And if I was a betting man, that's where I would put my money. I really do believe that is likely to be president come 2024, if he wants to. And if he wants to, he'll be the front runner or it's going to go to one of the super niche extremes. We shall see. Those are. That's probably the most controversial thing that I believe as of right now, what I think is going to happen in 2020 and 2024.
Hey, capitalists, it's time to crack open your favorite beverage. I like Zevia. This is Wednesday with Wyan on capitalism dot com.
What's up, podcast? Good to see you. You look good. Have you been working out? You look good. Hey, welcome to the show. Today we're going to talk about predictions for 2020 and 2024. I said that I would talk about my predictions for the election and last Wednesday with Wyan, and we didn't get to it. And we're going to talk about the difference between money and freedom, because there is a difference. All right, but first, let's jump into predictions for 2020 and 2024. Listen, this election is gonna be so much fun, and I also think very, very predictable. So I want to go on record in what I think is going to happen. About a year ago, well, I guess it was maybe eight months ago that I put money on it just so that I could say it was official, because I was pretty confident I was.
Going to be right.
I put money, like 100 bucks on Kamala Harris winning the Democratic nomination. I.
Thought last year.
It couldn't be a white male. I was pretty sure that was off the table. And I'm going to stand by that. Biden is going to be out. Bernie is toast. It's going to be either Kamala Harris or, at this point, Kamala Harris or Elizabeth Warren. And we'll talk about that in a second. About a year ago, though, out of the people who had declared, I thought it was going to be Cory Booker, who I think is going to be in it till the end, but doesn't look like he's running a very effective campaign. So it can't be a white man. Can't even be Buddha Judge.
It can't be Yang. It has to be a woman. It's going to be a woman. And. And it's either going to be Elizabeth Warren or Kamala Harris. Now, it was Kamala Harris's for the taking. Like she. She could have walked in and just not been terrible and won the nomination, but she's running an Absurdly awful campaign. If she was a man, she'd be Beto o'. Rourke. It's that bad of a campaign. Beto o' Rourke is running an embarrassing, laughable campaign. If he had stayed out of the process, he would have been the shoo in vp. He would have been an obvious choice for someone to choose him as the vice presidential nomination. But he got greedy and he went for the whole thing. And he's getting just spanked out of town for running just a horrible, horrible campaign.
And Elizabeth Warren, on the other hand, who I wrote off a year ago because I just didn't think she was ever going to recover from the whole Pocahontas thing, has been great now. I mean, great from a marketing and presentation standpoint. I'm not a fan of Elizabeth Warren's policies, but she's running a phenomenal campaign. I mean, she has, she has done this very remarkable job of looking like the modest, moderate, centrist voice in an extreme party. She hasn't embraced the, the crazy core four, or whatever they're called, the AOC and those people. She is not associated with them. She has cozied up to the Bernie side of things without looking as crazy as Bernie. And so she has positioned herself as the modest centrist in the Democratic Party. She seems sane and calm. She has really done a great job of positioning herself as that within the Democratic Party. Now, anybody on the right or any Republican is going to disagree with that. I, and again, I don't like her policies, but she has done a good job of marketing and presenting herself perfectly within the Democratic Party. I thought she was a. Has been in the party, but she has recovered. She's done just a tremendous job of looking like the obvious nominee at this point. Again, eight months ago, I put money on Kamala Harris. All the news is giving attention to Kamala Harris. It was hers for the taking. She's a non white, non male. I mean, how, how much more obvious can you get? But she just didn't. She has just not played her hand well. If she were to change, if she were to come out with a strong platform and make declarative statements about what she stands for rather than just being in there as part of the conversation, she could still get the nomination. But right now she is looking like the, the beta on stage, especially next to Elizabeth Warren. So if that continues, I think Elizabeth Warren is going to just cruise to victory. Now, the marketing lesson in this, the business lesson, the personal lesson in all of this is very simply, when, first of all, never judge yourself of where you are in the second inning. Elizabeth Warren should have been out six months ago, but she's just been fantastic. She's won every debate that she's been a part of. She hasn't said anything that has seemed crazy to her base. She hasn't gotten into any controversy. She's positioned herself well. She's done a great job. And she just needs to hold that positioning long enough for Biden and Bernie to burn themselves out, which is what is going to happen. They can't win. Bernie's base is limited. Biden is just shooting himself in every body part, and Elizabeth Warren looks next in line and it looks like she's going to win. So never count yourself out in the second inning. If you can adjust and adapt, you can always recover. The other thing, though, is the reason why Elizabeth Warren is winning over Kamala Harris is Elizabeth Warren is letting the world come to her. She is making declarative policy statements. She is. She's saying who she is and what she wants.
And Kamala Harris is not. Kamala Harris is just looking wishy washy. She seems to be kind of blowing in the wind to what the party is talking about, to what she thinks the base wants rather than saying who she is and what she stands for. Elizabeth Warren is, is at least to her credit, taking a stand for what she believes in. And she's being consistent in that and letting the world come to her. When you do that, you position yourself to get what you want. If you're consistent in your message, if you're consistent in your beliefs, if you're consistent in your conviction, you end up winning. You will. You eventually, the world, the audience, the community, your customers come to you. But what most people do is they try to speak to where their audience is and what are. They're blown in the wind to the messaging of what they perceive in the world rather than making the stand, making the statement of who they are, where they are, what they believe, what they stand for, of communicating their message because they want to appease rather than they want to serve. You serve by speaking to where you are and where you are going and inviting people to go with you, encouraging people on their path. Not by changing your approach, changing your message to what you think the marketplace wants. That's how you become wishy washy. That's how you become Beto o'. Rourke. That's how you become Kamala Harris. As of right now, that's how you lose. You win by being bold in your stance. And you do that long enough and you do that boldly and consistently. And that's how you build an audience. That's how you communicate to your customers. That's how you become a marketer. That's how you become a messenger. Most people, though, are trying to build an audience by reverse engineering algorithms. No, that's not how you do it. You do it by taking a stand and boldly professing what you believe and let the world come to you. So that's your lesson so far from what we've learned in this election. Now, that same lesson is also why Trump is going to easily win reelection in 2020. He is going to boldly state what he believes. And I'm, but, but I'm very curious to see what he will run on in 2020 because he has mostly fulfilled his campaign promises up to this point. So he's going to need to get a new platform. He can't just run anti Hillary Clinton. He can't just run anti the person who is opposing him. He is going to have to double down on an equally bold platform as what he ran on in 2016. Build a wall. Mexico is going to pay for it, cut taxes. The very clear, bold, declarative statements that he made in 2016 are what got him the attention to control the news cycle and ultimately get the base to rally around him. He's going to need to double down that in 2020, and I think he will because he knows this. He's the best marketer in the world. So I think Trump will easily cruise to victory. And regardless of if Kamala Harris or if Elizabeth Warren is the nominee, they're coming at it with kind of that attorney perspective with, here is my list of policies and let's analyze them together. And that's not where the world or the market is right now. It's more in the Trump communication style of simplicity of saying what you will do and doing it. And when the economy is really good, when we're not at war, when there's historically low unemployment.
It'S pretty hard to unseat an incumbent president.
I would like for someone to fact check me. Has there ever been a replacement of an incumbent during a boom economy? I don't know. So I think Trump will easily, easily cruise to reelection in 2020 if for no other reason. There's really, there's no reason for the Democrats to coalesce around a single candidate right now. Like, there's, there's no, there's no, like, singular issue for them to be rallying behind. They could rally behind global warming, but at this point Trump could just come out with a global warming policy and neutralize that. I think Trump is in a very, very secure spot. I think he has the highest chance of reelection of any president probably within the last 50 years. So I expect him to be easily reelected in 2020. Now, there's a wild card here, and the wild card is the vice presidential process. So Elizabeth Warren, assuming she's the nominee.
Will be in an interesting spot of choosing a vice presidential candidate. And I think the most formidable opponent.
For her to choose would be Andrew Yang. Andrew Yang is currently pulling six, which is only like 3 or 4%, and yet he is running just a fantastic campaign because he's speaking simple, like Trump, with new and what some would call innovative policies, and he's very persuasive. I have developed a very healthy respect for Andrew Yang, despite being absolutely disgusted by him upon first discovery, because I thought he was very dishonest in his approach. I thought he was making up problems that didn't exist. But I've developed a healthy respect for him based on the way that he is running his campaign. And because of that, if you put Andrew Yang in a vice presidential debate against Mike Pence, he would embarrass Mike Pence. I mean, he would just absolutely embarrass Vice President Pence. So from a debate perspective, if Elizabeth Warren brings in Andrew Yang as a vice presidential candidate, you've got a really strong ticket from a marketability and debate standpoint. You might see. You might see Pence and Yang not even debate because Yang is so good. So that would be interesting, I think. Anybody else, like, if Warren chooses who, Booker, Buddha, Judge, maybe. I mean, but forgive me for being politically incorrect. If you have a war and Buddha judge ticket, you have a very soft ticket. You don't have anybody being.
Dominating on the ticket, and you will need that. You will need a vice presidential candidate that can trounce Pence to have that domination on the ticket. So that would be really interesting. But there's a second wild card if Warren and Yang are the Democratic nomination, which I think would be the strongest combination. Not necessarily the most likely, but the strongest combination. I can't think of anybody else that would really be a formidable.
Compliment to Elizabeth Warren. But there's one other wild card, and it's. Does Trump pick Pence as his vp? It is not too late for Trump to pull a.
Flip on this and go with Nikki Haley, which is what he will do if he feels that he is under threat. Nikki Haley gives him instant, basically instant election. He takes all the wind out of the sails of the Democrats having a female nominee. He is another dominant debater to win a vice presidential debate contest.
I mean, I mean, the demo, he just takes all the wind out of the Democrat sails, all of it. So you have somebody that the base loves, because the base doesn't really care for Mike Pence. And everybody in the party knows that Mike Pence is not going to be the, the next president after Trump. So there's going to be a discussion over who's the successor, who's next in line, and Nikki Haley looks like she could position herself to be that person. So if Trump chooses Nikki Haley, he wins. He just. He. He just wins. No, I mean, no one can defeat that ticket. Nobody. That is Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant playing up against any other WWF wrestlers. It doesn't matter who they put up. If it's Trump and Nikki Haley, he wins. But I don't think Trump wants to put up Nikki Haley. Here's why, and here's where we're going to go into 2024. We're going to fast forward and go into the future. In 2024, assuming that Trump has been the president for eight years, you will have had two election cycles where there was no clear front runner. In 2016, the Republicans had 16 candidates running and one person stood out. In this year's election, the Democrats have no front runner. They have more than 20 people running for president.
And they don't know who their leader is going to be and they're going to lose. So you know what that means? That means that you're going to have no, no incumbent come 2024. On either side. On either side, you're not going to have an incumbent for the Republicans because it's not going to be pens. You're not going to have incumbent on, on with the Democrats because they're going to lose. So who's next in line on either side? There's a good chance you could have 30 Republicans running and 30 Democrats running. You could have 60 or 90 people running for president. This is, this is absurd town. You know what could happen then? It could be the time that an independent or a third party could finally rise to prominence. It would finally make sense. It would finally have an opening for someone or some group of people to just be loud enough to get enough people to rally behind them.
This both excites me and scares me because you could go one of two directions. You could go the super niche person, like quite literally a socialist, who gets enough people upset about a group of things.
And wins nomination or wins the election. You could get people who were on the extreme right too, who were super nationalist, super protectionist. You could get the extremes of the party to win. I think it would probably more lean socialist like this would be the time that you would have an extreme swing to the left and have just that big government socialist come in and win. But there's another opportunity that could happen too.
You could simply have the person with the biggest audience win as an independent. And I think the two people most likely to have that happen are Ivanka Trump, but not as a Republican, as an independent or a Democrat, and Dwayne the Rock Johnson. I mean this in all seriousness. I think the front runner for election in 2024 is Dwayne the Rock Johnson. I am not kidding, I am not making a joke. I think he is the front runner to win if he wants to run because one swipe up on Instagram gets more attention than all the other 59 candidates who could be running. And all he has to do is come out with a decent platform, be very bold, throw shade at the other candidates and be entertaining and he could control the news cycle.
I mean this in all seriousness and I also think chief of staff Kevin Hart.
Coming off of a eight years of Trump where we've been throwing mud at each other, you, you are either going to get.
An even bigger extreme like a crazy socialist who gets elected, or you're going to have the world just wants to be entertained for a few years and so they're going to pick someone that everybody likes and it's Dwayne Johnson as an independent.
And, and, and if I was a betting man, that's where I would put my money. I really do believe that the Rock is likely to be president come 2024 if he wants to. And if he wants to, he'll be the front runner or it's going to go to one of the super niche extremes. We shall see. Those are. That's probably the most controversial thing that I believe as of right now what I think is going to happen in of terms 2020 and 2024. Now let's talk about money. I have been saying boldly on the podcast, on other people's podcasts recently that one of the lies that I used to believe was that money equals freedom now. And when I've said this on other people's podcasts, they've said, oh, I still believe that to be true. And I've gotten into a couple discussions with people on Instagram who, who vehemently disagree with me now here's what I mean when I say this. I used to think that money meant you could live life however you wanted. What I have discovered instead. And you know, that might have been true 100 years ago, but it is no longer true because we have so many options already. Money just amplifies and expands the menu of options. Money has the ability to sometimes undo previous bad decisions, which is what most of us call freedom. We don't want to work the job that we have decided in the past to work at. And so money gives us the freedom to choose differently. But the truth is, you can choose differently now. You just would have to change your bills. Money could give you the ability to start a business, but you can start a business now. You're just scared to lose money.
Money could give you the freedom to walk away from that marriage, but you can walk away from that marriage now. You're just afraid of what it will cost or afraid of being on your own. And you think money would give you the ability to do that with more ease. Money expands the menu of options, but it is not freedom. Money can make things go fast, faster, but it doesn't make things go. You make things go. Freedom is exclusive from money. Freedom is its own thing. Freedom can be achieved in a variety of different ways. It can come from cutting expenses, it can come from moving. It can come from making different decisions. Freedom is freedom. Money is not freedom. They're different. Money doesn't expand freedom, it expands options. Money doesn't give you more ability to choose. It just gives you more options to choose from, which actually can create less freedom. Because you can feel trapped by the paradox of choice. Freedom happens when you decide to live authentically to who you are. You don't feel free and at work because you're afraid of speaking what you believe to be true or doing what you think is best because you're afraid to lose the money that comes from the job. You don't feel free in your current business, so you want to start something else. Or you want to sell the thing you have because you're not currently operating from a place of ease and service and freedom and creation within your business. So you think that if you made more money or sold this thing, you could then start the thing that you didn't have to have attached to money. But the truth is, you could just do the things that you want to do without being attached to the money in your current job or in your current business. And I guarantee you that if you did those things, you would make more money. You also can be free in your relationship. Now, if you are bold enough, willing enough, confident enough, feel free enough to express what it is that you truly want, not what you think you can get from your partner. That's freedom. Doing what you think is necessary to keep the peace or get the result is enslavement. And that's what we usually do at work. It's what we do in our business. It's what we do in our relationship. Relationships. And that's why you don't feel free regardless of how much money is in the bank. You don't feel free because you are not operating from a place of authenticity, because you're scared. Money you think would make you feel more confident, which would allow you to operate from a more authentic place. Because you wouldn't be scared to lose what you already have. You wouldn't be scared of losing the job if you had a million dollars in the bank. You wouldn't be scared of the business going under if you got a $10 million check. But I promise you, you would be. You have not practiced the art of freedom. You haven't earned freedom. Freedom is a mindset. Freedom is not a situation. It is not a financial state of being. It is a mindset. Freedom is being willing. Freedom is the confidence. Freedom is your choice to operate as you want to operate. It's the precursor, not the result. You don't become free once you make the money. You make the money when you are creating from a place of freedom and ease. That's the difference. When you get that, you can be as happy as you want. You can create life as you want. You're as abundant as you want. And I hope that you don't take as long as I did to learn that lesson. Thanks y' all for listening. I hope you found value out of this one. Please share it with someone. I always. Nevermind. Don't share it. Don't share this with anybody. Keep this a secret. Keep this our little secret. Don't share this with anyone else. I love you.
