One of the books that I recently read that I think is required reading for every manager is Russ Laraway's when they Win, you Win. He describes how to measure manager success. He articulates two things. One is deliver aligned result so that the manager is delivering results to the organization, and 2 enable success of your employees. I would add a third in there, which is your personal fulfillment as a manager. What I loved about his book was he made it very simple and accessible to understand how to identify what is success for the manager and gives tons of practical ideas of how you can be better as a manager and help your employees succeed and deliver an aligned result.
