Day 25 ILF Introduction

Brian Walch introduces the Integrated Life Framework, five concentric circles mapping your life from core Self outward through Practices, Manifestations, Roles, and Environment. The Self is your stable essence, discoverable through tools like the Enneagram. Each layer shapes the others: your practices reveal who you are, your manifestations show how you express it, your roles are what you do, and your environment includes the physical spaces and relationships around you.

All right, so video number two. We're going to talk about the Integrated Life Framework, and I'm going to give you the quick introduction into the different layers. I'll post a link to an article I wrote introducing this so you can have a visual. But just imagine five concentric circles working from inside out. So at the very core is the self. And the way I defined the self was this is the person you were born to be as, as of today. Now, generally, the self is something that does not change. But what I've found is that you discover and you reveal the self. One of the important tools that I think is helpful at this level is the Enneagram. So if you haven't ever heard of the Enneagram or you haven't looked into it much, it's definitely a great tool and can open up some paths for personal development. Then the next layer out from that is the practices and practices are things you do but you'd never complete. And some of the things I put into this layer are faith, mindfulness, and creativity. These practices are things that can reveal things about yourself. You know, the way you practice mindfulness or the way you practice creativity. It's. And even faith may reveal things about who you are yourself. And these practices can also modulate how yourself reveals itself to the world. Just think about anger, you know, we can feel, and the way we internalize anger is one way. Well, how that comes out can be influenced by our practices. And then the third layer is the manifestations. And so the way I define the manifestations are the way the self shows itself to the world. And in this layer, I put all the things like hobbies, even our career choices, what our interests or likes and dislikes are tangible things that are who you are. And then, so that's three layers. At the fourth layer out, this concentric circle is roles. And this is pretty straightforward. What are the. All the parts you play in life? Father, husband, son, friend, employee, project manager, wine lover, runner, you just on and on and on. You can make this list as exhaustive as you want, but it's a part you play in life. And then lastly is the environment. And quite simply, I define this as the physical and psychological space we interact in. I actually broke this down into three different components. There's a physical environment, which is like our built environment. There's the relational environment, so like our friend groups and who we hang out with, and our emotional environment, which is probably a little harder to define. But, you know, it's like the interactions of the dynamics of your relationships. How you interact and communicate with your spouse or your partner or your friends, your co workers. So that's all the environment. And those are really the five layers. Those are the five layers of the integrated life framework. So the next five videos, I'm going to go into a little bit more depth on each of those. Have a great weekend and we will see you here Monday.
