In this vlog, Daniel Bourke celebrates sending his first invoice as a solo creator for a project with A Cloud Guru, marking a financial milestone. He reflects on his recent client work, a car repair interruption, and announces a strategic shift: he will decline new client projects to focus his energy on his own YouTube channel and personal content creation, confronting his "shiny object syndrome" and committing to saying no to distractions. Daniel outlines his daily productivity routine—morning walk, cold shower, reading "The Personalized Diet," and writing—while sharing his growing fascination with the microbiome, citing research about gut bacteria weight and its impact on obesity. He then showcases his new DIY home‑gym setup: a massive truck tire and a sledgehammer he names "Gloria," which he uses for a vigorous, gym‑free workout, replacing his gym membership. Throughout, the tone is informal, enthusiastic, and narrative, highlighting both professional restructuring and personal wellness experiments.

Dala dala bills, y'all. Dala dala bills, y'all. Dala dala bills, y'all. What's happening? Monday morning, I'm excited. You ready? You ready? I'm about to send off my first invoice as a solo, solo creator. We're going to A Cloud Guru, we've delivered the project, we'll send the invoice off. I had to look up how to make an invoice, but it's here, it's ready, it's ready to be sent off, and we're gonna go in 3, 3, 2, 1. Dollar dollar bills, y'all.
Boom!
Hopefully it's correct. We'll find out eventually. But this week is going to be very much the same as last week, working on client work, studying, reading, creating, learning. Simple as that. Let's do it. Good afternoon. So long story short, yesterday kind of got away. I was doing some work and then something happened. Car, had to get the car fixed, and so I've been taking care of that this morning. And so it's now about 3 PM and I finally get to sit down and start doing some work. And I've kind of been rethinking how I'm going to do things. Oh, that turned a bit loud. But, uh, yeah, I gotta get some stuff done and then we'll talk about how I'm rethinking things and how I'm gonna restructure what I'm working on. Just iterate and deliver. See you soon. Alexa, 25-minute timer.
25 minutes starting now.
We're getting a bit dark, let's get some light. Did that work? Hope it did. All right, so what do I mean in terms of restructuring? Well, as you saw before, I just finished a project, and so what I'm doing now is instead of diving into the next one— like, I got an email from the, from the people I submitted the project to, would you like to work on the next one? And I've been thinking about it and I've decided not to, not to go just jump straight into the next project. I'm gonna spend a little bit of time thinking about how I can instead really start building something for the longer term. And so, what does that mean? Well, the energy that I was going to put into that project, I'm gonna instead take the selfish route and put that straight into my, my own channel, my own creation, my own articles. And so what I was going to build for there, I'm just going to build here. Now this comes back to saying no to basically everything and trying to reduce the number of things that, that I dedicate my time and effort to, which is extremely hard for me because I'm so high on openness. Like I've got shiny object syndrome to the max because in order to become the best in the world at a few things, and I really mean that, right? I'm not just very good, like the best in the world, the crossover of a few things. I basically just have to ignore all of the other things. Okay, so what does this restructuring and project, project making look like on the channel? Well, that's a good question. Leave it with me. Now, I've gotta go. It's my turn to cook dinner before training, so I gotta put that on and so I can come home from training and dinner's ready for everyone. But we'll see you tomorrow.
Hey, Stefan.
Come on, come on. Morgen. Almost gotcha. Now we're getting Miss Jealous.
Look over here. Hey, don't get angry.
24th of July, 2019. First things first, my brother's birthday, so I gotta call him. And I decided I'm going for a walk. I haven't been for a morning walk in a while. I'm gonna walk, no technology, no fancy stuff, and then come back and we'll get into reading, writing, Project work. Simple. Never, ever, ever regret going for a good morning walk or any type of morning exercise. Now it's time for a cold shower because every day we do something that sucks and then we get into it. Reading done, writing done. Put this little thing over there for a second, over there for a second. Now I'm reading The Personalized Diet. This bad boy. Can you see it? There we go. The Personalized Diet. And what I can say is that I am getting more and more, as I learn more about the microbiome, I am getting more and more fascinated. Alright? Did you know the microbiome, so the gut bacteria, weighs more than your brain? And did you know if you take cells from your microbiome, or actually, from a lean person's microbiome and an obese person's microbiome, and you put those cells into a germ-free mouse, right, each of them gets, gets, keep them separate, right? The mouse that got the cells from the lean person will stay lean, but the mouse that got the microbiome cells from the obese person has a much higher chance, or probably will get obese. Isn't that fascinating? It's going to be an exciting couple of decades when more research on the microbiome comes out. Stay tuned because I'm getting obsessed with it and I want to learn more about it. I want to share what I learn. But we did get two cool things. Check out this. Say hello to my little friend. Now you might be thinking, Daniel, why the hell do you have a sledgehammer? And there's a good reason for it. See, the thing is I needed something to whack this bad boy. That there is some sort of massive truck tire that I picked up from a mechanic who was repairing trucks and was throwing these out. And so what we got over here— actually, this thing needs a name first. Gloria. Because when you wield it, you get almighty glory.
Yeah!
Let's test it out. When the code doesn't run, you get a little bit frustrated, pick up Gloria and take it out on the tyre. There ain't nothing 100 or so swings won't fix. Now you see, it's a bit bright over there. Cancelled my gym membership the other day, so Gloria and the tyre, they're taking over. Here's what we're going to do. Alexa, 1-hour timer.
1 hour starting now. You can ask me things like add a minute or remove a minute anytime.
Thank you.
Do 1 hour, then bash. 1 hour, then bash.
Alexa, stop the timer.
50 whacks it is.
Let's break up this study and this tire. That feels good.
Who needs a gym membership when you got Gloria? Nothing like a bit of bashing. To break things up. Alexa, 1-hour timer.
1 hour starting now.
Alexa, stop the timer. 50 whacks it is. This will be a good warm-up before training.
