Day 24 Why a Framework

Brian Walch introduces his Integrated Life Framework, a personal development system that organizes different life roles like husband, father, and employee. A framework helps process information faster, reveals growth opportunities, and enables intentional change by clarifying what you want and where to act.

All right, I'm coming to the end of my 30 day video challenge. And for the last seven videos, I'm actually going to go through what I call the Integrated Life Framework. And this is something that I've developed over the years, just as a way for me to kind of organize and categorize personal development and all the things that I have learned and think about and do over time, whether it's being a husband or a father and an employee or a friend, just whatever the different things I've done, I've needed a way to process things. And so I put together this framework and I really understood the value of frameworks when I was doing software development. They really helped us when we developed a framework or when we put in place a framework for our project. It helped us to develop faster, add features more quickly and include new team members, bring them on board more quickly and so they could become productive members of the team. So I found that frameworks are very valuable. And so I'm going to go over this framework over the next six days after today. But here's why I think that a framework is valuable for personal development. So, number one is it helps you to process new information. So when you read books or articles or get information about personal development, you can apply them at the right level. And I just shared a bunch of resources and so some of those apply for different roles, some of those apply for your individual self. Number two, it identifies growth opportunities so you can see where you want to grow and really focus your efforts in that effort in that way. One of the things that's hard for me is to just know what I want in life. Sounds silly, but it's true. And having this framework has helped me understand my own personal desires, what I want out of life, and how to get those. And then lastly, a framework I think will help you make intentional changes. Sounds a little formal, sounds a little weird to put together a framework for personal development. But I think when you have one and you say, well, I want to change this about myself, or I want to change this about my situation, it will help to identify where are the places you want to make changes and what are some of the things you can do to affect those changes. So tomorrow we'll be talking about the Integrated Life Framework. Just a quick overview and then I'm going to dive into each of the layers. Hope you'll join me on this journey and we'll see you tomorrow. Thanks.
