How to Set Financial Goals for a Positive Money Mindset Your money will make you rich or poor, depending on the uses you put it to. Brian Tracy when it comes to achieving your personal and business goals, money tends to be the yardstick by which success is measured. But more than that, when you set achievable financial goals, you set the stage to build a positive money mindset. At this point, you you may be asking, what exactly is a money mindset? A money mindset is your attitude towards money. It is your overriding beliefs about your finances. Your mindset around money drives your financial decisions every day and this directly impacts your ability to achieve your goals as well as your overall happiness and stress levels. To take this a step further, a positive money mindset is one in which you rid your mind of all limiting beliefs preventing you from taking action. Then start looking at the world through an opportunistic lens to fully achieve abundance in your life. As you can see, developing a positive money mindset or a positive way of seeing money is crucial for your overall success and well being. While money can be a stressful topic for many, if you change your mindset about it, you can make better choices and overcome challenges while allowing yourself to set better financial goals. To help you discover how to set financial goals for a positive money mindset, here are five actionable steps to getting there. Step 1 Start with your core values in order to find true financial success, you must determine what it is you believe in and stand for. Your core values will help dictate not only your financial habits, but your other goals as well. So when you align your work and personal life to support your financial goals, you'll find it much easier to reach them or any goal you set for yourself. Doing this allows you to take a second look at your finances and remove things you're spending money on that don't align with your values and cut them out to start feeling better about your financial habits. It also allows you to look at things you align with and invest in to make you feel better about how you're allocating your money. Step 2 Align goals with your values now that your values are out on the table, it's time to take a look at your goals, especially your goals around money, and see how they stack up against your values. For example, if you value community service and giving back but your money habits don't reflect that, maybe it's time to set a goal to donate to charity. Step 3 Think big, but start small. Self made millionaires all started with a dream and one of their secrets to financial success was is dreaming big but starting small and taking action to follow their path to success. Imagine the amount of money you'd like to earn and have in your bank account. Then work back from your successful future to the present, making a list and breaking that amount down into smaller and smaller amounts, each attainable by actionable logical steps. This list should show you exactly what steps it will take to get you from where you are now to where you want to be. Step 4 Plan it out Many fail to realize that financial goals are long term strategies, but those with financial freedom are patient, persistent and farsighted. They discipline themselves to save, earn and accumulate money over many years. So if you want to accomplish your own long term goals, apply a smart goal strategy to your goals around your finances. Your new goals should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and timely. If you apply the same habits those with financial freedom use and carefully plan out your own financial future with patience, you will put yourself in a position to surpass your own goals. Step 5 Expect the best the Law of Expectation says whatever you expect with confidence, positive or negative, becomes your reality. If you confidently expect to become wealthy, hold to that belief and act as if your financial success is inevitable. By taking consistent action towards your goals, you will eventually achieve that goal. These benefits are completely under your control. You decide for yourself if you want to become rich and how you will get there. As you can see, when you break your financial goals down into short and long term goals with actionable steps, you will create a long term financial strategy. This sets the stage for you to build a positive money mindset. This positive money mindset then allows you to see opportunities for an abundant future and will help eliminate limiting beliefs around money and will lead you to your inevitable future financial success.
