In this brief video, Brian Walch outlines his professional journey spanning over two decades in IT consulting and project management. He recounts earning a degree in technical communication with a minor in computer science, marrying, and moving to Alaska where he attempted to launch a web‑design business. While seeking clients, he secured a full‑time position at Resource Data, which launched his long‑term consulting career—a path he describes as diverse, challenging, and constantly evolving. After three years working at a Silicon Valley startup, he returned to consulting, bringing valuable lessons from that experience. Walch concludes by expressing his ongoing goal to add value to others through his work and upcoming video series.

Today is a little bit about me professionally. Currently I am an IT consultant. I do project management mostly, but I started this career well over 20, almost 25 years ago. I had a pretty colorful career in college and actually ended up graduating with a degree in technical communication and some computer science. Pretty much a minor in computer science. And I was married at that time, moved up to Alaska and I wanted to start a web design company and do program websites. And as I was looking for clients, I actually found my current employer, Resource Data. They offered me a full time job and as a young married person I thought that was a pretty good idea to have some stability instead of trying to eke out a living. So I did that. That led to a career in consulting, which I love. I love the diversity, the challenge, things being new and exciting. I took a small break in there in that time to work at a startup in Silicon Valley. We moved down to the Bay Area for three years, which was an awesome experience. I learned a ton of things, lessons that I still take with me today, but came back to consulting and I like the newness and the way everything changes all the time. So here's where I'm at. I'm looking for new and exciting ways to continue to add value in the world and continue adding value to people I interact with. I hope that as we go on in this journey of videos that you'll start getting some value out of these. Thanks for being along. We'll see you soon.
