How to Develop an Action Mindset There are no limits on what you can achieve with your life, except the limits you accept in your mind. Brian Tracy if you flip open a calendar and look for someday, you'll be looking for quite a long time. So then why do people tend to tell themselves that they'll complete that big goal someday? That's why now is the time to stop pushing off your dreams and start taking action on them today. So what's the trick? Well, developing what we call behavioral goals is an essential step to accomplishing your next big dream goal. But to change your behavior, you must also change your mindset. To help you get there, Brian has put together four steps that will help you adopt an action mindset and accomplish your next goal. And then your next and your next. Number one do the Hardest Task first by now you've probably heard the phrase eat that frog. This is one of the best kept secrets of superior time management and personal development. When you eat that frog, you tackle the most difficult task on your list first every time. Why? Well, think of it this way. The hardest task is often the one you're most willing to procrastinate on. But if you keep pushing off a difficult task, you'll have less energy and drive by the time you get to do it. If you ever even do. Putting off an important task can also detract from your performance in other tasks because you will be distracted knowing you have a big project that's looming just ahead. So start by identifying your frog the the biggest, hardest and most essential tasks related to your goal. Then attack this first thing in the morning and stick with it until it's complete. Plus, the confidence you will feel after completing this first daunting task will propel you to bigger and better things throughout your day. The second way to develop an action mindset is to set a specific time to focus on your priority. If you're planning to seriously accomplish your goals, then you need to decide when you're going to take inspired, purposeful action towards them. Remember, it's not someday. The simplest way to do this is to take out your calendar and schedule a dedicated time in your day to do the work. Dedicating a specific time for your action oriented tasks doesn't have to involve a huge commitment. Even just 30 minutes a day adds up dramatically over time. But be realistic with yourself and write down the times that you can actually stick to and stick to them. Treat these time slots the same you would any other appointment and show up. Use tools and techniques that will help you manage your Time wisely and be sure to avoid distractions and time suckers that will only get in your way, like television and social media. Next, number three Aim for progress, not perfection. The key here is simply to begin. Don't worry about things being perfect, because the reality is they probably won't be. You can use productivity tips to help things go more smoothly as you begin working on your goals in earnest. But if you expect to never run into obstacles or make mistakes along the way, you're simply setting yourself up for failure. Remember to be patient, not perfect people spend far too much time worrying about perfecting their actions that they end up not taking any action at all. Commit to making progress every day. Banish the idea of perfection from your mind and instead adopt a mindset of gratitude, discipline and humility. Learn to see mistakes and hiccups as learning opportunities, not failures. Finally, number four Create small milestones with strict timelines. By this point, you've seen the importance of prioritizing your hardest tasks, dedicating time to working on your goal, and being consistent. The final step is to take your goals and chunk them down into smaller, achievable milestones. This is necessary in order to change your mindset from I don't know if I can to I can and I am important. Life changing goals can be intimidating or seem impossible, which can deter you from taking necessary action. When you break things down into smaller goals to tackle along the way, you begin to build momentum and you begin to build the confidence you need to succeed. Belief in yourself is priceless when it comes to achieving goals. It helps you stay focused even when things get challenging or seem impossible. Want to write a novel? Well, break it down and set a deadline for the first chapter. Want to start your own business? Set a deadline for the business proposal. Whatever your goal is, identify ways to break it down into smaller steps and focus on those. By following these steps, you'll be well on your way to changing your behavior and accomplishing your goals. These steps help you change your mindset so you'll be primed to accomplish even more goals in the future. If you follow these steps and stay focused on your goal, you'll see your confidence build and your momentum grow. Now the question today is this. How can you develop an action mindset? Leave a comment below and Brian will be sure to follow up with you. Thanks for watching. And remember, as Brian always says, if you want to change your future, take action and take action now.
