Julie Broad (the Book Broad), founder of Book Launchers, explains five practical tactics to increase social media click-through rates to drive newsletter signups and book sales: 1) include specific calls to action pointing to reader magnets or book pages; 2) use attention-grabbing images (adding images can increase CTR ~18% per Buffer); 3) customize and shorten links (Bitly, Pretty Links) for aesthetics and tracking; 4) monitor analytics (social platform analytics and Google Analytics) and iterate; 5) improve copy/headlines to promise benefits or create curiosity. So I've been saying for a while that social media is a tough place to sell books. But if you can increase the click through rate on your posts, you have a better chance of getting a newsletter subscriber who may become a book buyer or even selling a book or two. So if you're wondering how to get more clicks on your social media posts to sell more books, this video is for you. Hey there, I'm Julie the Book Broad, founder of a fabulous self publishing firm called Book Launchers. In the online marketing world, a click through is a high value activity engaged enough with your content that they click through to learn more or even click to buy. A click through is when someone clicks a link. Social media clicks are a great way to get some traffic to your website without waiting for search engines to deem you worthy of that top spot. To improve that click through rate, one thing you can do is set up a link tree so you have a bunch of high value links in one place. This is especially useful for Instagram where you can't put links in posts. But besides that you here's what works best. Number one, Include a call to action wherever you can lock content down, pinned posts, your bios or other regular content. I just signed up for a YouTube thumbnail strategy session off this guy's Twitter profile. True story. Now I heard about him from self publishing with Dale so I knew he was legit. But I checked him out and he had this call to action in his Twitter profile and I want to improve my YouTube thumbnails. So boom. I booked a consult from this. He had a free guide below too so I opted in for that as well. A call to action is not get my newsletter, it's want to improve your thumbnail? Do this or want to know how to write a book that will sell? Go to book launchers.com 7Steps seriously, you should do that. It's a great guide to help you set up a plan for a book that will sell. A call to action can also be something like this. Hey, let's hang out some more. Subscribe to the channel and turn those notifications on. Or what do you do that gets clicks on your social media? Let's chat about it in the comments below. Those are all examples of calls to action. But if you want clicks, go for the call to action to your reader magnet or your book page number. 2. Use images according to Buffer, adding images to social media posts can increase click through rates by around 18%. Link posts with images that grab your eye will perform much better. So if you've got a great blog post you want people to read. Make sure you've checked out that preview of what that post will look like when you put it on social media and see if that image is going to be attractive and get people clicking to read. Number 3 Customize your links. You can use a URL shortening service such as Bitly to modify your links and make them more clickable. Or if you use WordPress, you can use Pretty Links, which is just a plugin to create links like book launchers.com 7Steps. These links are also trackable and it makes it more visually appealing. A shortening service like Bitly has the benefit of taking up less space in a post, which is useful for places like Twitter. Number four Monitor what has worked to get people to your website and do more of that. The analytics page of many business accounts on social media gives you data, but you can also use Google Analytics which will reveal what has worked to generate traffic to your website and even what action they took next after they landed on your website. Look closely at what has worked and do some slight variation on the same thing to see if it gets similar results. Focus on creating more content that generates that click through that you want. Number five Dust off those copywriting skills or get some if you don't have any yet. Headlines matter the most. Make a promise, create curiosity or otherwise tease the benefits of learning more. Your article headlines the lead in of a post that will show on the screen. These are things that will matter the most to get read through and click through.
