3 Reasons You're Not Making Money Public Speaking | Brian Tracy

Brian Tracy presents three primary reasons public speakers often fail to make substantial income: (1) they avoid promoting themselves on stage, (2) they don’t think beyond the live event to create additional products/services (recordings, workbooks, courses, workshops), and (3) they fail to leverage affiliate programs for products they already recommend. He gives concrete, audience-aligned tactics (show your book onstage, offer recordings, create workbooks or workshops, join affiliate programs) and closes with a direct call to action for viewer engagement and taking immediate action.

Three Reasons you May Not Be Making Money as a Public speaker and what yout Should Be Doing Instead when you speak about something you passionately care about, you will be more comfortable and feel more confident in your element. Brian Tracy Public speaking can be a great way to make a living, but if you're just starting out in the industry, it might be difficult to imagine taking the next step towards a lucrative public speaking career. Making a viable income through speaking gigs can be hard, but over the years, Brian learned how to work as a public speaker and make a comfortable amount of money. Here's his top strategy for making more money as a public speaker. Don't just focus on the speaking. Instead, think beyond the speech itself and diversify your revenue streams to make more income from different avenues Sound confusing? Let's break down three reasons you're not making money and cover some additional revenue streams you can use to help your earnings rise. The first reason you might not be making money as a public speaker is that you're not promoting yourself while on stage. A lot of people, speakers and non speakers alike, are afraid to promote themselves. There might be a few reasons why. Maybe we feel like promoting ourselves will make us look arrogant. Or maybe we secretly feel insecure and think that we're actually not good enough to do what we're doing. But here's the truth. You are good enough, and if you don't promote yourself, you aren't going to make any real money. Promoting yourself and going for the direct sale is what the pros do. You just have to learn to do it the right way. But what does that look like? Your self promotion should be relevant to the event, your audience and what you're talking about. Whatever you're promoting should also be something that brings real value to the audience. If you wrote a book that your audience would like, take a copy up on stage with you and find a moment to show it to the audience. If you've created a tool that solves a problem you're talking about in your speech, mention that tool at the end of your speech. Briefly talk about your company and tell people how they can get in touch with you. These are some of the best ways that you can promote yourself and boost your overall income without coming across as someone who's only interested in making a sale. The second reason you might be struggling to monetize your speaking career is that you're not thinking past the event. Yes, you're getting paid to speak at events, but to really maximize your revenue, you need to think beyond the event too. How can you upsell your audience. You're going to spend a lot of time planning for the event and preparing your material for your speech, so think about ways you can capitalize on your efforts. Anything you can do to bring more value to your audience should be on the table and you'll come away with more money too. For example, if you have permission from event organizers, maybe you can sell a recording of the event. Audience members who attended the event can buy or download a copy to share your speech with friends. You can also make the recording of your speech available to people who weren't able to attend live by selling the video on your website. You might want to create a workbook or course that gives audience members strategies they can use to put your advice into practice. This can be helpful because it's something tangible people can take home as they work on implementing the advice you gave them. In addition, consider diving deeper and offering a workshop or some type of extended training based around the topic of your speech. Compiling extra materials to help your audience go deeper in an excellent way to offer more value and make more money. And finally, the third reason you're not making as much money as you could be is that you're not utilizing your affiliate network. A smart way to make more money as a public speaker is to leverage your affiliate network. If you aren't familiar with the concept of affiliate marketing, it works like this. A company will have people sign up as affiliates, and then those people will market the company's products or services and receive a commission on any sales that are made. Let's say that you have several programs or tools that you love. You use them personally and they're very helpful too. Maybe you often find yourself recommending these tools in your speeches. If so, try reaching out to those companies to see if they have an affiliate program and if you could become an affiliate for them. Working as an affiliate is a smart move because you'll be making extra money to do something you were already doing recommending a product. And when you add your affiliate money to your other revenue streams, you could be making a solid living as a public speaker. Now answer this question.
