Five Ideas to Monetize a Public Speaking Business all wealth comes from adding value from producing more, better, cheaper, faster and easier than someone else. Brian Tracy Public speaking is a highly rewarding and interesting career, but if you're struggling to monetize your public speaking business, you aren't alone. Many people hope to have a lucrative speaking career, but end up struggling to make as much money as they'd like to. Are there things that you can do to take your speaking business and its revenue to the next level? Absolutely. Here are five creative ideas you can use to monetize your public speaking business that you probably never thought of before. 1. Sell a post event recording. If you have the event organizer's permission, consider selling a video or audio recording of the event where you spoke. Event attendees can take a copy home for their friends or to re listen to themselves. This is also a great way to reach people who wouldn't attend the event or upsell to people who come to the next event and want to hear more of your work. Sell the recording as a CD or DVD or offer a digital download option on your website. 2. Offer consulting to your audience. Your expertise might be just the thing to solve your audience's problems and obstacles. Offer consulting services to help them reach their goals. There's big money in consulting, and when you work with individuals or companies as a consultant, you can take your public speaking revenue to the next level. Hand out business cards and mention that you're available for consulting services. If your audience is in the right niche and demographic, encourage them to reach out. And since you've just proved that you're an expert in your field by delivering a solid speech, they'll be more likely to call you up. Convert your key points into a book. This idea might take a little more work than the others, but taking the points of your speech and making them into a book can be a fantastic way to monetize your business. Plus, author is a good addition to any resume. Get started by laying out your key points, then build off that outline, brainstorming more topics and subtopics based on your original speech. When you're finished, self publish a book on Amazon, Market the book on social media, and bring copies to every event where you speak. If you don't want to write a full book all by yourself, consider hiring a professional ghostwriter to help. You could also write a shorter ebook and sell it online. 4. Develop an online course. Online courses are extremely popular and who better than you to create one in your field? To get started developing an online course, come up with a subject and create in depth lessons that relate to your broader topic. Define what your students will learn from the course and then create the materials that will help them do it, such as video lessons, a workbook, or other types of content. When you're through developing the course, it's time to make it available to the public. Depending on the nature of your content, you might choose to post the course on YouTube, share the material on your website, use a third party learning management system, or all of the above. Then be vocal about your course and recommending it to everyone you can. 5. Offer public speaking Training Chances are your audience is filled with people who wish they could do what you're doing and with a little help they can take everything you've learned about public speaking and use your experience to teach others. You can provide group instruction or offer one on one guidance, charging people a set fee in exchange for sharing your knowledge and feedback. This is an excellent way to extend your reach and make more money in the public speaking industry.
