This content was created by Bridgeen Rea-Kaya. This content was uploaded by Bridgeen Rea-Kaya. This is a YouTube video titled "My 2024 Positive Neuroplasticity (PNT) Course" (posted January 3, 2024). It is a first-person, promotional/personal monologue by the speaker (identifying herself as Bridget) presenting an 8-week Positive Neuroplasticity course starting January 9, 2024. The speaker gives a New Year message, explains the course purpose (rewiring the brain to reduce negativity bias), curriculum elements (meditation, psychoeducation, cohort work, WhatsApp group, booklet), logistical details (Zoom delivery, 2.5-hour sessions for 8 weeks), pricing (£300 currently rising to £350 on January 5), and her credentials (teaching mindfulness since 2007, online since 2020, trained with Rick Hanson and listed to teach in Europe). The video is a mix of encouragement, marketing, and personal reflection (she mentions turning 50 in 2024).
Chapters
Hello, it's Bridget. I'm having a cup of tea and it's the first of January, so I thought I would do a little video for everybody. Happy New Year! Happy New Year! Welcome to 2024. It's a big year for me for many reasons, but I'm here to talk about you, and I'm going to talk about your mind and your brain because some of you, myself included, have been thinking, you know, what should I do for this new year? What resolutions should I do? I'm gonna get up early, I'm gonna be fit, and I'm gonna do this, and I'm gonna do that. And yeah, at the end of the day, it's our mind that creates our world. It's our mind that determines whether an experience is a good experience or a bad experience. And as it happens, I have a wonderful 8-week program called Positive Neuroplasticity, which is all about your mind. Which is all about using your brain to change your mind and becoming more positive. So, um, it was developed by an amazing neuroscientist called Rick Hanson, and he coined the phrase that we are like Velcro for negativity and we are like Teflon for positivity. I just think about that for a second. It's this kind of idea where where, you know, somebody gives you a compliment, just slides off. Somebody insulted you 2 years ago, totally remember that person because it's the negative things that we really chew on. And, you know, if there's anything bothering you right now, it's something probably annoying, some difficult thing that's happened. And not to make light of difficult things, but a lot of things in our life are maybe not as bad as our memories of them. mind likes to think they are. And we are inclined, and it's totally natural. It's not just you or me, it's everybody. It's, um, it's called rumination. It's like a cow, you know, the word rumination. A cow has 4 stomachs. It's just going over and over the same things. And this is, um, the Velcro and the Teflon thing. It's basically a way of describing our negativity bias, which means, um, you know, positive things can't hurt us. So it's the negative things that we're on high alert for, that we worry about, that we ruminate on, and we go over again and again and again. And actually they can spoil our experience. And you know, 2024 goes by and we miss our appointment with life. We miss the special things. We miss the good things because we haven't really taken them in. We haven't really cultivated and noticed. And I'm using the word cultivation because this program, this Positive Neuroplasticity program, I'll just call it PNT for short, 'cause it's kind of a mouthful. PNT, it's teaching us to really take in the good. And it's not about thinking positive or, you know, doing positive affirmations. It's not like that. It's actually working on rewiring your brain. And I think that's really good news. The good news is that you, you're not fixed. It used to be thought that when you were 25, that your brain is set and that's it. But actually the neuroscience has proven that you can still change your mind, even if you're 75 and you've never done this before and you want To start. Anything we do actually changes our brain, changes our mind. You know, we just have something that we repeatedly do will make a new neural pathway. And in this course, we're going to be repeatedly taking in the good, noticing what's not wrong. We're going to be doing some meditation and you're going to be getting lots of, you know, psychoeducation. lots of information about your brain and how it works, which will support you. And I knew, 'cause I taught this course last year, and I have to say, there's a woman who did the course and is now suffering from cancer, but she said that what she learned on the course has helped her to cope with her treatment and what she's going through. So yeah, it's, in some ways you might think, oh, that's not much, you know, just learning how to think positive. You're actually rewiring your brain. So in any situation, even a difficult situation, you can see the good. And that is a powerful way to go through life. It's a powerful way to set yourself up, whatever your resolutions are, whether you're making lots of resolutions or you're just gonna be kinder to yourself, or you're gonna start a new diet or whatever you want to do this year. If you can do it with positive neuroplasticity, with a positive slant of being able to see the good in any and all situations, I think it'll make a big difference. And I hope you'll join me. Now I have to say it's starting on the 9th, the 9th of January 2024, and the price goes up on the 5th of January. So you literally have 4 days. It's currently £300 and it goes up to £350 on the 5th of January because everybody comes last minute and does my head in. So I'm trying to get you to, if you're interested, you just have to let me know and you know, I'll keep the price at the price it is right now. But if you come to me last minute, then I'm Jigging around and fitting everybody in. It is a Zoom course, but you do need to get a wee booklet and lots of info and back and forth and join a WhatsApp group. And there's a little bit of that. And you go through it together with a cohort of people, which is also really powerful because you start to realize I'm not the only one who thinks like this and I'm not the only one has this difficulty. So that kind of common humanity is actually really helpful. But don't worry, you don't have to share too much or too much of anything really. You know, it's all— It goes by whoever's in the class and what they want to, what they feel comfortable with. So yeah, everybody is looked after. I've been teaching online since 2020, and I've been teaching mindfulness since 2007. So you're in good hands. And yeah, there's lots of great feedback about the course as well. So yeah, there's loads of links on my website. There's links to Rick Hanson, who also teaches the course. There's a link to my qualifications. And my certification that, um, I'm actually the only trained, um, teacher in the UK and Ireland that's listed on his website, um, to teach this course. Not the only trained person, there's lots of people trained with me, but I happen to be the only one, um, that's listed for Europe. Um, not everybody is teaching this course. It's, it's quite a full-on course. It's 2 and a half hours for 8 weeks. Um, so it's intense, but if it wasn't intense, Then you wouldn't get the progress. You wouldn't be able to change your brain, rewire your brain. So go and have a cup of tea. Think about it. Think about the PNT. Have tea and think about PNT. Think about positive neuroplasticity. And even if you don't do the course, you know, my intention is to do it every January. So maybe I'll do it another year. And yeah, I hope this is really a good year for you, 2024. It's the year that I turn 50, so I'm hoping it's a good year for me too. And I'm sending lots of love to everybody. And thank you for staying. For this video. Bye!
