Did you ever have one of those days when this little golden nugget of what somebody said really stuck in your head and you felt like it was a big key to how we operate and how we live our lives? Well, I was having a conversation with my marketing person and by the way, if you need a marketing person, you should check her out. Her name is rebecca gunter@stonefruit.com and rebecca has been with us a long while and really kind of brings the magic to our words and thoughts. As an accountant, many times, I think in technical writing rather than marketing and creative writing, that really puts a message behind it. And Rebecca is the queen of putting that punch behind it. So check her out. But Rebecca said something in our conversation the other day that has stuck with me. We were talking about making decisions and sometimes I'll talk to people and they'll say, well, let me think about it. The let me think about it is a stall tactic in most cases. And I try to help people get to the root of why they say that. What is the consideration that's saying, this is a slam dunk, I should do it right now versus let me think about it. And most of the time their answer ultimately when they say let me think about it is that means they're not going to do anything, they're not going to take action. And we were talking about that very principle. Rebecca said, remember that no decision is in fact a decision. And I thought, wow, yeah, that really makes sense. So think about it when you are in decision making mode or if you were in front of a customer who says, let me think about that and I'll get back to you. Nine times out of ten, you'll never hear from them again. They're not going to move forward. So you haven't done your job and really nailing down what the value is for that person. But remember in all terms that your lack of making a decision is in fact a decision. So keep that little nugget in your head as you think about how you'll move forward in your business by not making a decision on changes that need to be made or that you're considering. You are in fact making a decision. A little plug here, but I hear this all the time in the accounting space, nobody goes to bed or wakes up in the morning and says, oh my gosh, I'd love to just get a new accountant. Today is the day. Nobody says that. I get that. I want you to feel that when I talk with you. But by not making that move to go the next direction and advance your business and take it further than just your headspace. Add another professional into the mix to help you make decisions. You are, in fact, making a decision to stay stagnant, to stay right where you are, to not move forward. I understand sometimes we get comfortable where we're at, but you always have to be advancing in your business. That's what being a business owner is all about. So if this message resonates with you, first, I'm going to tell you, check out Rebecca. She's amazing today. Secondly, if you've been delaying making a decision on your accounting and financial needs and the growth of your business, I'd love to talk with you to show you what it would be like if you made that leap and were able to all of a sudden add new talents and new information to your decision making to help you make a real decision, not just a non.
