A short how-to by Julie Broad explaining how to create a clean Amazon book link by finding the book's ASIN or ISBN on the Amazon product page and appending it to amazon.com/dp/. She states Amazon assigns an ASIN when a book is listed for sale or for pre-order and explains that for ebooks the ASIN matches the ISBN-10.

Questions this video answers

When the book is listed for sale or for pre-order on Amazon.

The ASIN is the same as the book's ISBN-10 for ebooks.

Use the URL pattern amazon.com/dp/ followed by the ASIN (the identifier found on the product page).

So to get a clean link to Amazon, you have to go down into the Product details section of your book's product page and find the ASIN for print books with an ISBN that begins with a 978 and the ASIN is the same thing as the ISBN 10 for ebooks and for print books the ISBN is one that begins with 979 and Amazon assigns an ASIN when the book is listed for sale or for pre order. So in the case of self publish and succeed, you can see the number right here and you can see what happens when you post it after Amazon.com dp the number that you found on the product page and voila. That is a clean Amazon link. As my 6 year old son would say, easy peasy Mac and cheesy right.
