Hey, there's other. There's other sites for other types of advertising.
Build a business, invest the profits. I'm Ryan Daniel Moran, and this is Freedom Fastlane.
Who we got on the phone?
We got Mr. Thompson.
Todd Keeling. Todd Keeling on the line.
Great. Hey, great to be on with you, Ryan. Thanks so much.
You bet, Todd. Good to meet you. What's going on?
Yeah, yeah. Great. Well, a question.
Yeah.
Todd, I'm glad.
I'm glad you called because I do have a question for you.
Okay.
What do you think happens when we die?
When we die? Well, we're going deep quick. Yeah, yeah.
Let's go right to it, man.
I thought about that this morning as I got up.
Me, too.
What happens?
What does. What do you think?
Well. Well, there's the two. Two options. In my mind, I do come from a religious background.
Oh.
Working there. But I. Yeah, I changed my mind on that. But, you know, if. If we kind of turn into vapor and disappear, I'm thinking I'm okay with that because I won't be thinking about it, so, you know, I won't be worrying about it anymore.
That's true.
So it's not a problem for me.
Yeah.
And then. But if it's. I come from. I actually was raised a Mormon, so there's a lot of belief about an afterlife there. And if it's kind of something like that in the Christian philosophy, well, that could be fun, too. So I don't actually spend too much time thinking about it these days, actually.
Except for this morning.
This morning? On occasion. Yeah. Mortality.
Where did the Gospel of Joseph Smith find you?
Well, at birth, it was a long tradition, actually. Old brother Joseph there is my uncle. My great, great, great uncle comes from a long pioneer. Yeah, a long pioneer side. Hyrum Smith, his brother is. Through our lineage, of course. The Mormons do a lot of genealogy. And back to Hyrum Smith is my Gregor Gregory. Whatever, grandfather. Yeah.
That's fascinating. What was the pivot point for you to leave religion?
Wow. I don't know. It's kind of intense. In fact, I just came from podcasting event. I'm in Seattle here. We just had a podcast meetup. I started a podcast, so I'm just walking away from that. I had a few years ago, about eight years ago, my stepson, a young adult, was killed by a King county sheriff in town. So pretty heavy stuff. I went through that whole process And I just had a. Yeah, it just seriously impacted me on how I thought about life and what I was doing and other things.
Yeah, that's kind of.
When. When that happened.
How long ago was that?
About eight years ago now.
Do you miss religion?
You know, it's interesting. I know I've heard you talk about. I followed you for a long time. So, you know, I know what. You know you a bit. You, of course, don't know me at all, but I know similarly, I missed the community aspect. I had a great. A great upbringing. I feel like I had multiple parents who were really kind and the kids and everything. I mean, I just had a great time with that, the community aspect and the connection. So I do miss that. I have looked us. You know, I ended up divorced on single. So I'm looking like a lot of people, especially a little later in life, for community and connection with people. So exploring different community formats and relationship structures here now. So. Yeah.
So as a former Mormon, what type of relationship structures are you researching right now?
Well, let's put it this way. I mean, I. I took a hard left in a lot of my.
Practices there. I, you know, all the way from, you know, I don't. I'm not really interested in traditional marriage per se, for different reasons outside of legal, but more of a more loose, open connection, really, to possible friendship, maybe friendship with.
You know, physical connections, polyamory, whatever. I'm just looking and talking to people. What people are kind of doing what might work for me at this stage of my life. My kids are. The two kids I have, twins are 24 and all. So it's pretty much what. I don't have those kind of commitments or concerns that a family might. If you have, like, someone, you know, who has young children, there's kind of other things to consider as, you know, raise a family. But I think there's some great flexible options out there. More people are open to really thinking about it, how that would work.
I think you are a pioneer, my friend.
All right.
I have grilled you about death, religion and marriage, man.
You covered the default. I bared my soul here.
Now that we've basically seen each other naked, what you got for me?
Well, okay, my question was this. I've been working on for a few years a skincare product line, skill, small line, motivated my own interests, and I come up with some great things in the past two years. Been working around locally, and one of the areas I ended up discovering was how well it worked for shaving and for men.
Exactly. Well, actually, it works for both. For women I would test it that for the, the nether regions or you know, the legs, whatever too. But for men, I think I love you.
Let's be best friends.
I like I had to use that word because I heard that I love that wor.
But my question I thought of was related to. I heard an interview about this but, but men themselves now how, how they are different in how they share or don't share, you know, when they find something they like. I know there's working with women and that there's a lot about how women certainly they talk, they share, they get together. But men are a different creature. Right. So I just wondered what your thoughts were about how with the social platforms etc, how if you know men might, what might work well for men to share or not share what your thoughts are. Yeah.
So, so hold on, are you. Tell me, tell me how you are trying to communicate this product to your target market. Like what, what. What does the product do for them that you're trying to communicate?
Okay, so the men's shaving aspect is just. I've been experimenting. It's not launched as that product yet but the product's called Real Skincare so it's a product based on skin's renewal cycle to reduce inflammation and redness, especially for people have sensitive skin. So that's what the basis is. So I came to it for like people who get razor burn for example me, I have really sensitive skin. I'm redhead. I found that using this term, it's a high biological lipids that are really just.
Helpful for the skin and they don't. It doesn't get in your eyes, it doesn't have irritants, etc that was my goal. So for active people who have sensitive skin is the idea. So I'm on Instagram so Real Skincare is on there and that's what I'm going to use as a platform. I'm building an audience. Like you've talked, I've listened to what you say, trying to build, initialize and launching too. I'm going to launch a small batch here, coming in a few weeks to that group. But I'm seeing that there's probably a really good underserved market for men, especially in this area. I think men are really underserved.
But by this area do you mean skin care or do you mean nether regions?
Well, both. I mean I think there's an opportunity in both but you can't do so much.
But okay, okay.
So. So I think there's more for men. It's just there's Overlook. So. For men. Yeah. Like Instagram.
Okay. So first of all, are you guessing or do you know this now?
What I do know is just two things. And again, I'm very early on the men's. The men's part of it, because I don't. I can only do so much at once. But what I did do through a couple platforms for men was take kind of an informal survey of. Ended up being a few hundred people, but asking them about their shaving routines and asking them how if they had problem with shaving. And I ended up with about 28% of the people. The men that responded, those couple hundred said they really have a problem with shaving. That was one thing. So I thought more about that. They said.
They said they don't.
They do have a problem shaving. About a third of men have said they have a real problem with being bothered by shaving for whatever reason. So that would may peak my interest too, but in my own work.
And you did not survey women, correct?
No, this was for men. This is just for men. That sort of.
And then I've given it out some to some men, but the emphasis has been on WIM to this point. But I'm just really. Like I said, I can't do too much at once and I'm bootstrapping this. But I'm really thinking from my own experience as I talk to some people. Get it out. I want to really pursue it because I think there is a area for quality skin care for men, especially who.
Here's how you market it. You need to do a before and after video of its use. Please do it on face or neck.
Okay. Yes, I know. Facebook rules.
Hey, there's other. There's other sites for other types of advertising, but for you do it on face and neck. And if you want to throw a. Oh God. Throw a bone to the.
To the. To the. Like a joke of. It works in other areas too. Then you can do that. Did you say the product is a serum?
Yeah, I have two parts. It's basically this. A serum which is just about, you.
Know, really light, but it's okay.
So it's a. It's a really calming serum with a few elements. So. And then there's a cream that has. This has a peptide cream that kind of works.
So a serum is a selective.
Estrogen receptor modulator. So it's that. That's like an F. That would take FDA approval anyway. So that's why. That's why I was surprised.
Okay, so just serum like you know? Yeah.
You need to show a before and after. Too many people talk about product features. You just need to show the product in use.
If for some reason that's difficult to do, then you need to get a video testimonial of one of your customers talking about it, showing it and talking about what it has done for them. And you need to run that as advertising. That's how you build your audience.
All right, sounds good. Yeah, that's what I will do. I'm excited. Cool.
Well, thanks for the chat, man. This was fun.
Yeah, man, it's been fun to meet you and talk. All right, dude, talk to you later. Okay. Night.
I like him. Tom's cool. He is cool.
