Hello, I'm Brian Tracy. As you probably know, I've written 72 books. I write and publish four or five books each year with major publishers in the United States, Canada, and worldwide. So I know a little bit about it. Question always comes to me. How do you start writing a book? Well, the starting point is you look within yourself and you ask, what message do you have that could really benefit or help or change other people? What message do you have that you would want your children to know, to be able to live a better life? What message do you have inside that burns inside of you? You like to talk about it and explain it. And when you see articles in the newspaper about your message, you've got an opinion you want to say or something, comment, something, this is where you start. It's got to come out of you. And then what you have to do is remember that the great rule of life is prioritizing. You have so many ideas, but you've got to select one. And then what you do is you write at the top of a piece of paper. What are all the things I would want to talk about or include in this book if I was going to write it? And then you just simply write your answer to this question. Well, well, I want to mention this and I want to mention that. And I want to mention this statistic and this quote and this story, and you just start writing. When I start to write a book, this is my technique, and I'll end up sometimes with three long pages of points. Point, point, point, point. This is the starting point. It's almost like starting off down a hill when you're skiing. You then start to move faster and faster. So to reiterate or to repeat, pick a subject that you really care about. Write a question at the top of the page. What are all the items that I would like to include in this subject? And then just write down everything that you could think of that you would put into this subject. And that's the starting point. The next point, of course, is to organize the material into logical chapters and to begin the writing process, which is what we teach you in how to Write a Book and get published.
