Brian Tracy's three Rules for a Happy Life Happiness comes when you believe in what you're doing, know what you're doing, and love what you're doing. Brian Tracy have you ever felt as though happiness is fleeting? Like it shows up in your life only as a temporary state that's gone almost as soon as it shows up? You find yourself constantly looking for it, but it always seems to be just out of reach. The closer you get, the farther it seems to slip away from you, leaving you frustrated, discouraged, and the literal opposite of what you were looking for unhappy. The problem is that you're chasing happiness without having a structured plan to bring it into your life. Often all that is missing is the structure that allows happiness to flourish and find you. To put yourself in a position where you can have a fulfilled happy life, you need to take the time and set some life rules in place to welcome happiness to you. With that in mind, here are three rules for a happy life. Rule 1 Be goal oriented One of the most important rules for a happy life is to be goal oriented. You don't need to look much further than highly successful people to see how they use this rule in their own lives. To take a page from their happiness habits, you need to set concrete goals that align with your life's purpose and work on them daily. This allows you to zero in on each day with laser focus, giving you a roadmap on how to spend that day. This will move you closer to your personal and professional success, increasing your happiness. By dedicating yourself daily to working from your clear, written goals towards your higher purpose, you will feel a higher level of satisfaction from what you have accomplished that day. At the end of the day, when you look back on all the progress you've made from working on your goal, you you'll find you are happier than when you started because you have moved closer to your ultimate Success destination. Rule 2 Be results driven if you have written goals, you'll be able to track your progress towards achieving those goals in a set timeline. By having them clearly defined and written, you can easily measure and track how far you have come and how much further you need to go to achieve your desired results. With this results tracking, you'll also be able to practice time management to keep you moving in the right direction. The more you move towards your goals, the happier you will be. But if you don't have written or defined goals, you won't have anything to track and you won't know how far you've progressed or even if you are moving towards your goals Without a clear direction, you are most likely to waste your time by procrastinating which does not move you toward your desired results. Ultimately, this will keep you unhappy because you feel like you're treading water. Rule 3 continuously take action While having concrete goals is important and can keep you motivated to work towards them, it is still important to continuously take action. Having your desired goals written down is not enough. Where these goals come to life and where you will achieve happiness is when you take action and propel yourself forward. This ties into Rule 2 as taking action will be measured when you track your results. Every action you take, no matter how big or small, will help you overcome resistance which can show up as procrastination and time wasting. Taking continuous action overcomes these obstacles. By taking action on your specific goals daily, you will see the value in what you are doing. You will put yourself in a position where your progress toward your personal and professional success will bring you happiness. If you've been struggling to achieve happiness in your life, look to see if you are following the three rules for a happy life. By being goal oriented, results driven, and taking continuous action toward your meaningful goals, you will set yourself up for long term happiness and success.
