In this motivational monologue, Brian Walsh discusses how setting ambitious goals—illustrated by his recent completion of a demanding endurance event—requires the development of specific habits. He observes that the habits formed to achieve the big goal have persisted, albeit at a reduced intensity, and reflects that the true purpose of his goals is to cultivate lasting healthy habits. Walsh emphasizes a philosophy of "integrated living," where small, consistent actions lead to significant life shifts. He encourages viewers to consider the habits needed to reach their own goals and to continue those habits beyond goal attainment, offering inspiration for the upcoming year.

All right, so for today, I want to talk a little bit about goals and habits. I am one that sets goals, and I've often set goals in life. They're a way to help motivate me and give me something to strive for. I recently set a goal of doing this big endurance event, and it required me to build a lot of habits if I was going to achieve that goal and. And continue on in those habits. So I've completed that goal. But what I notice is that those habits have stuck around. Maybe not at the same level that they were to reach that big goal, but definitely I've built some new habits and some good habits that I think will continue producing change. And so I've started thinking this year about some goals that I want to do. And as I'm thinking about them, I'm thinking about the habits that I want to install in achieving those goals. So it's almost like the goal of the goal is to build healthy habits. I really do think that habits can have these really small things that we do that make big changes in our life or that result in big changes in our life. And that's kind of my philosophy of live life integrated. Small changes can lead to big shifts. So maybe that will give you a little bit of inspiration as you head into this year and you're thinking about some of the goals you have is to think, what habits do I need to install to reach that goal? Or. And whichever way, what habits do I want to build in achieving that goal and continue on after I've reached that goal? Hope that helps. And I'll look forward to continuing on this conversation till next time.
