This is Ryan Daniel Moran and you're listening to Freedom Fastlane. If you've been listening to the show regularly, then you know that we've been joined by best selling authors, speakers and multi millionaires. So today I wanted to be joined by one of our own Today. Our guest is Jeff Kappel and he's a coach@freedomfastlane.com and I asked Jeff to come on because he and I have been friends since he started his entrepreneurial journey a couple of years ago. And what we've discovered together is that there's a very common thread among those of us who see the world a bit differently. And you have to see the world differently in order to be an entrepreneur. But what we found is that as an entrepreneur, we tend to have the same insecurities, we tend to have the same fears, we tend to have the same hopes and things that drive us, but yet very few people talk about them together. We found that we tend to isolate ourselves. We tend to be very focused, too focused on certain things at a time. So we lose balance in our lives. And as a result, we end up going after things that don't ultimately make us happy, which is exactly the opposite of why we started doing the things that we did. So I asked Jeff to come on and help coach us coach the Freedom Fast Lane audience into solving this problem. So you'll get a lot out of this call with Jeff Kappell. Hey, gang. This is Ryan Daniel Moran and you're listening to Freedom Fastlane. Today we're joined by a personal friend of mine and somebody who has really mastered the idea of balance, I guess we'd say. And today we're going to be talking about what he calls the four P's. We're going to be talking about prosperity hunting and we're going to be talking about how to maximize your potential and live to the fullest. Jeff, thanks for hanging out with me at Freedom Fast Lane.
Ryan, what's up, man? Thanks for having me. Glad to be here.
All right, thanks for coming on. Jeff, why don't you kick things off by introing people to your story and why don't you just tell us why we should be listening to you today?
Sure. So basically I'm just a 31 year old adult right now. I grew up in a teeny tiny town in South Dakota. And from a young age I knew that my life wasn't going to be the ordinary cookie cutter life that a lot of people had chosen to live. So I went through life and I made it through a year of college. And my second year of college, I decided that it was time to fire it. It wasn't going to take me where I wanted, and my cousin and business partner and I packed our bags and we moved out to California to pursue an opportunity with a network marketing company. And that was kind of our introduction to entrepreneurship and owning a business and being independent minded as well. That opportunity didn't work out like we had wanted it to, but it was kind of the gateway into becoming better and really mastering your life.
In any area. So throughout the last 10 years, I've really seen the highest of the highs and the lowest of the lows in pretty much all areas of my life. So basically what I want to teach today and get across to people is that like where they are right now, if they're not in the best spot in a certain area of their life, I've been there too. So I just basically like to help them out through my own experience and some of the trials and tribulations that I've had.
Jeff, you just said something interesting and that was that you called it the cookie cutter life that people have in mind. What do you mean by the cookie cutter life?
Well, I think the cookie cutter life, and I'm not taking this away from it, from anybody who does this. I don't mean to offend anybody, but it's just not for me, and it's probably not for a lot of people.
Who are listening to a podcast about freedom. But this is typically like the go to school, get a job, find a secure job with benefits, retire when you're 65, build a house with a fence, have three kids and two dogs.
That's what I refer to as the cookie cutter lifestyle.
Got it. I call it kind of the old way. I really believe, and I know you agree with me, Jeff, that we're in a point in our existence as a society, as a species, where we're transitioning from this process of it was easier and safer to go to school, get a job and be in it forever. And now that's not what safest, that's not what is best. It's easier than ever to become an entrepreneur. I call it safer to become an entrepreneur and to call your own shots. And I think you would agree with me.
Yeah, because at the end of the day, you control it. And listen, what's really fueled this fire in for me over the last, the last couple of years is that like I said, I grew up in a small town and growing up in a small town in the Midwest, in South Dakota, you don't really. You're not really exposed to a lot of life events that people in other areas of the world. And that's why we kind of, you know, dipped out and went somewhere bigger when we lived in California and saw some different things. But in the last couple years in small town South Dakota, my parents, both of them, who had been very loyal to their employers, and my dad worked for a company for almost 35 years. My mom was there for 25 years. They both lost their jobs. So, you know, even though they want what's best for their, for their children and they still have the idea of going to school and getting a job and being loyal, they're very loyal people. But clearly that's not the best route right now because I just, I don't believe in that work environment, that loyalty, that loyalty pays off. I believe that you could be the world's greatest employee and you're still expendable.
So what do you think is the. What do you think is the solution to that? I mean, a lot of people are still stuck in that mindset because it's what their parents did and their grandparents did. And I'm sorry if I sound stereotypical, but I would say that that is more common in small rural towns.
Absolutely.
You're from South Dakota and you kind of broke that rule. What was different about you or what did you know that most people in small towns or people with that mentality don't know?
Well, let's see. I didn't have that. I knew when I was, I was growing up that things were going to be different because I acted different. I spoke mind. I wasn't afraid to be a little bit out there. But you're still like, when you're younger, you're still kind of like, you know, under control of the, of the people around you, and you're still like, silenced. You're still silenced a little bit. And I didn't really break out of that until.
My cousin and I moved to California because that was like. And we moved to the, to the Bay Area, like Silicon Valley. So that was like land of the sharks, you know. So we learned, we learned a lot about just life in general and people in general when it comes to that. But.
Referring back to what you talk about small towns is. It's almost like in that part of the country and in the smaller town area, people assume that there's more, excuse me, more at risk to do that. It's just people are basically trying to give you advice on, you know, what they're comfortable with and what they believe in. And, you know, I was always told by like relatives and family and teachers and stuff growing up, it's almost like, you know, marketing online and seeing trends. But they would give you advice based on trends, like, hey, the computer industry is going to be really hot and, you know, physical therapy is going to be really big. And it's, to me, it's not about following a trend to do something that you're not interested in. But I totally believe that the, the key to prospering in every area of your life is it's solely based on your passion and your interests.
Well, I think you bring up a really good point about the noise and the opinions that are constantly surrounding us. One of the main reasons I started this Freedom Fast Lane podcast is because I know that most people in their lives hear a constant barrage of opinions from people who are broke and unhappy. And I started Freedom Fast Lane because I wanted people to elevate that influence of what they were hearing on a regular basis. And I like what you said about most people kind of base their expectations and what they see as normal on what is fed to them growing up. And you experience that firsthand.
Yeah. And you know, I don't, I'm not, I'm not saying that that was bad in any way because it shapes how I think and what I do now. So it's something that needed to personally. Needed to personally happen for me. So kind of the way that I look at this, Ryan, is that, you know, like, I do believe that part of our lives is.
Dictated by genetics. There's certain things that are dictated by genetics. But I also believe that a major portion of our life is based off of perception. So I grew up in a middle class, hard working family. And when I was growing up, I followed down the same path. I did a lot of the, a lot of the same stuff that a lot of my family members were doing. But during that time, my mind was saying, there's got to be something better than this. So while I was still doing it at the time, my mind was thinking ahead to.
What is really out there. And I really attribute the change in mindset to escaping that environment. Because when you're younger like that, like I said, you're going to be more influenced by the people around you because you haven't had the life experience.
To really develop a strong mindset. So I can honestly tell you that moving out to California with a couple hundred bucks in my bank account when I was 20 years old was the best thing I ever did.
Now, a lot of people can't do that. Jeff, I agree with you that taking a risk when you're young and you have nothing to lose is not only beneficial, but it's kind of easy to do because you have nothing to lose. Sure, you talk a lot about breaking the rules. You talk a lot about being bold in your decision making and the actions that you take. But what would you say to somebody who's married? They're listening while they're driving. They've got two kids in the backseat right now. They're driving them to school and they're wanting to make some changes. But it's like, I've got responsibilities, I've got things I've got to do.
Yeah. So the first thing I would tell you is I wouldn't expect you to put everything on the line when you have a family, because.
That'S a major priority of yours. What I would suggest to you is that you start associating yourself with people who are doing things or have a lifestyle that you want, and you slowly warm yourself up to the possibilities of what that lifestyle has to offer. And over time, building your lifestyle up basically part time to where it can replace kind of how you live full time. Does that make sense?
Yeah, it makes sense. It reminds me a lot of some guests that we've had previously on the show. You know, my buddy Rob Scott talks about normalizing what you. What you see or perceive as impossible, bringing it down into what is possible. You know, thinking $20,000 a month, for example, is a. Is a lofty goal. Sure. Bringing that into being a normal thing actually trains the subconscious to go after that and to make it not such a big deal. It's the same thing if somebody's got two kids in the back, they're married, they work full time, and they're thinking about, you know, I want to live a very different lifestyle for my kids so my kids can go to college, the best college possible, and so that we can go on family vacations whenever we want, but I have no time. Well, that's a belief. We can kind of train the subconscious into. Into being more productive. And I really believe we can create time based on our perception and how productive we are. And I think that's the case with anybody. They can train their subconscious to give them. Now I'm sounding really out there. I'm not a law of attraction guy, which is interesting. But I really believe we can train our subconscious to go after things that we want, regardless of what our life situation is.
Exactly. One important thing to Keep in mind is that if you're trying to prosper in any area of your life, and I'll touch on what I call the four P's here in a second. But you're going to find out that when you start associating yourself with people who maybe play the game at a little bit bigger of a level, you're probably going to find out that they're very, very similar to you. And they're not, you know, they're not like a superhero. So a lot of people look at, look at high performing individuals who seem to have their lives, you know, figured out as like, you know, these superhero figures. And there's no way I could ever do it. But I think that people would be shocked to know that, you know, they run into a lot of the same problems. They have the same feelings, they have the same emotions. It's just that they manage those differently. Playing at, playing at a different level.
Jeff, I had an experience about this that I'm curious to know if you've had the same experience. When I started hanging out with people that were at a higher level, two things happened. The first thing that happened was I got really clear on what my insecurities, my negative talk was.
Sure.
Because when I started hanging out with people at a different level, my, my, you know, negative thoughts in my brain started kicking in, going, you're not good enough. You're not handsome enough. Which of course is a lie.
That is not true.
You're not this. You're not this. You'll never be xyz. Right? And they came out strong.
Oh, for sure.
And the second thing that I learned was that all of them had the same negative thoughts.
Everybody.
Everybody. Yeah. And they were really no different than me.
No, not, not at all. You know, I'll cite this as an example.
And one of my health mentors was telling me this, and he was the guy who kind of like introduced me to Internet marketing and online business. Anyways, but I was talking to him just a couple weeks ago and he was at this event.
A few months ago and he was kind of like lower on the totem pole, like in that 15 to $25,000 a month income range. And there was a guy there who had just made a quarter million dollars for an email promotion and he expressed his fears to everybody else. And that's when, you know, one of my mentors realized, holy crap. Like, you know, you can be at the 15 to $25,000 a month income mark or you can be at the 150 to $250,000 a month income, Mark. And they've got the same worries.
Yeah.
So why not play at the bigger level if everybody's worrying about the same things?
Right? Yeah. It reminds me of. I hate to keep bringing up friends of the show, but friend of the show Dane Maxwell tells a story about how he went to his first marketing event and he was making a few thousand dollars a month in his business. I think like $4,000 a month. And then he went to this Dan Kennedy seminar and realized, you know, I can't. I gotta make $40,000 a month to be happy. And then it. And then other people were talking about the level they were at, and he's like, I've got to be at $100,000 a month to be happy. And then he looks at the people who are saying it, and he's like, these people don't seem very happy.
Yeah, sure.
So it's true. We all kind of have the same insecurities. And when we realize that, like when we. When we realize we all want approval, we're all afraid of losing approval. We're all afraid of rejection. Since we're all afraid of it, we don't. We don't have to be afraid of it.
No. You know, there's a. There's an old saying that says, new level, new devil. So when you have the ability to play at a much higher level, the risks are magnified. So what I would tell people, when it comes down to.
These areas of your life that you're trying to improve, that you're trying to prosper in that it's very, very important that you learn to manage your emotions, understand where they're coming from, why you feel that way. Because when it comes time for you to hit that next level, it's going to be magnified tenfold.
You're going to be more freaked out, more insecure. So.
If you can learn how to manage your emotions when you're at a smaller level.
I think that would definitely add tremendous value to your life as you. As you play at a bigger game.
I found that to be the case in my own life. When I play at a different level, you know, I get the higher devil or the bigger devil. And I've also found that when I'm in control of my emotions at whatever level I'm at, it's only then that I can go to the next level. And at that point, it becomes effortless.
Yeah. And it's at that point, Ryan, I truly believe that there's. There's almost like I kind of Refer to this as like the higher hand, a higher power that it knows when you're ready and it kind of just gives you that little tap on the button, says, okay, you can go now, you've, you've passed. Yeah.
I described it as, I've actually said this, that I felt like somebody had me by the collar and was pulling me up. It was, yeah, you're ready, you're done. Time to time to go to the next level. You're ready for here. It's really interesting how when we get our stuff in order, how the next level just kind of shows up.
Yeah.
Jeff, what would you say, what would you say are the things that need to be in order in order for us to go to that level?
Okay, great. So these are what I refer to as the four life priorities. Okay. So basically what I stand for and what I want to help people with so they can prosper in these four life priorities. And, and they're in no particular order because they all need to work together. The first one is your physique, which would be your body. Okay. The second one are your profits. Whether you're an entrepreneur, a business owner or a business professional and you have a job and a career, it doesn't matter. The third one would be your partnerships and this would be with, you know, if you're married, with your spouse, with your children, with your friends, with your family, with your co workers, business associates and such. And the last one is our philosophies, which I pertain that to our spirituality, how we kind of connect with the non physical world and basically our belief system.
Got it. And why did you pick those and how do they all work together in order to get us to that next level?
Okay. So through my experience over the last 10 years, and it's been a wicked, wicked, crazy, fun roller coaster and I've learned a lot about myself and a lot about other people. And I learned that if I'm having these problems and there's probably a lot of other people are too. So there was a period of time in my life, for example, when I moved to California that I was really, really, really money hungry. And I moved out there because I had this goal to make X amount of dollars and it was going to be to like prove people wrong and shove it in their face. And I was pretty arrogant and cocky about it. So I let all the other areas of my life.
Take a back seat. So I stopped working out, I stopped eating healthy, my relationships with pretty much everybody else other than my cousin took a crap. I didn't talk to my sister very much. My parents and I didn't speak as often as we should. And when we did, it wasn't like a good parent child conversation. And my philosophies and my spiritual connectedness and my belief levels were really down because I was giving 100% of everything I had to my business. And there were times when it got really good, and then all of a sudden, it came crashing down. So then when the other areas of your life come crashing down, you compensate for those areas by not focusing as much on what you had been. So, yeah, if you're focusing on your business, and that's like, I'm gonna, you know, bite down on my mouthpiece and I'm gonna forge ahead and I'm gonna get to this, you know, X amount of dollars a month mark, and I'm gonna neglect everything else. And then all of a sudden, you know, your wife, your kids are going, where the heck is dad at? Where the heck's my husband at? We haven't been on a date. We haven't done any family events. And, you know, your wife is going or your husband's going, okay, well, I think I want to get divorced then. You know. Hello, pattern interrupt shocked. I guess I better focus on my relationships now. So, you know, now for the next month, I'm taking my family out every single night. I'm taking my kids to school. I'm picking them up. I'm taking my wife flowers for lunch. And we don't focus on our business. And at the end of that month, our relationships are awesome, but we've lost all our money.
Yeah. And that's kind of the cycle we get into is like, okay, this area of my life is okay now. Now I got to focus on this other one. And it's almost like. It's almost like water going into. Filling up one bucket, and then the scales get tipped, and it all flows out of that one and goes into a different one until life tips it another way. But you'd actually argue that there's a way to keep all four buckets full.
Yep, absolutely. And I think this is. This is critical, and this has been the biggest challenge that I've had to overcome in my life. We can use the term balance, but I don't think it's always going to be in balance, because I think that, let's say, example, we have 24 hours in a day. If everything's balanced, that means six hours a day on our body and six hours a day on our business, and six hours a day on our partnerships and six hours a day on our philosophy. What I'm going to tell you is just based off of my experience, it may not work for everybody. Maybe they have something of their own that's already working for them, but this is based off of what I've experienced. So in order to have all this stuff synergistically working together, I absolutely, 100%, without a shadow of a doubt, believe that in those areas, to get them to all work together, we need to do what I call breaking the rules. Okay? So in the areas of our physique, our profits, our partnerships, and our philosophies, I think that each one of us as individuals and has one or two of those areas a little bit more mastered than the other ones. So if we're really good in our business and we're really good in our bodies, then we can get a lot more done in a little bit of time. And it's going to allow us to focus on the other areas that we kind of need to give some more attention to. But what I mean by breaking the rules, and this is in any of those four life priorities that we talked about, is basically, if I consider a rule to be a current philosophy or belief that we may have. So, Ryan, with your experience, do you think that, like, a lot of people, like, who get into, like, let's just use the Internet marketing game as an example. Like, everybody kind of has this, like, would you agree with me? Like, $10,000 a month is their mark.
Yeah, that's definitely the level that people are at. Once I'm there, I've made it, then I'm happy.
Yeah. So, like, that $10,000 a month mark is what a lot of people seem to say would, like, give them. Give them what they wanted in their life. So if you make $2,000 a month and you're trying to get to $10,000 a month, you're gonna have to break a whole lot of rules. Your belief system is gonna have to change, and your philosophies are gonna change. So you'll hear a lot of people tell you that you need to raise the standards, which are true, but it's only part of the equation because, you know, I could tell Ryan right now, ryan, I want $100 million a month. That just raised the bar and raised the standard of what I want my life to be. But if my belief is not there that I can actually do that, I'm not willing to work on that and believe that it can happen. There's no way I'm ever going to reach that. So if you're trying to go from $2,000 a month to $10,000 a month, you're going to have to radically adapt an entire new way of thinking and being. The same is said if you need to lose 100 pounds. The same is to be said if you're single and you want to find your significant other. And the same is to be said if you're spiritually disconnected and you're trying to connect yourself to the non physical world.
Yeah, you know, I was sitting in a room with is my first Mastermind. I was sitting in a room with people who are. I was 21 or 22 years old and I was with 50 year olds who were earning millions and millions of dollars. I also met my best friend in that room and it came time for my question in the mastermind and they asked me, okay, what are you doing right now? And I told them and I was playing at a decent level for my age anyway and, and then they asked me, okay, well what's your dream? And I said without even batting, I said, to own the Cleveland Indians.
Nice.
And they said, is that really your dream or are you pulling your leg? I'm like, no, my dream is to own the Cleveland Indians. And they said in not so many words, okay, we got to break some rules because where you're at right now is great if you want to live the coolest lifestyle that any 22 year old has ever lived. Yeah, but. But you're not going to own the Cleveland Indians. And I went to bed that night feeling really kind of nasty. Not in an angry, but in like I felt kind of beat up because I had to break. If I wanted to get to that level, I had to break the rules about what I thought would get me there, about what I thought success was. And I had to kind of change my definitions around certain things. If of course, I wanted to get to that level.
Sure. Because the reason why stuff like that, that hurts people when they hear that stuff is because it's the truth. And you know when I'll say this, that, and I know you've experienced the same thing because you kind of alluded to it a little bit earlier as well. But when you're surrounding yourself with people who are where you want to be.
They aren't going to B.S.
You.
They're going to be the people that are going to tell you what you need to hear versus the people that are holding you back are going to sugarcoat the crap you need to hear. So this is another reason why I believe.
It'S important to be around the right people. And let's be honest. I truly believe that as humans, instinctually, we want to break the rules. Kids want to break the rules. When we get into our teenage years, we want to break the rules. We want to sneak out of the house and meet the girl. We want to sneak out of the house with our buddies and go drink a beer. We want to break the rules. So it's not something that's foreign to people. It's just that the older we get, the less likely it seems that we should break the rules because we're supposed to grow up.
Yeah. I actually. In that same mastermind, same group, different meeting, I had a. Somebody who's become a good friend of mine come up to me once, and he was like. He was a country boy, was like, hey, man, I want to tell you something. I said, okay. He's like, I'm hearing what you're saying, and I feel like I need to tell you that there are no rules.
There aren't.
And I was like, what do you mean? He's like, man, I just. I'm hearing what you're saying, and it's sounding like you're kind of defining yourself in a certain way. And I just want to tell you, look, there are no rules. There's only rules that exist are the ones that we decide for ourselves.
Yeah.
And I would. I would add to that the things that we've decided based on what other people have decided for us.
Sure.
So I would. I'd add to your point about we want to break the rules. I'd also add to that that, you know, when we look at it, there really are no rules. The only things that we're breaking are what we've previously believed and has gotten us to a certain point.
Absolutely.
And we can change that at any time.
Yeah, It's. It's. I always tell people it's like a radio station. If you don't like what's on the radio station, you can turn the radio station. And it doesn't seem like it's a problem for you. Right. But when it comes to, like, improving in some area of our life, like, the metaphor of changing the radio station seems. Seems much more. Much more difficult, but, like, it is really, truly that easy.
Yeah. So, Jeff, how would you say that people can go about starting to do that? How do we go about breaking the rules? Or I'll even. I might change it and say, redefining our rules in order to produce a certain result.
Sure. So I believe what this really boils down to is that.
It'S just gonna start.
So that you can. You can turn this into a habit. So what I would recommend is starting off on a small daily basis of doing this. And this is what I did. But in order to redefine the rules or break the rules, however you want to refer to it as, it starts with doing something outside of your comfort zone every day. And I'm not talking about just like, waking up and going and running outside when it's like five degrees below zero. I'm talking about when, like, your mind is playing tricks with you and saying, no, don't do this. I don't want to do that. I can't do that. I'm talking about when those thoughts start coming into your head, that you actually go do the absolute opposite of what it's telling you to do. Because the first time that you do that, you're going to realize that your expectations of how challenging it was going to be and how brutal and how nasty it was, how nasty your mind made it up to be, you're going to realize that, heck, that wasn't so bad.
Yeah. There's a great book. It's either free on Kindle or like 99 cents on Kindle. It's called the Flinch. It's like 30 to 40 pages. It's a quick read. You can read it on the toilet. And I only know that because I did it. But you don't know that I didn't say that out loud on a podcast. Anyway, there's a great book called the Flinch that is about that feeling we get right before we're about to do something uncomfortable. And it's that feeling that's like, no, don't do this. This is unsafe. And he talks throughout the book about using that moment as fuel to go do it. And usually when we feel that, it means we're about to grow. And if we can blast through that flinch, that's when we're really growing. So I like to practice this with things like cold showers.
Yeah.
Right before I'm about to step into cold water, I get that flinch where it's like, no, not safe. And then you. You do it. And first of all, it's not that bad. And second of all, it's just training your brain to do things that seem unreasonable according to our. The rules that we have.
Absolutely.
And if we can harness that, you're unstoppable.
Yeah. You know, I'll use a real life example of something today that I'm going to have to do that. I woke up feeling that exact same same way about. So a few years back, my business partner and I and my cousin Sam, we did some real estate stuff with, like, flipping homes and bird dogging out houses and all this stuff. And we worked for an investor and did some stuff on our own. But, you know, I kind of developed this skill set in that area where I was able to identify different opportunities. And I've been going for these walks, sometimes in the morning, sometimes in the afternoon, sometimes at night. And for the last few months, I've been led past the same area.
Nonstop. And I remember texting my cousin, like, man, I'm almost certain that this home is vacant over here. I'm almost positive that this thing is vacant because I go by during the day, there's nobody there. I go by at night, there's nobody there. There's no lights on, there's nothing. So Friday night, I did a little bit of research on the property. The person that owns it is trying to cover their tracks and hide it. It's vacant, it's in foreclosure. But I scoured up all of this, this information to. To contact the. The individual that owns it. And when I woke up this morning, I'm like, I know there's money sitting on the table. And I sit there and I'm telling myself, because I haven't done this in so long, that, like, oh, man, I don't know if I want to do this. And that's when I snapped out of it was like, the second this podcast is over with with Ryan, I'm home.
Yeah, we still feel the flinch no matter what level we're at. Right? It's just like you said earlier, it's just the level that you're at, that flinch becomes. It becomes about something much bigger, you know, and it might even become louder because you're playing at a different level. But if you practice harnessing that and using it for fuel, then no matter what level you're at, you'll be trained to go through that hesitation.
Exactly. And it truly is about mastering your mindset in that exact moment. Because I'll tell you this, you know, like, we kind of live in this society where people will tell you that, like, you know, you need to just buckle down and get things done and push through and to do this and do that. I don't necessarily always believe that to be true. So what I would tell you is that if you have those feelings of fear and insecurities and doubts and like, really wondering if you should do it, Like, I just would recommend that you acknowledge that you have those, understand where they're coming from, but before you do them, put yourself in a really, really good place. Because if you put yourself in an immensely good place when it comes time to taking that action, you're going to start to get in the repetition of doing that versus somebody who, like, you know, if you've got to be, if you've got to be completely flat broke in order to go do something, you're going to be completely flat broke numerous times to do stuff.
Alright, well, Jeff, I actually know people like that. A lot of them are Internet entrepreneurs who think thrive on that insecurity of I've got to make something happen. So they consciously blow all their money. They consciously spend all of their money so that they get that pressure. I'd say that's not healthy. You would say that that's not healthy?
I wouldn't want to do that.
Yeah, I don't, I don't either.
I've actually done it and I don't want to do it anymore.
Well, what's, what's the next level for somebody like that who, who consciously sabotages in order to keep their fire? What's the next level for them?
I think they need to break the rule or redefine the rule on what inspires them to get them done. They need to find a different way to fuel that fire. If it has to be with blowing all your money so that you can go make some. I mean, you're going to be 60 years old at some time. You're going to want to not have to do this. So I think that in that situation people need to redefine.
What motivates them. And I'll ask you this question. Do the people that you know that do that, are they typically single?
Yes.
Yeah, because I'm still single, but I caught myself in my mid-20s doing that because there's less to risk. But I can guarantee you that we use the example of taking your kids to school and you've got a wife and you got a couple kids in the back. You're not going to be acting like that. So I think until they start prospering and the third p they're partnerships, then they'll be able to start meshing those two together and they won't need to use the, use the broke metaphor to move them forward.
Yeah, well, I know a lot of people like that and they say that once they get to a certain age or once they meet the significant other or whatever, then they'll change And I tell them, no, you're training your brain now to sabotage good things. Like, we need to change this rule now because it's going to manifest in a certain way later if you don't get this under control.
Yeah. It's just like people who think that, like if you make two grand a month, that 10 grand a month is going to change you. It's not going to. You have to change before, before you get it, otherwise you'll sabotage that. And I'm speaking from experience, so I've done that and I've leveled up in all those areas of my life and sabotaged it numerous times. So I completely and full well understand the benefit of you've got to make the change. Listen, I think that when the world knows that you're ready to make that change is when, like you said, it lifts you up by the collar and says, okay, you get to go here now, because it knows that you're ready for it. I believe that we need to have faith in ourselves to get to that level. But I believe that more importantly, we need to have faith that something's going to lift us up that level because that's just. It's much more powerful.
Yeah. I love the story that Jim Rohn tells about how I think he was meeting with congressional leaders or some sort of political leaders and. Or maybe it was high level business people, I don't remember, but people at a really high level. And they asked him, jim, what do you think the next year is going to look like? And they meant like economically and socially, what's next year going to look like? And Jim said, I'll tell you what it's gonna look like. I'm pretty sure I know what it's gonna look like. And everybody leans in. He says, it's gonna look about the same.
Yeah.
The laws in the economy, probably gonna be about the same. The people that you meet, probably gonna be about the same. Unless you change.
Absolutely.
If you want things to change, don't wait for them to change. You change and everything will change around you. I think, I think that is one lesson that everyone in this world needs to hear.
Absolutely. Here's a great way to finish that off. Because mainstream media and most of the people that you would talk to, they'll freak you out. In the four life priorities. They'll tell you that all the food you eat makes you fat, crazy, sick, nasty, and genetics are more crazy now than they've ever been. And the whole world's going to be fat. And they'll tell you that now is a terrible time for college graduates. They'll never get jobs. They'll never be able to do anything. They just wasted their money. They'll tell you that the divorce rate is 70%, so you shouldn't want to get married. They'll tell you that there's all these spiritual and religious confrontations, so that you should just not do anything, because then you're not in the mix. I'll tell you this, the best way to improve that in the world's eyes, not just where you live. In the United States, Canada, Australia, uk, Wherever you live, the absolute best way to contribute to a more positive world is to a be the change and to show other people that they can do the same thing. Because if we've got more people out there who are prospering in their lives, they're not living in a constant state of fear and worry where they're freaked out to do anything, the world in general is going to be a much better place.
I agree. I mean, that is how you change the world. You represent what you want the world to look like, and those ripple effects are massive. And that, I believe, is how you change the world. And that's why I started Freedom Fastly is to get that message out there and to kind of elevate the vibration that people are thinking about for sure.
Because if. Listen, if Mark Cuban will tell you he has this great book out there called Winning at the Sport of Business. And in the very beginning of the book, Mark Cuban says, if I can do it, you can do it. And, like, how simple yet profound is it? Because we're all gifted with the same abilities, and we see people who seem to have less than us do greater things, and we just want to be like, oh, so good for them. Their odds. They have their back against the wall. I could never do that. But the bottom line is, whatever it is that you want, I can tell you this. Everything Ryan, that I want in my life, somebody else already has. So I know it's completely possible.
Yeah.
Somebody else already owns the clean Cleveland Indians, right?
Larry Dolan. Sure does. Yeah.
Yeah. So why couldn't you?
Yeah. Amen, brother. Amen. And I think we're all born with. With unique abilities and. And we're all born with. With different experiences, and we're all born with different opportunities. I think the difference between people who are successful and people who are still beating their head against the wall is that they channel everything that they have, their abilities and what they've been given towards something where others wait for life to come to Them.
Yeah. And what this really boils down to, here's another challenge that I've had to overcome in my life when it comes to, you know, other people comparing you to other people and what goes on in life and you know, the rules that people have identified in life is if you're looking to level up on any of those areas of life and really prosper in what we discussed today.
Completely avoid the competitive nature of people trying to.
I don't want to use the word compete. Compare. Hello? Compare you to other people because it doesn't frickin matter. We're all our own person. We all see our own things at different times, we all hit our struggles at different times, we all hit them, but we all have the good times as well. So don't let the fact that somebody's saying that you're a certain age, you're a certain type of person, that you can't do it, or compare you to a sibling or a relative or a friend who's done it. And you don't exhibit that quality because, listen, you never know when your seed is actually going to sprout. So basically, in short, don't quit.
I like to say that the best advice I ever received was from the grandparents of, of a girl I almost married. I asked, I asked each of her grandparents, independently of each other, what the secret to life was.
Love it.
They were, they were elderly, but healthy, happy, wealthy. I mean, just the type of person that you, that everybody wants to be in their 70s. And I said, I said, pop, what's the secret to life? And he looked, actually, no, he didn't look at me. He looked up and off into the distance and he said, work hard and don't worry about the other guy. He's having his own experience. Just worry about your own.
Yeah, that's great.
And they both said the same thing independently of one another, that that was the secret to life, to work hard and not worry about other people because they're having their own experience, you're having yours.
Yeah, so that's exactly true. So remember that the experience is yours and the more experience you get when it comes to prospering in those areas of your life that we talked about today, the more confident you're going to be in your abilities to get things done. So don't underestimate the power of experience.
Jeff, this time absolutely flew by because this was so much fun. So I want to take the last couple minutes and let you say where people can get ahold of you and where they can go deeper in the world of Jeff Kappell.
Sure. So I've got a couple places that you can check me out at and I'll just let everybody know that I'm really the type of guy who likes to interact with people. So if you actually gain some value out of what I heard today, don't be afraid to reach out to me because I always like meeting new people and just chatting it up with whoever. But the two best places that you could reach me at would be my Facebook page. And it's just facebook.com the ProsperityHunter. And what I do on there is I usually post daily inspirational messages related to what I'm experiencing in my life and what's going on. So that's a great way to reach out. You can send me a private message. I've also got an application on there if you want to do like a one on one strategy session where we can talk about, you know, kind of where you are, where you want to go and what it's going to take to get there. And the second place is just the ProsperityHunter.com and I don't have any intentions on building this into a mega website. Information based website. It's a simple squeeze page. You'll see some information on the page, you'll have the opportunity to enter your name and email to get some more help and find out more what I'm about and that's it.
Cool. Jeff, thanks so much for hanging out with us today at Freedom Fast Lane.
Ryan, it was a pleasure. Thanks for having me.
As I was preparing this podcast with Jeff, an interesting thought came to mind, and that was that I found that the greatest periods of success in my life and the periods of greatest happiness when I've really mastered the four P's that Jeff is talking about have come right after a massive failure. We resist failure so much as entrepreneurs. And yet in my experience, I have found that I've had the most happiness and the most success right on the heels of a big failure. And one common thread among us as entrepreneurs is that we're afraid of that failure. But sometimes that failure is the exact thing we need in order to get to that next level because it frees us up to break the rules. If you want to get more from Jeff, he's one of the coaches at Freedom Fast Lane. So if you go over and you become a platinum member of Freedom Fast Lane, you'll have direct access to Jeff and myself. So I hope to see you over there@freedomfastlane.com as always, we so appreciate your feedback and your reviews on itunes. It's the reason we do what we do. Thanks for listening, and we'll see you next time.
