In this 15th installment of his 30‑day video challenge, Brian Walsh addresses the common experience of hitting a plateau during midlife or mid‑career. He identifies a primary cause he calls “the end of mentoring,” where long‑time mentors either leave the organization or are outgrown as individuals evolve, leaving a gap in guidance and support. Walsh shares personal anecdotes about not realizing a mentor’s value until they departed and explains how role changes can render previous mentorship irrelevant. He promises to offer practical ideas and strategies for thriving without mentors, tying this to his broader “Live Life Integrated” framework. He encourages viewers to subscribe to his weekly email for ongoing advice and hints at additional content for the remaining 15 days of the challenge and beyond.

All right, reach day 15 of the 30 day video challenge. And today I want to talk a little bit about midlife or mid career. If you're at this stage, you may have experienced a bit of a plateau or even feeling like your career is stagnating a little bit. And one of the reasons I think that happens to many of us is that it's what I call the end of mentoring. We've had a lot of people in our career up to this point that have provided leadership and guidance and support. And for a variety of reasons, those people are starting to no longer play that role. Either they are leaving the workplace or leaving the organizations for various reasons, which is difficult because sometimes you don't quite realize exactly what they are providing. It's like we don't know what we have until it's gone. I've had people leave and I didn't even realize how important of a mentor they were until they were gone. Also, I think because of various things, we outgrow our mentors. Either we change roles or we just become different people. They change or become different people and they no longer provide that mentorship and leadership that we were kind of relying on as we were progressing up in our careers. I have a lot of ideas of how we can improve the situation for ourselves when we're at this midpoint in our career, our life, and I'm excited to share those with you. That's a lot of what Live Life Integrated is all about and why. I hope that if you're watching this, you consider subscribing to my weekly email because that's one of the things that I will talk about over the coming year here. How can we continue to thrive and excel in all areas of our life, even when we're at midlife, mid career, even when we don't have mentors? I really look forward to sharing all this with you and more. We got another 15 days of videos and probably much more content even after that. Thanks for watching. We'll talk to you soon.
