You have within you right now everything you need to deal with whatever the world can throw at you. Hello, I'm Brian Tracy, and welcome to the next part of my video question and Answer series, where I answer some of the questions you sent over to me by social media. In today's video, I'll be answering your specific questions to help you get on the path to success in your personal and professional life. Now, the first question comes from Alvin, who asked, how do I stay positive and energized when dealing with negative situations or circumstances? Well, there's a whole series of answers to that, but what I found is that the only way to overcome worry or negativity is continuous action in the direction of your goal. In military terms, they call this the continuous offensive, always being, attacking and moving forward. And when you get really busy working on your goals and your responsibilities, you stop worrying and you overcome negativity. Now, a second rule that I learned in life is if you are dealing with negative people or negative situations, make a decision to get out of that situation. Walk away from the job, get away from the people. Remember, you don't have to stay there and be subject to negativity. Macbeth by Shakespeare had this line, deal with a field of troubles, and in so doing, end them. And if you have difficulties or negative things in your life, deal with them and end them and then get on with your life. The second question comes from Raul, who asked, do you have any tips or tricks for how I can read more books and actually retain the information I consume? Well, this is a great question. I've read more than 6,000 books and I still read two books a week and dozens of magazines and newspapers. So one of the tricks that I have found is, first of all, when you're reading a book, you do a quick overview. And the overview means that you look at the table of contents and then you just page through the book, quick, quickly, to see how the book is laid out, to see what the titles are and the subtitles, to see what quotes are in italics and so on. And when you do this, it's sort of like the first pass. It takes you about five or ten minutes to do an overview of an entire book and sort of get a sense for how the book is written. The second thing you do is an in view, and this is where you start reading and you use your hand so you're reading down the page and you're following quickly, which enables you to keep focused on words and go faster through the pages. I used to teach super learning, and this is One of the great techniques. Another thing that I find is always use a pen and when you come across a piece of information that's really good, underline it or put a star or an asterisk or an exclamation point in the margin next to it or even turn down the page so that you can go back to the key points. One of the things I've done over the years is I'll do this and I'll go through the entire book and it takes a while, and then I'll go back through and dictate all the key points that I noted in the book and I'll have someone type them up and send them back to me. And now you can read all the key points in that whole book over again in a matter of 10 or 15 minutes. 300 pages in 10 or 15 minutes. Remember this, it takes about 6 overviews, reviews in Views and so on for you to retain 80 to 90% of the book. But if it's a good book, it's really worth it. The last question comes from Ron, who said, how do you train your brain to not fear success and instead embrace it? Well, the most powerful words that I've ever learned to overcome the big fears, the fears of failure, the fears of rejection, the fears of loss, the fears of embarrassment or disapproval, especially if you're in sales and marketing, are these powerful words, I can do it. I can do it. I can do it. You see, the interesting thing is your level of self esteem. How much you like yourself determines your level of self confidence. And if you have high self esteem, you have high self confidence. And it's very much like a teeter totter. As your self confidence and self esteem goes up, your fears go down until they disappear. And every time you say something like, I like myself and I can do it, your confidence goes up and your fears go down. And if you repeat these over and over, you eventually program them into your subconscious mind. And before where you would think about prospecting or calling on people or making a presentation and. And you'd be fearful. You're fearful for a few seconds and then your subconscious mind reminds you, hey, you can do this, you can do this. You're a good person, you can do this. So just repeat I like myself, I can do it over and over until those feelings become automatic. So thank you to everyone who sent in your questions.
