Hello, I'm Brian Tracy and today I want to talk to you about why any path to success starts with investing in yourself. Many of us spend so much of our energy worrying about others, but we have to be conscious about taking time to put our own needs and gains first. This year I'm doing something special for Black Friday. For years people have been telling me that they're just sick of these huge savings from big box stores on nonsense products that are just going to gather dust in their closet. In fact, Business Insider says that the two of the top big deals last year were on socks and a blender. Imagine that. So this year I'm creating a new kind of Black Friday where you can build your own custom sale and save huge amounts on the life changing programs that will help you to turn 2021 into your very best year ever. To build your own Black Friday and check savings of up to 80% on my top selling my most popular programs, click the link below. And now back to the video. It may shock you to hear this, but nobody is born perfect. Nobody is born with any natural talents or abilities. They are all learned over the course of time. In fact, perfection is really more of a myth than an ideal. It's something no one else ever really achieves, no matter how hard they work. But you can still ensure that you are drawing closer and closer to your ideal lifestyle by prioritizing personal growth. One of the things that I've learned in life of the three most important keys to success is that daily and continuous learning is absolutely indispensable if you want to become rich, successful and in complete control of your life. That's why a well planned goal will always be growth or change, focused, becoming better and better instead of simply to achieve perfection which is not possible. I'm sure if you ask Yo Yo Ma or Beethoven when they finally achieved perfection, they'd simply laugh and tell you that there is no such thing as Thomas Edison, the greatest inventor in history, said that success is 99% success, perspiration and only 1% inspiration. But the inspiration comes as a result of the work that you do on yourself. You see, personal growth is a lifelong process of sharpening your mind and body in order to progress to your chosen destination. And the effort you put into developing this ideal of excellence in what you do is based on one key factor, setting mindful and practical goals that you can apply in your day to day life as you continue your success in life. And that's why I want to walk you through some of the ways that you can invest in yourself and improve your life. Starting today, the first way to invest in yourself is is to improve your skills. Personal growth is made possible when you improve your awareness and develop your ideal identity. One of the best ways you can do this is by maximizing your talents and sharpening your skills in your chosen field. Many years ago when I got into sales, I found that I had no fear of knocking on doors. But I was terrible at at closing the sale. So I invested a year in reading and listening to audio programs and going to seminars to learn how to close a sale. And I finally became so good at closing the sale that in one year my income increased 10 times. My work on how to close the sale, which I put in audio and video and CD and so on, has transformed large billion dollar companies. Because everyone learns how to close the sale the one skill that they need. Time management should also be a priority in your self improvement journey. When I discovered the miracle of time management many years ago, again, it increased my income over and over. Your self improvement journey and pursuing new skills doesn't necessarily involve spending a dozen hours each day on mastering a task as a benchmark. Try making it your personal goal to invest 10% of your time and money back into yourself and your personal growth. Let me tell you a story. I was giving a seminar to more than 500 business owners in Dallas a couple of years ago and one of the people in the audience, one of the most successful people in the country, stood up and everybody knew him and I knew him and he said what he's about to tell you is wrong. He's going to tell you that for every dollar you invest in yourself, you'll increase your income by $10. He said. I tried that when I was 18 years old and I went to his seminar, but it didn't work. I didn't increase my income 10 times, I increased my income 50 times and 100 times for every dollar I invested in myself. He said. Today, he said, I'm 36 years old and I have more money that I could spend for the rest of my life because of that one principle he's talking about. So it will always be the best investment of your time to invest in becoming better and better at what you do. For example, you could enroll in an online class taught by a master in your area of interest. You could attend a course, a virtual conference, or read books that set your focus on self improvement strategies. Every one of these can double and triple and quadruple your income. Sometimes a single book, a single course, a single audio program can make you rich. Knowledge and high quality training is remarkably accessible in this day and age and there are countless ways that you can grow I am taking a course on business model reinvention that is being given by an expert in Lausanne, Switzerland next week. It's expensive, but I don't have to fly to Switzerland as I used to have to fly to one of these courses. Today you can learn everything you want to learn sitting at home. Now my second tip is to make sure that you set aside time for yourself. Set aside time to become better and better. It's easier than ever before to get caught up in your daily tasks and distractions, whether that's working late on a project or running errands for your boss or social media. However, in order to live a fulfilling life, you have to be sure that you're spending time working towards your big personal goals. Maybe you have a dream of starting your own business, maybe you have a book that you've been wanting to write for years, but you can never find the time. Whatever your goals are, you must carve out time from your busy week to work on them on a regular basis. This could be 30 minutes a week or two hours per day, but it's equally important that you commit time towards taking care of yourself. Many of us spend so much of our energy worrying about others or our situations, but we have to be conscious about taking time to put our own needs and gains first. Another way to invest in yourself is to explore new creative outlets. If you want to make a big change in your life, then you will need to be prepared to step out of your comfort zone. There's a wealth of creativity and drive within you and within everybody, and personal growth comes from pushing yourself and pushing your boundaries. They say creativity takes courage. It means that you force yourself out of your comfort zone and the more you foster your creativity, the faster you'll reach your goals. There are lots of ways that you can begin to harness your creativity and creative mind, such as writing short stories, fiction or nonfiction, learning a musical instrument, picking up a new language, or studying and experiencing other cultures and places. An important area that is often overlooked is the time that you invest to take care of your health. You are only as strong as your mind and body allows you to be. We are increasingly learning that a healthy, healthy, happy life is founded on taking your physical and mental health seriously. There are so many ways to sharpen your mind and improve the functioning of your body, and the positive benefits will become apparent when you start to prioritize your health. Here are some Ideas Number one Eat a healthy and balanced diet. A lifelong commitment to a healthy, healthy diet will help you perform better physically and you'll be sharper mentally. Garbage in, garbage out applies to every aspect of your life, and a healthy diet is no exception. Exercise a few times a week. Swimming has been my secret weapon for many years, and nothing helps shake the cobwebs out like an early morning plunge into a cold pool. But exercise doesn't just mean going for a run or hitting the gym. It could be as simple as taking a walk with a friend. By the way, if all you did was walk for 30 to 60 minutes a day, you'd get about 90% of all the exercise that you need. Number three is read and write and think. Just like your body needs exercise to stay fit, so does your mind. So read, read, read, underline, take notes, write things in the margin. Review what you have read. It makes such an incredible difference. Challenge your mind in new ways every day and the results will be apparent almost immediately. Do crosswords and puzzles and stay engaged with subjects that interest you. The mind needs constant positive activity and in order to build new neural pathways and for you to stay sharp. 4. Socialize Socializing networking has been the foundation of healthy society since the dawn of time. But in today's busy world, people are more and more focused on work and often put off socialization as a luxury or even a distraction. Be sure that you set aside time with your friends and family to exchange ideas and engage in healthy conversation. Not only are these relationships essential for your long term success in life, but these conversations will stimulate positive thinking that will increase productivity and life satisfaction. And finally, once you decide to start investing in yourself, in your personal well being, you have to make a plan. The tracking process is an essential part of success in life.
