Did you know that nothing succeeds like success? And the more success experiences you have, the more success experiences you will have in the future. The starting point of building your self esteem and self confidence is for you to have success experiences both large and small. Once you've set your goals, it's essential that you make them measurable so that you can keep score of your small and large successes along the way. You can't hit a target you can't see, and what gets measured gets done. The very act of setting a goal, breaking it down into smaller parts, and then completing each of those parts one at a time, makes you feel successful. Each time you complete a mini goal or smaller task, it's the same as crossing a finish line. First you feel like a winner. And as you achieve your goals, part by part, your self esteem goes up and up and up. It's for this reason that you clearly lay out the standards and measures that you're going to use to determine your progress toward your goals. And then you achieve those standards. I have an expression that I use with regard to my own activities. I call it a job of work. This is a task with a beginning, a middle and an end. I plan every day around these jobs of work. I strive to complete specific tasks one at a time. Each time you complete a task on the way to a goal, you get a burst of energy, enthusiasm and self esteem. You feel more capable and competent. You feel more motivated and empowered to do even more work, finish more tasks, get more things done and be even more successful. Nothing succeeds like success. Here's a very simple success technique that you can use. Select a goal that's important to you. Perhaps your goal is to double your income over the next 12 to 24 months. Write this down as a goal at the top of a page. Then make a list of at least 20 actions that you could take to achieve that goal. Write down the books you could read, the audios you could listen to, the courses you could attend, and the specific actions that you could take immediately to add value and increase your income. Every day, when you plan out the hours ahead, put one or more of these items on your list. Resolve to complete that item by the end of the day. As you tick off the items on your list, each one of them will make you feel even more powerful and competent. It will motivate you and stimulate you to accomplish even more tasks. Soon you'll get up in the morning, full of energy and enthusiasm, eager to start the day and complete task after task after task. This is the real secret of success. Each time you complete a task or part of a task, your self esteem and self confidence goes up. Pretty soon nothing will be able to stop you. You will become like an irresistible force of nature. No matter how many setbacks or problems you have, you will persist and keep going over every obstacle until you finally win through. Perhaps the best news of all is that you will actually shape your personality and character in a positive way. You will become strong, determined, confident, and eventually unstoppable. And this will not be based on wishing and hoping. Your courage and confidence will be based on the fact that you have set goals, created plans, and then carried out your plans step by step until you succeeded. Now, here's an exercise for you. Select one specific task that you've been putting off and resolve to start on it and complete it as soon as possible. Make a habit of starting and completing important tasks every day. This will supercharge your personality, raise your self esteem and drive you forward toward greater success. In the next motivational moment, you will learn a key factor for success in any field.
