One of the most popular New Year's resolutions is how to quit smoking. And of course, we know that smoking is associated with 32 different diseases, including cancer from everything from brain tumor to nasal cancer to throat cancer to esophageal cancer to lung cancer to heart cancer and stomach cancer and everything else. So why is it that people don't quit smoking? Well, there's several different reasons. The fact is, the worst thing is that people start off in the morning smoking a cigarette. So here's the starting point of quitting smoking is visualize yourself as a non smoker. Keep repeating to yourself these magic words, I am a non smoker. I am a non smoker. I am a nonsmoker. If you accidentally light a cigarette, put it out quickly, keep saying, wait a minute, I'm a nonsmoker. Visualize yourself as clean and clear, with a healthy mouth, with healthy lungs, and keep saying, I am a non smoker. One of two things can happen, based on my experience with millions of people, is you may very quickly stop smoking, or you may see no improvement at all for a week, two weeks, three weeks. And then when you wake up in the morning, you reach for a cigarette and you'll almost throw up and you'll never smoke again. A final piece of advice on how to quit smoking is, is to imagine smoking as the same as taking dog manure into your mouth. Think of the taste of dog manure every time you think of a cigarette. By associating the two dog manure, which is a nice word to put it, and smoking. Eventually you reach the point where you completely turn off to smoking for the rest of your life. So set it as a goal, make a plan, and discipline yourself to keep talking to yourself in a positive way every single day until you stop smoking forever.
