The Best Opportunity For Entrepreneurs For The Next 3 - 5 Years
11 Dec 2025 · 12 min
Ryan Daniel Moran argues the best near-term entrepreneurial opportunity (next ~3–5 years) is building businesses around other people’s existing audiences (influencers, bloggers, email lists, Facebook groups). Rather than glorifying founder-from-scratch products, he recommends partnering with audience owners, supplying product/operations/funding, and structuring vested equity for influencers who drive growth. He emphasizes audience responsiveness over size, gives examples (info products, celebrity partnerships, physical product brands), and promotes related training/community offerings (the 1%, Eight Figure Exits) as places to learn and find partners. He frames audience-owned distribution as a valuable asset that legacy brands lack and that will drive wealth transfer to audience-driven brands.

That is how the real business world works. Do not confuse your job as an entrepreneur with being a founder. So many entrepreneurs think that there's no value in anything other than creating the product and building it from scratch. That's not true. Capitalism is about bringing resources together. So we glorify founders who come up with a new idea and then grind their way to making millions or billions. But if you really just want to be successful, then your job is to look at where there is an underpriced asset and bring it to where it is of more value. It takes one free person to create change. This is the show for them. We are the creators of the free world. This is capitalism.com and we are the 1%.
Hey capitalists, before we jump into today's episode, if you've crossed seven figures and now you're stuck and you're frustrated and you're overworked and you're not seeing the same growth and excitement that you had when you started this thing, but you know that you're sitting on something special and it's driving you crazy that you can't get what is in your head out into the world. I know why you're stuck and I can help. Go over to capitalism.com 7. I've put together a write up about why you're stuck in how to get unstuck and how I can help you in 2020 and beyond. Looking for exciting businesses with fun entrepreneurs who are frustrated because they know that they're capable of more. So go to capitalism.com7 and we'll get you growing again.
Hey friends, this is Ryan Daniel Moran. Welcome back to the 1% today. I want to share with you what I think is the greatest opportunity for entrepreneurs in this era. And this is going to be the case for about the next three years. So for those of you who have been following my work for some time, you know that I jumped on the Amazon wagon back in 2013 when it was a big wide open west period. And I would submit to you that we are about to enter into a new wide open west period, or at least a similar type of opportunity over the next three to maybe four years or so. And it's going to surprise you at the simplicity of it. But at the same time, I think it is staring us all in the face and very few people are taking advantage of it. And this is not going to be a wide open window forever because I think that it will consolidate in five or six years or so and then it'll go to a new opportunity. But the opportunity that I would like to present to you today is building businesses around other people's audiences. You have heard me talk about audiences and addressing the who and identifying the who is your customer rather than the what is your product. You've been hearing me talk about that for a long time. If you've been following me for long enough. Well, if you partner with someone who already has a responsive audience, then the who is already established. There is already traffic, and your only job is to introduce a product or a service that makes sense to that person. Now let me tell you a little bit how this might work. I have a friend who is in the information product world. He writes, copy and sells online courses and stuff like that. And his whole business now is he goes to celebrities or semi celebrities who have some sort of expertise. I know he has a few who are in the muscle building world and he goes to them and he says, hey, I love your podcast. You've got a great audience, you have a great Instagram following. Why don't you let me write the copy behind a product or program that matches your expertise and we can use my team to produce the product. I'll write the copy and run the traffic for it. And he takes the lion's share of the profits. And the person who is the face of it just keeps creating content that supports the funnels and the marketing behind that product and that promotion. And it's a great win win scenario in the physical product world. You can take a page out of my buddy Brian Lee's book. He's the principal behind LegalZoom, ShoeDazzle, the honest company, Art of Sport, and he was a principal investor behind Honey, the app that I believe is four, maybe $3 billion businesses on his resume. Well, Brian partners with audiences, sometimes celebrities and sometimes people who just have a following. He and his team come up with the product idea and he raises the money to be able to fund that. And he sits in the owner's chair and gets to watch the company grow. That, to me, is how real business gets done in the Internet entrepreneurial world. So many of us confuse entrepreneurship with being a founder. The idea of starting something from scratch rather than being the person who brings the pieces together. That's a capitalist. A capitalist is somebody who looks at all of the different resources and brings them together. One of the most obvious resources in the world back in 2013 was selling on Amazon. You had all this traffic and attention and you had not enough supply. Therefore, if you put anything for sale on Amazon, it sold really well. We've Seen that happen in the last year with TikTok. TikTok is an entertainment platform where there has been more demand than there was supply. So if you put content on TikTok, you built an audience really quickly. The same is about to happen with partnerships with audiences. You have all of these audiences, all of these Instagramers and bloggers, and all of these different responsive groups that are underserved in terms of what they could buy as a product or as a service. And you as a capitalist, have the opportunity right now to go to those audiences and to create relationships and partnerships with them. It only takes one relationship to completely change your life. So, for example, you might follow a blogger or a food recipe person or someone who makes a lot of videos about cooking. And if you go to them and you say, hey, I love the way that you approach this and I would like to create a product line around you, and you go and either raise the money or fund it yourself, and you launch that product to their audience, you can crowdfund the first inventory, you can pre sell the products, you can send all the traffic to Amazon and not have to do giveaways and search, find, buy and all that stuff in order to juice the algorithm. Because you'll own the distribution, you own the audience, and their attention is the foundational asset behind the product line. This is why it's so popular to launch brands around celebrities. And you see them advertised on tv, that celebrity is already on tv, somebody who is watching TV says they have a brand and that business pops. Well, that bubble is gonna burst and it's going to come down to influencers and audiences online. And for the next three to five years, we're gonna have the opportunity to make partnerships with those influencers and build brands around them and use their free audience, use their free attention to launch that brand that will be available for the next three to five years. And at that point, then there will be enough influencers and there will be enough demand on the price of attention that that opportunity will go away. Meaning that the Instagram ads and the Facebook ads of today will become appropriately priced. They'll be priced like TV ads. And we won't have this free opportunity that we have right now, but for the next few years, we've got a pretty nice window where we can go to where there is attention, which is our around certain influencers or audience leaders and create partnerships with them and launch a business to them. Launch a business to their audience. Now, the way that I often structure my relationships with influencers or audiences is we have Some sort of a vested or vesting interest. And that means that we'll carve out a certain amount of equity that that influencer could earn if we work together or hit certain projections together. And they're reasonable for both parties because I know that if the influencer contributes to the growth of the value of the business, then they've earned that equity. I know that I can't launch the business as quickly without the influencer and they know that they're not going to build the business without me and my team. And so a partnership makes a lot of sense there. We'll provide the infrastructure, the funding and the product line. You provide the attention to your audience and, and as long as we're happy, we'll continue to work together and make a lot of money together for a very long time. I do not like building brands around someone's name, but I do like building brands around the influencer's direct audience and making a brand for them. Remember, it's all about the who. And the who is not your influencer or your partner. The who is about the customer that is purchasing. @ the end of the day, they follow certain people because they want something in their lives. And if you give them the product or service that also allows them to become that person, you can make a lot of money and grow very quickly. What this essentially does is it gives you a lot of fuel at the beginning to be able to launch a business quickly and get it on the map. You can release product after product after product much faster if you're following the 12 months to 1 million plans. By the way, you can order the book right now on Amazon. 12 months to 1 million by Ryan Daniel Moran. If you're following that 12 months to 1 million plan where you launch 3 to 5 products to an audience, get them to 25 sales a day each, you have 100 sales a day and that's a million dollar business. You'll do that much faster if you actually have an audience that you control. You can either build that audience yourself or you can create a partnership with someone. Now when I talk about audiences or influencers, most people will think of Instagram because Instagram is the most used platform. But that's not necessarily the case. Blogs are great information. Product sellers are awesome. People who have email lists are bangin anyone with a Facebook group that is responsive. An Instagram following where they can send a lot of traffic with a swipe up. These are all amazing audiences. It's not just about how big their following is. In fact, that's the least important part, the responsiveness of the following and the direct targeting of the following is everything. It would be really stupid to partner with a.
Instagram influencer, a model with a million followers, and build a beauty line around that person. That would be really stupid. Why? Because more than half the following is creepy. Dudes looking at the model, they don't want beauty products. Now if the influencers market is beauty tips and makeup routines, now we got something. But the size of the following means nothing. The responsiveness of the audience means everything. This is why it's overrated. I say that content is overrated because most people are trying to create content that isn't for their specific person. Most people are creating. If you sell kitchen stuff, you're giving your audience recipes. That's a waste of time, that doesn't serve the direct person in the way that they're following you to be served. And so as a result, you'll lose the responsiveness of your audience, but you might gain size. That's not what we want. We want additional responsiveness which requires you to go very micro at the beginning. Go all in on every comment, all in on every new follower or partner with someone who already has. I have a buddy here in town, his name is Steve. Steve partnered with my other buddy, Zach. Zach had the following. Steve had the kind of operations experience and was able to create some products around that audience and they built some really exciting products together. In fact, I believe they're being featured in the 1% this month. So that partnership of somebody who has an audience with somebody who has the product line experience or wants to develop the business around it is an absolutely beautiful relationship. I mentioned my buddy Brian Lee earlier and I know I quote him a lot, but Brian Lee sits in that owner's chair where he raises the money, he partners with the influencer or the audience and he goes gets the CEO to build the product line. And he doesn't own 100% of the business. He might only own 30% of the business, but it's a business that he is not operating and has the potential to be a billion dollar business. That's how business gets done. Right now, the greatest, that greatest mismatch things, where things are the most underpriced is in audiences. It's in going to where there are, there's existing attention and giving them products and services that they want. If you have a business right now and you're not growing as fast as you'd like, one of the fast hacks to this is not to go sponsor influencers, but to open up relationships with audience leaders who might have a smaller following than you're used to, but are very, very targeted towards the exact customer that you serve. If you open a relationship with them and your products are a match for their audience, you, you will naturally create excitement for them and they'll want to share it with their audience. And as a result of that, you can start to open up conversations about what an equity relationship might look like. And if you open up that type of a conversation and you have a few influencers of a small minority portion of the business, and we're talking a few points in the company that are earned over time, that collective sharing of knowledge and traffic allows you to distribute your products way faster at higher profit margins to the exact type of people who want to be raving fans of your business. That's powerful, that is exciting, and that's where fast growth will happen. So I would encourage you to, whether you are starting a business or you are looking to scale your existing business, to ask yourself, after you've identified who is my who? We say, where does my who hang out, where does my person hang out? And where does that person hang out with other people like them? And right now that is around Internet influencers, bloggers, emailers, social media personalities and the like. And if you create partnerships with them, you are basically creating a partnership with the distribution to your ideal person. That will allow you to hit the seven figure mark much faster. That will give you a business that is independent of retail or Amazon or Shopify or ClickBank. It will give you independence from your sales channel because you will control the traffic, you will control the audience. That gives you independence from Facebook ads too. If you control the distribution, you control your destiny. And a partnership with an audience is the greatest and most affordable option right now to control your own destiny. The other option is to build it yourself by running Facebook ads to email lists and building up your own following. And that's great. I'm gonna suggest you do both. Create the partnership with the audience because the exposure is free. You'll have profit margins that are through the roof. You'll be able to launch any product that you want to that audience. And then you can turn on Facebook ads to help scale the business. But if you skip that, then you're taking more of a risk by running more paid media to something that is not proven and that may not be for your ideal audience. That's the greatest opportunity staring Internet entrepreneurs in the face right now, going to where there is an audience and launching a business or a brand around them. An audience is simply consolidated attention and traffic. It's a concentrated amount of attention in one place that gives you a launch pad for any product or service. It gets you to the awareness that you need to be a seven figure business much faster. It gives you independence from other sales channels and it allows you to control your own profit margins because there's a built in trust with the audience that you're partnered with.
This is a focus of what we do inside of eight Figure exits, which is one of the training portions inside the tribe. And if you want to go through this, you can join us over@capitalism.com tribe. It's a one day workshop with me. There is an online Sprint kind of an online accelerator and there's a year of community and coaching calls as a part of all of that. And it's made for entrepreneurs who are building seven figure businesses that they want to sell. This will be an accelerator to help you get there faster. Also check this out. This idea of partnering with audiences is our theme this month, inside of the 1%. So our newsletter has case studies and some resources to help you do this. It's also going to be the topic of the live content that we do inside the 1%. And it's also going to be the theme of what we're talking about inside of the Facebook group. So what this will allow you to do is collaborate with other people who are talking about this stuff. So the real magic inside the 1% is not the content, although it's super helpful. The real magic behind what we're doing here is when you pay 99 bucks a month and you come into a group of people who are talking about a similar topic and have similar goals to create wealth and passive income, you start collaborating opportunities together. So when we're talking about audiences, the natural order of things is somebody is gonna say, hey, look, I have this relationship with this influencer. They've got about 200,000 followers on Instagram and they have an email list of 30,000 people. They're in the cooking space, but I don't have a cooking product. Does anyone out there have a cooking product? I'd love to broker a relationship between these two. Those types of opportunities happen when we have the whole group talking about a specific idea and then communicating about content around that. So all of our live content is going to be around this topic throughout the month of March and it'll be the topic of conversation inside the Facebook group and the newsletter as well. And we're having my buddy Steve on, who I mentioned earlier, and my buddy Max, who finds the story behind brands and finds the who behind brands, which makes it easier for you to find influencers and partnerships. He's also the host of the Brand Builder podcast here on capitalism.com so if you're enjoying this idea and you can see where the puck is heading, which is that really cool seven and eight figure brands are gonna be built around where there are already audiences, then I'm going to encourage you to join us inside the 1% at least for this month. Join us over@Capitalism.com join. That's the active link for this month where you can learn about who's going to be joining us, who's going to be hanging out with us, and how you can join us for at least a 30 day trial. It will be worth you testing out many, many times over. Hope you enjoyed today's episode. This is the greatest opportunity. So staring entrepreneurs in the face. It's also why it's the biggest wealth transfer in history. Because all of these big brands at Procter and Gamble that have no audience, they're just dependent on TV ads and their existing distribution. They're gonna be buying up the next brands that are built around audiences. Cause that's the new distribution guys and girls. Do you realize that big brands are used to old ways of distribution? They're used to TV and retail. They don't understand going to audiences. So if you have the audience, you have an asset that they don't have. Here's a good story. This is gonna rock your world. Oh my goodness. If you've been listening to the podcast this long, you are gonna be rewarded with the biggest braingasm of your week. Are you ready? All right, here it comes. I invested in the business dressbarn 6 months ago and my buddies Tai Lopez and Alex Mayer were the organizers behind the deal. And they told me that when they bought Dressbarn, when they bought Dressbarn, the company that was operating it had a big email list of Buyers. And in order for them to mail their list, they had to put in a request with a third party company and wait six weeks for the email to go out. Are you kidding me? These big brands, that was a publicly traded company and a billion dollar business. At one point, this publicly traded billion dollar business did not understand email marketing. Listen, capitalists, that is not rare. It's rare among us because we're entrepreneurs. But to old business people that are very rich and very fat and happy, they're used to tv, radio, direct mail and retail and they're worth billions of dollars. Those billions of dollars are going to flutter down to those people like you and me who are building brands and have real distribution. If you own the distribution of today, you will probably be pursued by a brand that does not have the distribution of today. They have the distribution of yesterday and they will buy you because you'll have an asset that they can't compete with. This is the greatest opportunity for entrepreneurs. For the next three to five years it's going to be the case. If you want to talk about it this month, come join us@capitalism.com join and you can test out the 1% and we're going to talk about this stuff. And throughout the next year, two years, three years, 10 years, when you remember you're going to be meeting other people who are pursuing this and there's a chance that you make a relationship that changes the course of your life and you'll look back and say, you know that 99 bucks made me millions of dollars. Results may vary.
