Ryan Daniel Moran breaks down what multimillionaires actually do every day: journaling one goal, eating whole foods, exercising in the morning, consuming quality content, surrounding themselves with ambitious people, and planning years ahead. He ties each habit to his own path through masterminds and building on Amazon.

Well, hey there. You look so handsome. Oh, sorry. There was a mirror there. Hey, everybody, this is Ryan Daniel Moran, and you're listening to Freedom Fastlane. Man, what a whirlwind. At the time of this recording, Freedom Fastlane is just soaring up the itunes chart. And I know I say that on just about every podcast, but as of this recording, we are officially a top 10 podcast on iTunes, which is pretty exciting. So thank you for all of your support and all of your reviews and for sharing the love over at itunes and for sending your encouragement and leaving comments on the Freedom Fastlane blog. We're a top 10 show in the marketing category and quickly rising in the business category. So, again, I'm humbled, I'm excited, I'm thankful, and I promise to keep delivering as much awesome content as I possibly could. You know, I know I've told this story a hundred times now here on the podcast, but it was just about a year and a half ago that I decided to shut down my business where I sold products, teaching Internet marketing, because I just didn't feel good about it. I just didn't feel like I was ethically aligned with it. And I wanted to talk about other things. And it's amazing. I gave a toast at a dinner I was having with the tribe. The tribe is my mastermind group currently closed. It's going to be opening again here in October. So if you've been looking to get plugged in with that mastermind group, we'll be opening it up again in October. And I was having a dinner in Vegas and I was holding up a glass of wine, and I said, I shut down my business a year and a half ago because I didn't have. I didn't have the tribe. I didn't have my group of people that I wanted to share and mastermind and network with. And I just never felt like I was directly impacting people's lives. And then when I shut down my business and decided to go in a new direction, I invited some people to join me. And I said, I'm going in a new direction. I'm starting some new businesses. If you'd like to join me on that path, this is where I'm going. Feel free to join. And since then, we've had 150 people be in the tribe. And it's amazing I said this while I was giving this toast. It's amazing that I finally got what I was after, which was a tribe of people that we were mentoring to success. And I only got it once. I gave up the struggle of trying to force it to happen. So I bring all this up to say when I started this podcast, I didn't mean for this long intro. So forgive me, but when I started this podcast, I just decided to say this is where we're going. We are going to be inspiring, educating and empowering people to live extraordinary lives. And this is where I'm heading and I'm gonna talk about this stuff. And if anybody listens, great. And as a result, in less than a year, We're a top 10 marketing podcast on iTunes. We're like a top 25 podcast in the business category in general. And we're rocketing up. And I'm thankful to all of you for listening and sharing and reviewing and rating and doing all the things that you've done to make this show a success. So thank you. I mean that very sincerely. I really appreciate you listening to Freedom Fast Lane. You know, I have so much I want to tell you about because I, I'm taking some businesses in a new direction. I am starting to get back into the game of, of creating information products, but real briefly and then I'll get into the actual content for today. But I, I've always said I wanted to come back to creating information products and I have been beating my head against the wall wondering what products do I want to release. And I have people who are asking me to talk about Amazon and we'll keep talking about Amazon here on the podcast. I see a big spike every time we talk about Amazon on the podcast. So here you go, Amazon's great. Amazon.com youm can buy stuff there, there, there's our plug for Amazon for the day. But I've been beating my head against the wall wondering what products is it that I release in order to really impact some people that's in line with my brand. And I've been coming up with all these names and product ideas and none of them felt right. And then I've just. In a moment of relaxation while talking with a friend, we brought up an old business idea I had that really targeted men and challenged men to rise up and live at their full potential. And I really believe that a lot of the world's problems directly come to men not owning themselves and being real men. I.
Have some opinions on this, of the trend of men to be lazy and not driven and directionless. And I think I can help. And so we've been outlining products that directly target that, that aren't necessarily business related, but head in the direction that I want to take my Personal brand in the future.
So that was me talking about myself for five and a half minutes. Let's talk about something else today. What I want to talk about is daily success habits. I have been, I have been surrounded by multi millionaires since I was 18 years old when I started my first business and somehow got known for doing what I do. I joined mastermind groups. I mean, I paid. I have paid as much as $25,000 a year to be a part of a mastermind group just to be around multimillionaires. I was 22 years old at the time and not in a position where that was chump change at all. I was not as successful as I am today and. And as a result I have noticed certain patterns about really successful people. And lately there has been.
I don't know, a pressing on me to really talk more about what it takes to be successful because I see the trend of society heading so much towards such an entitlement philosophy. And I don't mean to get political on you, but I see a trend of people wanting to take from those who have give to those who either don't have or aren't willing to do what it takes in order to acquire something. And I think that is very dangerous. And I want to dispel the myth that success is just something that you happen upon. It's just something that happens to you because that is not the case. I believe very strongly that Jim Rohn was right when he says that success is something that you attract by the person that you become. I know lots of people who achieve a certain amount of success and get lucky. And because they are not a successful person, they don't have a successful mindset. It is all gone within a period of 12 months. I know many people like this. I know many people who are not willing to do what it takes to be truly successful. Because success is not built by a business that you work on. Success is not the result of a girl or a guy that you meet. It is not the result of meeting one contact that takes you to new heights. Success is what you do from the time that you wake up in the morning until the time that you go to bed at night. What you put your focus on and what you invest in it is a process of becoming a successful person with a successful mindset. That is how you really earn and keep success. I like the theory that if you did true communism and you redistributed wealth equally across every person in the world, within about two years, it would be back in the hands of the people who currently have it. Because some people have a successful mindset and some people don't. And I have been speaking with a lot of people ever since I spoke on stage in front of 3,000 at Amazing Selling Machine a few weeks ago. And with freedom fast lane growing and the podcast getting more attention, I have been approached by a lot of people who think that success is something outside of themselves. They think that it is something that they get or they something that they earn. But success is really something that you become and you attract it as a result of who you become. So if you become a successful person, you can lose it all and get it back very quickly. If you are not a successful minded person, you can earn the world and it will be taken from you in the blink of an eye. So I want to talk about some habits that would behoove you to practice on your path to success and your path for freedom. And the first habit, and you can write this one down if you're a writer downer that it starts right when you wake up in the morning. The successful people that I know, including myself, have a habit of writing down their goals, or at least the things that are most important to them right when they wake up in the morning. So I am a voracious journaler. I'm reading out of a journal right now. My notes for my podcast. I also have a journal where I write notes to myself. I have a journal where I write down what I'm grateful for. I have a journal where I write down the things that I want to do today. And the most important thing that I could do today. If we're gonna make this really simple, when you wake up in the morning, the first thing you should be doing after you get a glass of water is write down your goals and write down the most important thing that you can do today that will make it more possible for you to achieve these goals. So as soon as you wake up in the morning writing down what your goals look like, especially your immediate goals, I look for my immediate goals like my one month goals. And I'm looking at my one year goals and then my five year or my someday goals. And then I'm asking myself the question, and this is straight out of Gary Keller's book called the One Thing, what is the one thing that I can do today? That by doing it everything else becomes easier or unnecessary. That is productivity. When you could focus your energy on the one thing that makes all other things easier or unnecessary. Sometimes these things are very simple other things, other times these are things that you've been putting off for way too friggin long. So that is a very empowering question of what's that one thing that I can do to move these goals that I just wrote down? What can I do to move them further along today? If I get that one thing done, I will consider it a productive day. So your first success habit is writing down what your goals are and what the one thing that you can do today is that will be a good use of your time that will make all of these goals easier or unnecessary. I have a podcast called two Secrets to Success where I talk about result driven activity. Two habits that you can get into are focusing on result driven activity and that is your one thing. What's that Result driven activity that is going to make it easier or faster for you to acquire or achieve the goals that you wrote down previously. Another thing that I write down often in my long term journal, which is one of my other journals, is I define what the next level looks like to me right now. For example, on my men's fitness company, my next level looks like developing really high quality content for the audience because right now we're not doing any content marketing to that audience. It looks like having a customer service person who is just on top of things, who is calling our customers and making sure they're happy, answering questions, solving problems very quickly. We have somebody in place. They're kind of still in training at the time of this recording, but she's part of my next level and we're releasing new products in that company. So two more products would complete what I would consider the next level. So a lot of people will say I want to get to the next level, but they never define what it looks like or what action steps they're going to need in order to get to that next level. This is a frequent journal entry of mine. What does the next level look like and what are the action steps that it will require in order for us to get there? So that's something that I'll write about and I'll read it to myself every day. I actually read my journal more than I write in it because I'll go back and I'll read previous goals when I'm feeling very clear minded, I will write letters to myself or write down. I'll write down things that are very important to me so that when I'm feeling not so good about myself or I'm not feeling so clear minded or I'm feeling like I need direction, I can pull out my journal and Say, you know what? When I was feeling full of direction and very clear, this is what I decided. I'm gonna listen to this guy, this guy last week who wrote this note to me saying, hey, when you're feeling down or when you're feeling a lack of direction, do this. Remember that your path is this. I'm gonna listen to this guy. Cause today I'm not feeling so good. And that keeps me on track. When I'm on vacation, that is when I tend to have the most creative and most brilliant thoughts. And that is when I do the most journaling or I write letters to myself. I've written letters to myself from the past saying, hey, this is what I'm going through right now. Don't forget this lesson. Or I write letters to myself from the future where I say, hey, everything works out just fine. You don't have to worry. I know you're worrying right now, and I know that sounds silly, but this is a practice that both myself and a lot of my very successful friends have gotten in the habit of. And the one takeaway I want you to have is that most of the multimillionaires and very successful people that I know write down their goals and they do it every day. And they focus on result driven activity where they ask the question of what can I do today in order to make all of these goals easier to achieve. If I do that thing that then it will be a successful day. The second success habit is paying very close attention to the quality of food that enters your mouth and your body. Do you realize that the food that you eat is an investment? It has a financial output. The food that enters your body actually impacts the amount of money that you make. If you are putting high quality food into your body, you will do better work. You will be around longer to earn more money, you will think clearer, you will be more creative according to the quality of food that enters your mouth and enters your body and exits your body. And it has a financial and a productive output. So when people say that food is expensive, I think it's more expensive to eat crap because it's costing you revenue from your business, from your job, in your workouts, with your family.
When you have no energy and when you're overweight.
Now, I have tested just about every diet out there and I'm not. Originally I was gonna do an entire podcast on, on health and Fitness because I have tested literally every diet out there. I have the stomach of a nine year old girl, I can breathe and get a stomachache and I'VE had that my entire life.
And I have tried to.
I've been vegan, I have been vegetarian, I have eaten mostly raw food, I have been a carnivore, I have done low fat, I have done high fat. And I am of the opinion right now that we all have a different physique and we all have different bodies and not every diet works for everyone. And I am encouraging you to experiment with different types of diets and different types of foods to see what makes you feel best. If you feel good and have lots of energy, that is usually a good indicator that you're on the right path. For me, I have found that I feel the best when I eat a high fat, low carb, high cholesterol, high saturated fat diet. And my sister in law who is a nurse practitioner thinks I'm gonna die soon based on what I eat. But my blood work comes back fantastic. And when I was on different diets, I have all kinds of stomach problems, I am low energy, I don't get as much work done. So I have some very simple rules for eating food. Is it a whole food? If it's not a whole food, don't put it in your body. Meaning processed food, boxed foods, cereals, don't put them in your body. Breads, sugars, those things don't enter your body. If it's green, it's probably good.
Every day. I would encourage you to get into the habit of at least having one green juice or green smoothie. I put spinach and kale into a smoothie or a juice and if you do only that one thing, you will already be more nourished than most people in the world. So my rules are lots of greens and whole foods. That is my rule for healthy eating. And then for me I take it one step further because I found for me I feel best when I'm eating basically a high fat paleo diet where I'm eating, I eat lots of eggs, I eat grass fed meats, I eat tons and tons of vegetables and I don't eat any breads or sugars or rice or cereals. Basically I don't eat any carbs that isn't fruit, vegetables or sweet potatoes. And if I eat beans or quinoa or anything, I'm a wreck. My stomach is an absolute wreck. So I have found that I'm most productive, most clear minded when I'm following a high fat paleo diet. And for you that might be different, but I've experimented with a ton of different diets and that is how I feel the best. If we've been consuming it for, for centuries, it's probably okay.
If it's been invented in the last 50 years, it is probably not something that you should put into your body. Remember, food is an investment because your body is what drives everything.
And to take this one step further, most of the really successful people in their morning routine have exercise built into that. Now for me, that could be 20 minutes of high intensity cardio or it could be an hour of lifting weights. It's how I keep this incredible physique that you see over at freedomfastling.com and on YouTube. YouTube.com freedomfastling and exercise is usually a part of very successful people's morning routine. In fact, let's talk about a morning routine really quickly. In the first hour, waking up. Most of the successful people that I know, their daily routine looks like this. They wake up and have either water or a green juice, they journal, they meditate, they exercise, and then they start their day. That's an awesome morning routine of clearing your mind, planning out what your day is going to look like, and giving yourself some sort of high quality nourishment to really kick start your body. Or for some people, it's bulletproof coffee, which is high quality organic coffee with grass fed butter and coconut oil blended together. So it's like a frothy, fatty coffee. It'll light you up. Man, that is powerful stuff. So that and adding an exercise with that morning routine is a great way to kick start your day. Now why am I spending so much time talking about this? Because the way that you start your day and the way that you prep for the game has everything to do with how you succeed. I have a buddy, his name is Todd Herman and he specializes in coaching high performance athletes and business people. And one of the things that he, and he works with people in the NFL, people in the NBA, and one of the things that he works on with these high performance athletes is their three hour window before a game. Because that is when the brain is starting to prepare for battle. If you get a text message from, from an angry significant other or something derails you within three hours of game time, it can throw off your performance. Well, in the same way, if you're running a business or you're making a change in your life, if you don't prep before it's game time, then you're walking in blind. So what you do within the first hour of waking up has everything to do with your success as a person, your success in your business. If you're not clear on what's going to drive your company forward. If you are not feeling good and energized and clear minded about what steps are going to lead you, well, it's no wonder why you haven't been successful yet. If you have been spinning your wheels looking for success and you don't have good food in your body, a good plan every morning for being productive, and a clear mind, well, then you're going to be spinning your wheels for the rest of your life until you get this done. This is a habit that every successful person that I know follows. In fact, when I was in Thailand about a year and a half ago, I really discovered the deep mind body connection that exists. I went to Thailand right after a major business failure and I was feeling really beat up and I did not feel creative at all. And I had massages every day while I was in Thailand. And finally, while I was having a deep tissue massage one day, I literally felt my brain just become creative again because my body had relaxed. You know, I'm very involved in something called network chiropractic, which if you're not familiar with, I have a podcast where I interview one of the top network chiropractors in the world. His name is John Amaral. You can find it on itunes or freedomfastlane.com and this is work that has profoundly impacted my life because it works directly on the connection between the mind and body, where if the mind is focused on survival, if it's focused on stress, your body will reflect that and vice versa. And by getting one part to relax, you get the other to relax as well. I believe in this very strongly. So network chiropractic helps me literally unwind so that I can continue to be creative.
I have gone into massages or network chiropractic sessions where I feel like I just don't have the answer to a problem. And I come out and the solution just hits me because all of a sudden I realize that I can be productive or creative rather because my mind body connection is healthier. Now I've got my body to relax so my brain can be creative again. Okay, so so far we've covered your morning routine, we've covered the food that enters your body, we've covered exercise, we've covered journaling. The next success habit that I want you to get is analyzing who you hang out with. We've talked about this extensively here at Freedom Fast Lane, but it's worth mentioning that successful people hang around other successful people and people who are more successful than them. If the Only words that you're ever hearing in your brain are, you can't do it or are you doing that stupid thing again? You're going to believe it. If you are constantly surrounded by people who are at a lower level than you, then you have nothing to grow into. But if you are constantly around people who are at a higher level than you, you might beat yourself up a little bit and kick yourself in the pants to get at their level while also getting tips and strategies from those people in order to raise you their level. If you're not hanging out with people who are richer than you, who are in better shape than you, who are healthier than you, who are happier than you, that have better marriages than you, then you will fall to the level of the other people that you are hanging out with. So look at the people around you. They're a great predictor of where you're going next. If you have an unhappy marriage, take a look at the people around you. Are any of them in happy marriages? Probably not, because you're modeling what you're seeing on a regular basis. If you want to have a better marriage, start hanging out with people who have really, really awesome marriages. If you want to have a lot of money in your bank account, start hanging out with people who have a lot of money in their bank account and you'll start to hear the strategies that they implement on a daily basis that give them the result that they currently have that you desire. If you want to get into a mastermind group, mine opens up in October, so it's called the Tribe. You can get more information@tribe of25.com the next success habit that successful people practice is that they feed their brain on a regular basis. Most people who are not successful are not only feeding their bodies with crap, they're feeding their minds with crap. You know, what you listen to has an effect on your brain. If you're listening to to music that is all about hooking up, partying, and big booties, these are the things that you think about. If you're listening to audio tapes of Tony Robbins or Freedom Fastlane or Jim Rohn or Robert Kiyosaki or Eckhart Tolle or anything that will make you a better person, then that is what your brain thinks about. And what you listen to is you practice. That is why podcasts are so effective. That is why putting in success tapes on your route to work has an impact on the success that you experience. If you are listening to top 40 music all the time and you never hang out with People that are at a higher level than you, so you never hear about their strategies. There's no wonder why you're not successful. Because what you listen to and what you read has an impact on your thoughts. And the thoughts that you have are what impact, what results you get. Because what you think about impacts your action. Be very careful with what enters your brain. Be very careful with the beliefs that you choose to adopt and practice. It has everything to do with your success as a person. So successful people read and or listen to other successful people nonfiction that feeds their brain, that makes them a better person in some way either happier, wealthier, better relationships. They are growth minded people and they practice this by reading and feeding their brain with good stuff. The next success habit that really successful people have is that they challenge themselves to come up with their own solutions. Successful people ask, how can I get this done? Unsuccessful people say, show me how to get this done. Now there are exceptions to this, of course. There's something to be said of going to someone who has accomplished something and say, hey, show me how you did that. That's great. But waiting for someone to show you how it's done is very different than challenging yourself to come up with solutions that will get it done. Successful people drive things forward because they are not afraid to make mistakes and because they are not afraid to come up their own solutions even if they are not perfect. Successful people learn a lot by trial and error. But yes, they do go to other people that are in their success network and say, hey, show me what it is that you did to make this process better. But unsuccessful people wait for other people to show them and they don't take action until they have all of the things spelled out for them. Another way that I could say this a little bit better is that unsuccessful people think that there's a perfect roadmap to success. Where successful people realize that they have to come up with their own solutions when they hit a wall. Unsuccessful people believe that there is a simple step by step program that you can follow to take them to a certain result. Where successful people realize that they have to come up with their own solutions. I got so frustrated when I was teaching Internet marketing and Internet business stuff when people would say, can you just give me a step by step program? And I would do it and I would give it to them and they'd say, eh, it's not step by step enough because I came up with this. Successful people come up with solutions to their own questions. Unsuccessful people wait for other people to give them answers before they do anything. And the last successful habit that I want you to pick up on that successful people practice is thinking long term. Successful people think a year ahead or more. Most people think about their day to day. Successful people think about a year, five years, 10 years in the future. And this is a perfect time for me to talk about my concept of investing. I think about everything as an investment. I think about recording this podcast as an investment. Great teaching point here. Podcasting is really hot and buzz worthy right now. Everybody and their mother has a podcast right now. It's really fricking annoying. And there's all these podcasts coming up all the time and everybody's coming on Amazon right now. Thankfully, I was ahead of both of these trends, but everybody is. These are two business things that are really popular right now, podcasting and Amazon. And I've been lucky enough to be successful in both of these. And I think the reason for that is because I had a one year window for both of these. Most people have like a five week window. I know plenty of people who are getting into Amazon businesses and three months in, they quit. This is the case with just about every business. But it's a little bit more with Amazon because you have this thing called inventory and cost of goods sold. But three months in, to most businesses, people quit. Or three months into podcasting, people quit. And I'm looking a year, two years down the road, because I know that a year or two years down the road is going to be here at some point in about a year or two years, if I'm being precise. And I want to be in a certain position by that time. And.
Less than a year into podcasting, we're growing by leaps and bounds and it's been amazing because of the long term plan that we've been thinking about. I've been thinking about, I guess, me and my microphone. And the same is true with Amazon. When my first Amazon business, I put on paying myself for a year because I wanted to be able to invest enough repeatedly so that in one year we were in a certain position. Most unsuccessful people don't think like this. Most people think, what can I get out of this? And how quickly can I get out of this? I was working once for a real estate investment company when I was in high school and I learned a ton from the people that I worked with at this real estate investment company. I basically beat down their door and said, I will not go away until you hire me. Because I was fascinated with investing in real estate at the time, still am. And I Love those people. They taught me a lot about investing. But their strategy at the time, and I think and hope it's changed by now, but at the time, this real estate company's strategy was that they would buy a house, they would go get it appraised and hope that it appraised for more. And they had strategies for acquiring them below market value. But they would go, then go get it appraised with somebody that they, they were confident would appraise it for hire. They would refinance it at 100% of their purchase price. They 100% of its worth, take all the cash out, put it in their pocket, and then rent it out and make those payments. Well, this was really, really great in the short term because they got a lot of cash up front. It really, really sucked in the medium to long term because what would happen is you'd have a market crash and all of a sudden they weren't worth what they thought their mortgage payment would be higher than the rents that they were getting. And all of a sudden they were broke. I know lots of people who launch Internet marketing products marketing poop. As I've said previously on the podcast, they put poop in a box with a nice bow and they market poop and they make a whole bunch of money. They spend it all on fancy cars and a year later they're broke and unhappy because they don't think more than three months in advance of what they want their business to look like, of what they want their life to look like.
Really successful people plan their lives years in advance. Not in the sense that they're not open to change.
Not in the sense that they don't have fun, and not in the sense that they know exactly where they're going to be in three, six, 12 months. Because that is equally as dangerous as getting married to the idea of where you're going to be. But they plan their steps out strategically with a vision in mind so they know what action steps to take to get them to that 12, 24 month goal, to get them to where they want to be in 10 years. Most people arrive in 10 years taking whatever life gives them. Really successful people set the direction and they make decisions along the way that will lead them closer to the vision that they had in the first place. Success is not something that finds you. Success is not something that you acquire. Success is something that you attract by the person that you become. These are some of the habits that you can practice to attract success. Write down your goals, be very clear of the one thing you can do every day to make those goals more of a reality. Eat whole foods, exercise every day. Analyze who you hang out with. Read and feed your brain. Challenge yourself to come up with your own solutions and think long term and invest in the future. If you do those things, I promise you, you'll be successful.
