage (Ryan Berman) — briefly describing each and why a viewer might want it. She runs a giveaway: to enter, comment which book you want and a genuine reason within ~24 hours (cutoff 11am Pacific on Feb. 15), otherwise entries claiming only "I want a free book" will be excluded.

All right. Hey, guys, it's Julie, the book broad with book launchers. I am doing a very impromptu livestream straight to YouTube for change. I'll do the same thing on Facebook just to connect with all of you. I haven't quite figured out this whole how to stream to two places with one stream thing. I am challenged. So, yeah, so welcome. Today is not just Valentine's Day, but I would like to wish you a happy Valentine's Day today. More relevant and important to me is that today is International Book Giving Day. And so I thought, what better day to celebrate with all of you fabulous folks and share some books. So in January, we helped four different books launch. So I'll just share those with you and then I'm going to tell you how you can win one of these books. So first of all, here's no more feedback. Sorry, I got a no More Feedback by Carol Sanford. And this is really for anybody who's managing teams. So if you're interested in learning how feedback actually can be damaging to employees and to your teams and learn how to do it in a better way, Carol's written a really informative and useful book to help you with that. If you're here watching, I know there's some people here. So hello. Say hello. Chime in on the chat so I know who's listening. So I can give you a shout out again. This is the first time in forever that I have gone live directly to YouTube. So we are live. You can chat with me here. I think I'm gonna see it over here. Alright. So Carol's book is one that I'm giving away. We also have the Sport of School by Christian Buck. This is a great book for anybody with kids who are athletic and they are doing a great job of creating results in their sport, but they're not necessarily translating them into their academics. So Chris actually is what we call him. Chris has had a lot of success with his methodology in taking the motivation that helps kids and athletes and students take that motivation and get it applied to their academics. And he's got some great case studies, great examples and a really, really useful, interesting read that I think that if you have athletic children in your household, this would be a great choice for you. Then we also have unblocked by Allison McCauley. And if you were here, I think the last livestream I did, you may have been there for the unboxing of this one. So this is all about blockchain and how it's going to change how we do business in the future. Because of how it's changing consumer behavior. So if you are running a business and you don't know what blockchain is, you don't know why it matters. This is a really important book for you to check out. And last but not least, Ryan Berman's Return on courage. Really, this book has a ton of incredible stories of people who have shown courage in their life to achieve greatness. And he's taken it and kind of wrapped it up in the whole premise that courage isn't something we're born with. We're not born brave. We can learn to be courageous. And courage is needed for change in the corporate environment. And a lot of businesses are failing because they don't have the courage to change. And so it really teaches you about courage. So those are the four books that I am giving away today. And so what we're going to do is we're going to have a little fun with this. So as always, whenever you post the day a video is released, you will be entered to win. So same thing today, but today you have to post which book you want and why, and it will be a random draw, as always. But if you don't have the why or your why sucks. Like you say, I want the free book because I just want a free book. I'm not even going to put your name in the draw. So it's got to be a real reason. Okay, so which book you want and why? Post that in the comments and every entry that is in basically within the next 24 hours. So it is currently 11am Pacific Standard Time. So everybody who comments with the book that they'd like to be entered to win by 11am Feb. 15, you'll be entered to win. And if you're watching this after the fact, you can still say hello. Always makes me happy. But happy International Book Giving Day, folks. If you are an author, it's a great day for you to utilize this day on your social media and encourage people to give away your book, perhaps. All right, I don't know if I'm doing something wrong. If you guys are chatting, let's see. All messages are visible. I'm not seeing any messages, so you guys might not be saying hi to me, but I know there's people here. So hello and thank you for joining in on this short, impromptu live stream. And hopefully it all went technically well and it's not a technical problem which is causing people not to say hello. All right, thanks everybody. Happy Valentine's Day and happy International Book Giving Day.
