Four steps to turn your passions into a career if you're worried about money, it simply means that you can and should be earning more. How are you going to do it? Brian Tracy Everybody needs to make more money no matter how old you are. Bills are the one thing that seems to be a consistent in a world that's endlessly changing. Unfortunately, the reality makes a lot of people feel stuck in life. They stay in the same job even if it doesn't have any upward mobility because the fear of being without employment at all is worse than being at a job they hate. Sound familiar? It doesn't have to. If you feel like you're stuck in a dead end job and want to do something else with your life, you can turn your passions into a career that pays you to do the things you love. The first step to do this is is think about where your true passions lie. Some people may tell you not to mix business with pleasure, but from a realistic standpoint, doing what you love is what's going to boost your bottom line. It's easy to feel like you're running on a hamster wheel in life, constantly going as fast as you can without ever actually getting anywhere. Stop for just a minute and take a look around you. There are businesses on every street across the world that are built on the foundation of the things that people love to do. People who have green thumbs become florists, creatives sell artwork, bakers make their clients big days extra special. Think about where your passions lie. What do you love doing? What would you be doing right now if you could wave a magic wand and make anything you want happen? Once you know where your true passions lie, you can begin to lay the groundwork for a career you actually love. Step two is to become an expert in your field. It's imperative to become an expert in your field if you want to make more money doing what you love. Showcasing the fact that you understand the intricacies of your industry will help you relate to customers on all levels of the playing field. Remember, every job has highs and lows, so don't disregard the less than pleasant portions in favor of the glamorous parts. Instead, acknowledge the industry as a whole and do your best to learn the ins and outs from every angle. What have others before you done to make them successful? Why have others failed? What can you do to provide customers, clients and audiences with a unique take on a service or product they know they need? Ask yourself what would make you trust someone in your industry and then become that person? Step three is to ascribe to continuous learning. Nobody knows everything. As soon as you think you do, you're failing in your journey towards success. Learning in itself is a broad term, but that's a good thing. It means it can be done in a million different ways. Maybe you don't want to go back to school to pursue your passion and that's okay, but life gives us opportunities to learn every day. When you seek them out consciously, you'll be afforded more opportunities than you know what to do with. Have you considered connecting with like minded peers on LinkedIn? Are there community classes in your city that would provide insights into your industry or help you hone your talents? Perhaps an online certification would help you boost your resume. In this world of technological empowerment, you have tons of tools at your fingertips. Utilize them to learn more about the things you love, then get even better at them. Before you know it, you'll be building a business from something that was once just a distant dream. Step number four is to surround yourself with people who inspire you and who are doing better than you. If you want to turn your passions into a career, surround yourself with successful people who are doing better than you are. Why? It's easy. They're successful. They've got tips, tricks and trade secrets that can't be learned from any online recipes. Besides the fact that it's much easier to be motivated when you're around people who are also motivated, successful folks are usually pretty forthcoming with their stories of success and failure. If you're all ears, you'll have plenty of chances to grow as a person and as a professional. Now, we'd love to hear from you. So our question today is how are you going to get paid to do what you love? Leave a comment below and we'll be sure to follow up with you. Thanks for watching. And as Brian Tracy always says, if you want to change your future, take action. And take action now.
