Brian Tracy identifies five barriers to wealth: low self-confidence, lack of motivation, no written goals, laziness, and a non-supportive social circle. He argues you need clear goals, people around you who lift you up, and the discipline to keep working.

If you want to achieve true wealth, you have to be willing to put in the necessary work to get there. Hello, I'm Ryan Tracy. A few years ago I released a video entitled the five Reasons why Most People Don't Become Wealthy which has become one of my most popular videos here on YouTube and worldwide. Many of you expressed how helpful the content was to you, so I decided to film a follow up video and let you know five more reasons why Some People Never Become Wealthy if you haven't already watched the first video, click on the link on the screen or in the description below to watch it and then come back to this. Now let's get right into it with one of the largest reasons why some people never become wealthy and and that is because they have low self confidence. Your level of self confidence is probably the critical factor in everything you accomplish. It determines whether or not you will be successful because when you have enough self confidence, you will try almost anything. And because success is largely a matter of averages or probabilities, the more things you try, the more likely it is that you will try the right thing at the right time and achieve greatly. You'll notice that successful and wealthy people are always self confident. They are the people that you look at when they walk into a room because they exude confidence. And that confidence is what has helped them to try new things and push themselves to the limit to ensure that they achieve the wealth and happiness that they desire and that you desire as well. Another major reason why individuals do not become wealthy is due to a lack of motivation. The world is full of people who are waiting for someone to come along and motivate them to be the kind of people they wish they could be. The problem is that no one is coming to the rescue. We say that too many people are on a street waiting for a bus where no buses go. As a result, if they don't take charge of their own lives and put the pressure on themselves, they can end up waiting forever. And that's what most people do, which leads to them never accumulating the wealth they desire. It can be a long and hard road before you actually strike gold and gain wealth. And those without motivation will never stay the course long enough to get there. Another common attribute of individuals who never become wealthy is having a lack of clarity. There's a reason why we say that success is goals and all else is commentary. People with clear written goals accomplish far more in a shorter period of time than people without them could ever imagine. This is true everywhere and under all circumstances. So if your goal is to become wealthy enough through owning your own business or getting a high paying job, but you're not clear on the exact steps to get there or what type of business or job you want to have. Then you'll always be running around in circles and you'll never get anywhere. The fourth reason why people don't become wealthy is because human beings by nature are lazy. This trait is neither good nor bad by itself. It's only the way in which we manifest it that makes it positive. If we never balance our inherent desire to be lazy with the hard work and determination we need for success, then it's inevitable that we'll never achieve our ultimate goal of wealth. Achieving wealth means you need to put your desire to be lazy to the side and focus solely on that one goal. You need to eat and sleep and breathe that goal of financial success until it manifests itself. Lazy individuals will be able to do this for a short period of time, but not long enough to actually build their wealth. The final reason why most people don't become wealthy is because they have no support system. While most of the success and wealth you will achieve will ultimately be due to your own efforts, it's still extremely important to surround yourself with with people who support your goal and help you to achieve it. If the only people who you surround yourself with are negative and try to make you focus your attention on them or the latest television show, then you'll never have the time to grow your business or get a job promotion because all of your time and energy will be focused on other people or negative, unhelpful circumstances.
