If a goal is not improbable, I'm not interested. I'd rather be on the beach. Damon John said. Getting beyond $10 million is about who.
You are partnered with and who are you surrounded by, Roland said earlier today. It's the entrepreneur's job to be freed.
Up to seek the next breakthrough. That's your job. Brian said. It takes just as much work to do something small than to do something great. So you might as well just do something great. Big entrepreneurs focus on the big things. Small entrepreneurs focus on the little things.
You're listening to Freedom Fast lane presented by capitalism.com this is the show about building businesses and investing the profits so that you can live life on your terms. And now, your host, the future owner of the Cleveland Indians, Ryan Daniel Moran.
How many of you are feeling pretty excited right now by something that you learned today?
How many of you feel like you're drinking from a fire hose?
I mean, we've covered a lot of ground today.
We've covered building $100 million companies this morning.
We've talked about building eight figure funnels. We've talked about maybe paying legally paying no tax ever again.
We've talked about investing for cash flow. We have covered quite the gamut today. And I also know that you've got.
A bunch of things that you want to do, a bunch of things that if you applied it to your business, would add six, seven figures to your business over the next few years. So what I'm going to attempt to do is button some of this up.
For you so we can apply it and so.
We can actually implement it into our business and you can come up with a plan of how it might look inside of your plan for the next few months. So what I'm going to cover is how to create $100 million empire with 90% less work without giving up your lifestyle.
The first thing that I want you to get is and understand is you are closer to whatever that number is. You remember on day one when I said let's just play with this idea for a second of whatever your goal is, let's times it by 10? Do you remember that? And probably when you did that it.
Felt a little bit heavy or it felt a little bit scary. Would anyone say that it feels a little bit more feasible now after talking about hundreds of millions of dollars or tens of millions of dollars, whatever that goal was that you set, you're probably closer than you think.
In fact, I might even argue that the reason why it felt difficult at first is because you are working too hard because you are already working on the things that keep you where you are. Small entrepreneurs focus on the small things. Big entrepreneurs focus on the big things. The things that it requires as an entrepreneur, and this has been a recurring.
Theme, is that it requires the right network and it requires the right strategy.
So if we look at $100 million plan and we look at the steps to get there, getting to a million dollars is about your vision and your product.
Are you thinking big enough to get to seven figures and are you releasing products into the marketplace? Russell Brunson would say, if you want to get to a million, all it takes is define what you're selling and how you're selling it. Once you figure that out, you get to a million dollars. Perry Belcher, famous for saying, it takes one good offer, one offer to get.
To a million dollars getting your product into the marketplace. I'm famous for saying release three products on one channel until you reach 1 million in sales. A recurring theme to get to seven figures.
Getting to eight figures is about dialing in your marketing and sales. Ezra likes to tell the story of going from 4 million to 21 million.
In a 12 month period once they mastered direct response advertising, which he teaches very publicly.
My mentor, Travis Sago will say that all of the easy money is made in the back end, not by acquiring.
New customers, but by monetizing the customers that you have and using that as your leverage point. Grant Cardone seller be sold, baby. I just sell more. Gotta keep selling, baby.
What does that mean? Brian Lee.
Brian Lee, today, double down.
On your E Commerce and then pivot into other channels.
Getting to eight figures.
Going to nine figures is about what you're investing in. I should have bought Bitcoin.
Now, full disclosure.
One of the things that has become clear to me, Mike Dillard has helped.
Me realize this is.
And again, this has been a theme that has come up. Doubling down on what you are really good at doing is the best investment that you can make. And then when you go to deploy that capital, invest into other places, invest it into the people who are masters at that. So I'll talk a little bit about. I have made some connections in the ICO and the crypto world who are masters at that.
And if I were to invest in that, I would go trust the people who spend their lives studying that rather than trying to figure it out myself. But you make your big exponential gains, you reach that, the top end of that pyramid with what you invest in.
Gary Vaynerchuk said on this stage two years ago. If you want to go from a million to 100 million, it's about the people that you invest in. Cameron Herald said last year on this stage, the more successful that I become, the more I realize that my network is my net worth.
Jesse Itzler, who has been on this stage, has made his money by investing and working with the businesses that he was invested in, like Marquis, Jet Zico.
Coconut Water, no foods.
This is what again, small entrepreneurs focus.
On the small things.
Big entrepreneurs focus on the big things. Jeff Hoffman said, to kick things off, go out and build your New England Patriots. It's about what you are investing in. A problem that I see is that most entrepreneurs see their success as a long staircase.
There's this step, then this step, then this step. And so what we often interpret is to get to the next level, we've got to climb the next set of stairs.
And if we're going to go from.
1 to 10, it's about 9 million stairs. Or to go from 10 to 100, it's about 90 million stairs. And that's how we tend to think about it. Can anyone relate to that?
But what you might have noticed today is that those who have built something extraordinary, they might be taking the stairs, but they're taking the stairs just long enough to get into a different vehicle.
Now there's a lot of ways to get to the top of a mountain and you can climb the stairs or you can take a few stairs and then get a better strategy that will take you there and take you there faster.
Does it take more or less work to take the stairs or to take a private jet takes you to the same location. One might be perceived as harder because it's more expensive, but it's also faster, more luxurious, probably more enjoyable, several different ways to get there.
But what you might have seen is that a lot of the individuals who.
Have built eight nine figure empires are.
Working less than the individuals who are.
Running 7 mil or 7 figure businesses.
Million dollar businesses.
What I learned earlier this year when.
I sold one of my companies is that there are people who just skip right to the top. There are people who just focus on the things that build big visions rather.
Than focusing on the little things that tend to stress us out. And when you're freed up to focus on those things, building the vision that you have for your life and for your empire becomes much faster and easier.
So there's this belief that I think.
We buy into that it takes more work to tackle a $10 million or.
To tackle a big vision, a $10 million business or $100 million vision than just focusing on the small thing. What I found is that it might be the opposite. How many have ever heard the phrase that it's easier to raise $100 million than a million dollars?
I've met individuals who will say publicly, I'm raising $100 million for such and such.
And I've noticed that my own reaction to this, and you might be able to relate to this, is as soon as they say that and there's.
That number, you realize that they're going someplace and people want to get behind and people want to partner with individuals who are going somewhere.
So if someone says, and I've had this happen to me twice in the last year, someone saying, I'm raising $100 million for this venture, you naturally tune in. And I am more drawn to that person than the person who just says that they're doing something small because they're headed in a very clear direction. This is also reflected. Kimball said yesterday, if a goal is.
Not improbable, I'm not interested. I'd rather be on the beach. Damon John said, getting beyond $10 million is about who you are partnered with.
And who are you surrounded by. Roland said earlier today, it's the entrepreneur's.
Job to be freed up to seek the next breakthrough. That's your job.
Brian said, it takes just as much work to do something small than to do something great. So you might as well just do something great. Big entrepreneurs focus on the big things. Small entrepreneurs focus on the little things.
Hey guys, this is Ryan. We're gonna take a quick break and.
We'Ll return to the show in a second.
Hey, fastlaners. Ryan here and I wanted to take a second and brag on one of our backroom members. Our backroom is our mastermind, really. We're focused on getting to $10 million in top line revenue. And I wanted to brag on athletic greens. They're in the back room and they have just absolutely killed it, not only with expanding their sales, but really by making incredible fricking products. So the products were made out of need by the founders and as a result, they've been featured on Tim Ferriss. They were featured in the four Hour Body and you've probably seen them all over the web. The reason why I'm telling you about them today is because I want to support them by encouraging you to go over to athleticgreens.com Amazon obviously you know that I am really big on maximizing your Amazon presence and I also just really Believe in the product. So for example, I like to wake up in the morning, put my greens in a water bottle, add in some creatine, some. Sometimes I add in a fat burner. If I'm on a cut, shake it up. And that's sometimes my morning. Pick me up if you've ever heard me talk about my tribe. 5. I have five habits that I practice on a daily basis. My B point every day is getting to the gym and having my greens. And when I don't have time for a big salad or making a smoothie, I supplement with athletic greens. So I'd highly encourage you to support them. Head over to athleticgreens.com Amazon and give their 30 day packs a try. All right, let's head into the episode.
Now.
I want to show you some of.
The numbers here that might help you realize. And when I realized this, I realized how close I was and how close you are to the vision that you might have. If you have a business that is under a million dollars in earnings, your potential sale price is two to three times the yearly profits.
When you cross that million dollar mark from between 1 and 9 million, your multiple jumps up to 4 to 6 times the yearly profits. Now if you get over that $10 million in earnings, it jumps again to 8 to 12 times the yearly profits. Now why does this matter? It matters because if you apply anything.
That you've learned over the last day and a half and you start looking at your competitors as potential allies that you can partner with, it doesn't even require you to take your own business from under a million dollars to over.
A million dollars or from $1 million to, to $10 million. It requires you to have the network and create the opportunities to partner with those individuals that then could be your greatest allies. Because if you merge or if you.
Create co create something together, all of a sudden you can add an extra zero to your business very quickly and sell for a much higher multiple. Does that help you see how you might be able to sell the same company you have now for twice as much money just by making a relationship? Can you see that?
So when you're freed up to just seek opportunities and you're not focusing on the weeds, you might be closer than you think. How would your life change if you were just seeking those opportunities, connections in your network rather than focusing on all the weeds and tactics that stress you out and keep you from where you could be?
The truth is that you're probably already working too much and you need to your job is to be freed up to pursue those opportunities that create those exponential impacts. Number two, that you have to wait until you're ready or have enough capital.
To hit it big. I want to introduce you to one.
Of my favorite people in the room.
This is Randy. Hey, Randy. What's up, dude?
Randy and I had a really fun conversation about a month or so ago where he was telling me about the stairs he was climbing. And I'm gonna summarize our conversation.
But I love Randy. Cause he does goofy things like this and is just an overall amazing human being. And we're on the phone and he's telling me.
I have this market, I have this business that I want to pursue that I know is an eight figure business. And he's telling me about it and that he wants to pursue this. And I just want to get my business over a certain hump.
And I don't remember the number that.
He said was the business was doing well, but he said, I want to.
Get to this level so that I've.
Got the capital to fund the thing that is really going to create my big exit.
So I said, all right, let's analyze this for a second. Randy, I know you've been really successful.
In this one business.
And what you're saying is you want to grow it a little bit so that you can take that capital and then go build the thing that is really going to give you that exit that you want, right?
Yes.
Okay, so we're taking the stairs in this conversation.
What would it look like if we took the stairs? Just enough to get into the private jet to take us to the top of a mountain. So I said.
What'S holding you back.
From building this thing out?
Well, I don't want to starve this.
Business of capital while I'm building that. Okay, so if we raised money, how much money would it take to be able to fund that business that you.
Know by looking at the numbers based.
On your skill set is a million.
Dollar a month business.
And the number was something like $100,000 or $250,000.
And I said, okay, so if it was $500,000.
Could we just blow this out of the water? Yeah, probably.
I never thought to raise half a million dollars. I'm not saying we have to. But if we did and we gave up a percentage of a company, you mean to tell me that somebody that.
I know that is already successful in this business, who has a proven track record of building a mid seven figures company, wants to raise a few hundred thousand dollars to build something that the.
Numbers tell us is Is going to.
Be a million dollar a month company.
In about 12 months. Are there any investors in the room that would be like, yeah, I would take that bet.
So in about seven text messages, we could raise that money if we needed to.
So if we were focused on the eight figure exit, we're focused on the things that build that big empire, could we get there a lot faster?
It's a perfect reflection of what Brian talked about this morning.
He saw a window of opportunity.
He saw the fast lane to get there. So he went all in on that opportunity.
So your job as the entrepreneur is to cultivate the network and seek those opportunities that come together effortlessly. Because I know that if you give me an entrepreneur who has a track record of building seven figure companies that now sees the opportunity that could be.
An eight or a nine figure exit very quickly.
I have equity groups and individuals saying.
Who do you want to throw money at? We have all these successful students. Who do you want to fund next? What fun business do you want to build?
So by thinking about it just a little bit differently, we don't have to take the stairs, we can just skip the stairs.
Third myth is that eight and nine figure opportunities are rare. We so often get lost in this idea of being stuck in the details of our business and we think, are we ever going to be able to build what I'm focusing on to the.
Level that I want? Well, remember this story? Remember this story from yesterday. Damon John said, how many of you have bought a scrub daddy? You should all be ashamed of yourself. Right, because it's kind of a silly idea. But what happens?
Scrub daddy gets partnered with the right person, a little bit of capital, and as a result, this is the most successful deal ever released on shark tank. It wasn't so much about the idea. It was the right opportunity presented itself of this guy's a great salesman, is passionate about his product, had a little bit of uniqueness, had the right capital.
Partner, the right exposure, and as a result, this business exploded. We talked about click funnels today and we talked about some of the examples in click funnels that were weren't necessarily breakthrough ideas. They weren't necessarily new or rare opportunities. It was just the right strategy.
It was by building the right offer.
So Russell probably could have gone for six hours just talking about case studies of simple businesses that had quickly, as soon as the offer was dialed in or as soon as the strategy was dialed in, was an eight figure business.
We could have deconstructed that and it would have had nothing to do with the product. You're starting to realize it has very little to do with the product, has everything to do about the strategy behind selling that product.
We looked at this example of.
Brian.
Seeing an idea, seeing a window of opportunity, seeing the opportunity for priority and putting that opportunity together, not because it was that breakthrough of an idea, but because he knew he could access the right people, he knew he could access.
The right opportunities and get it in.
Front of the right customers and create.
A nine figure business. As a result.
Entrepreneurs who want to grow something big seek the opportunities and the connections to take them straight to the top. So I want to share with you what my strategy is of how I'm applying this. I have a two part strategy. I was up here a few years.
Ago with Gary Vaynerchuk and he talked about his how he was gonna buy the New York Jets. Estimated it would take him about $6 billion to do it. He said my job is to double down on my singular skill and make that the leverage point. That has been a theme that has come up over and over. Roland said earlier today, right as he.
Was ending that it's your job to get good at one or two things and build everything around that. For me, that has been acquiring, scaling and selling businesses.
That's my singular skill, is creating those opportunities, acquiring those businesses, scaling them and.
Being able to sell them. It's also within my skill set to build the network of advisors, equity groups, investors and influencers, because that's part of my singular skill. And so I'm deploying that by partnering with entrepreneurs who have a similar or complementary vision so that we can grow faster together.
That's my business strategy behind implementing all of this. The second part is investing the profits. So I'm actively cultivating a network where I can invest in businesses that have eight or nine figure potential, advise them to grow, I know how to get them ready for sale.
And as we package these together as part of a roll up, we all make a lot more money together. So since this is within my skill set, that's how I'm leveraging my skill set to be able to deploy that to get me closer to my goals.
The second is by networking and opening up early stage deals. I have a friend who is trying to rearrange his schedule to fly in tomorrow. I don't know if he's gonna make it, but he is the guy in Silicon Valley and in the crypto world.
That people go to when they want to raise their initial round. So he is part of Slack, part of Uber, part of zcash. Part of a lot of the companies that you would all recognize. And he's able to get into those deals that are not available to the public. So by networking with individuals like him.
There'S often opportunities to participate in those sweetheart deals that most people are not privy to.
So by building the network, I intend to deploy my capital in these masters in different areas that will make me wealthier.
And instead of taking the stairs, taking.
The private jet and I also participate in real estate syndications to do exactly what we've been talking about, what what Tom went through and what we'll be talking about tomorrow. On the real estate side of I don't try to be a real estate investor myself.
I give it to the masters, I.
Give it to those who are all in on that. And I get all the benefits of.
Just being an investor. So that's the second part of my strategy for passive cash flow for wealth generation and to get to my goals faster. So as there's a reason that I.
Lay out this vision so publicly because I'm looking to expand my network and continue to double down on my sweet sauce on my skill sets. So most of you know that I exited a business earlier this year and I've done a lot of looking into.
Where I want to be focusing my attention.
And over the next 12 months.
I continue to build this vision of building empires, investing the profits and advising other entrepreneurs who have similar visions. And so as I look at where I want to go next, I am.
Looking and considering advising some businesses who have eight and nine figure potential and moving my career into an advisor to some of these businesses. At this point in my life, I'm way more interested in just having fun and just playing full out with people that I like working with, of growing something great together. Because like Kimball said, I would way rather be at the beach than trying to earn the next dollar.
