Looking to go wide with your book distribution so you can reach readers in libraries, on Kobo devices, Apple devices, and so much more. Well, PublishDrive is a fabulous aggregator that's worth considering. And they recently made some updates and changes that have me telling everyone about them. So if you haven't tried them or you're curious about what's new, well, this video is for you.
Hey there. I'm Julie the Book Broad, founder of Book Launchers, author of four books, two of them right up over there and your host on this fabulous channel and a new channel called the no Boring Book Reviews. I'll put a link to that below. At Book Launchers, we set most of our clients up with four different accounts for distribution, sometimes even five. We use Ingram, KDP, Draft 2 Digital, ACX, Authors Republic, or Findaway Voices. Having all these accounts allows our clients to maximize their distribution and income while reaching bookstores and libraries around the world. Now, we do love Draft 2 Digital, but the number one reason we were using them over Publish Drive was simply the fact that Publish Drive has a set cost every month whether you're selling books or not. The upside is that if you're selling a decent amount of books, that means you're making more profit because their fee is set. It's not based on books sold like Draft two Digitals is. But because we're already using so many different accounts and most of our clients focus on Amazon, it didn't make sense to commit our clients to a lifetime of monthly fees with PublishDrive. But a lot has changed at PublishDrive and they are stepping up to be a real category leader and innovator. And I thought you should know because they are a fabulous option for self publishing authors and they might be the perfect choice for you. Why? Well, one, if you have one ebook to put on their platform, guess what? You don't have to pay them any fees, which means more money in your pocket. That's right, they have a legit free publishing option. PublishDrive recently launched a new free plan that allows authors to publish one ebook title for life. This option includes distribution to over 35 ebook channels, an ebook converter, sales analytics, and AI chatbot support. So 100% of the proceeds go to you. Now, if you have more than one book, you do have to go on their paid plan, but the fact that they give you one free is huge and it's a great way to test them out. And if you love them well, maybe you'll see their monthly fee is well worth it. Number two, they have a wide distribution network PublishDrive offers a distribution network that reaches many places around the world, but it also includes Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore. This expanded reach can be particularly particularly valuable for authors looking to tap into those specific international markets. Draft 2 Digital offers wide distribution for ebooks and print books to major online retailers and libraries, and their network includes retailers like Apple Books, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, Amazon library distribution through OverDrive and Hoopla and several other platforms, reaching 12 online retail platforms and distributors. PublishDrive also offers an extensive distribution network reaching over 400 stores and 200,000 libraries worldwide, and does also cover the major online retailers like Draft 2 Digital does, but they also cover 50 countries with subscription services, particularly in South America and Southeast Asia. They have exclusive access to Chinese E retailers like dang dang and JD tapping into a market of 360 million English speakers and over 400 million foreign language speakers, which can be really important for some areas that you might be publishing in. The third reason you should look at PublishDrive is that in addition to ebooks, they are now supporting audiobook distribution and they also support AI narrated audiobooks. But it's still not an option to clone your voice and produce an audiobook through a program like 11 labs and sell it through their network. It's still only digitally narrated books that are produced through their partners like Google Play or Apple Books, but their audiobook distribution network does include We Here, which doesn't help nonfiction authors much because it's more of a fiction author platform. It has episodic subscription model and accepts books without ISBNs, but it's still a really cool option for that. Now number four, if you have co authors and you're looking for a clean way to manage your book and all the finances around it, you could consider using PublishDrive for most of your distribution. They accept ebooks, print books, audiobooks, and provide a way to split author revenues for payout and tax documentation which can be really useful versus the dances with spreadsheets that most co authors have to do. Number five, they also have some built in AI tools which I have not tested but I've heard some authors talking about and saying good things about. They have Sudowrite and AI Writer which can be particularly useful for nonfiction authors in generating content and ideas, and the platform offers a print on demand cover template generator and converter streamlining the process for authors who want to offer print versions of their books. I would still hire a designer, but for budget conscious people that option might work really well. So tell me, do you use Publish Drive? What do you think?
