Ryan Daniel Moran announces the relaunch of the Freedom Fastlane podcast to document his next phase: helping entrepreneurs build businesses and invest profits to create lifestyle freedom. He updates listeners on personal changes—prioritizing health (sleep, blood/DNA analysis, diet adjustments), rebuilding relationships and community via his Tribe 5 routine, and refrocusing business strategy at Capitalism.com (lighting other people's fires, the One Percent offerings, and a turnaround at Foxbrim). He invites listeners to apply to be featured on the show via capitalism.com/fflpodcast.

Build a business, invest the profits. I'm Ryan Daniel Moran and this is Freedom Fastlane.
What is this? What's this music? Why is this, Was this playing? What is happening right now? Well, I'll tell you what's happening. You're listening to Freedom Fastlane. Mother Fastlaners. Welcome back to Freedom Fastlane. I'm Ryan Daniel Moran and I'm jazzed to have you here on the show. I started a podcast back in 2013 called Freedom Fastlane and ran it over five years. Over five years. Most of you discovered my work during that time. And I retired the show in late 2018 because I had completed a chapter in my life. I had completed the chapter of seeking personal financial freedom. And it was time to start a new journey. And during those five years, many of you followed along as I documented the journey of starting businesses, investing the profits, reporting on their successes, and ultimately exiting a couple of those businesses, one of which was a very substantial amount of money, at least for me at the time. And many of you built businesses and followed along. And hundreds of you, only the people I've heard of, hundreds, hundreds of people I've actually heard of, have reported to me that they've built seven figure businesses as a result of us tracking that journey. When I exited the business, I started the 1% podcast, which is still here on capitalism.com and the 1% was about becoming the top 1% is about becoming the top 1% in all areas of life. But after the last Capitalism conference over the last couple of months, we've had some really interesting conversations around these parts, both among those of you who are at the event and those of you who DM me on Instagram or write to me@ryanapitalism.com that you have received a lot of joy and a lot of freedom and a lot of benefit from hearing the topic discussed of creating real lifestyle freedom. And I have said and have a podcast called Freedom is the Doing. Freedom is the Process. Freedom is the enjoyment of the process, rather than the someday results that you get from doing things that you hate. And I want to talk about these things more. I want to dive in this with you together. And as a result, I am excited to welcome you back to Freedom Fast Lane, the show about building businesses and investing the profits so that you can create the change that you want in your own life. You can live life on demand. You can live life on your terms. You can set the rules for how you operate. That is freedom. That is what freedom is. It is living out the process within the system. That you create. And one theory that I'm kicking around in my brain right now is that it's hard to do that when you are still operating in survival mode. So our brains are not really wired to make us happy. Our brains are wired to keep us alive. Our brains are wired for us to survive. And happiness is a byproduct of increased survival. Fact check me on this. The brain releases happy chemicals when you have an increase in your likelihood of survival. So this is why we love progress. For example, when we grow, we get an increased chance of survival. That's why we do the things that we do, and it rewards us with happiness. We don't tend to get enjoyment out of the things that kill us. Ah, what about food? Well, evolutionarily speaking, food, if you eat a really high calorie meal, it results in.
Happiness because we have an increased chance of survival in the short and medium term. So all of this to say we really are wired to survive and happiness is a reward for survival behavior. And it's really hard to be happy or even to think about freedom when you are scared about your survival. What does that mean? It means that if you're broke and you're worried that you're going to lose the house, it means your brain is only thinking about survival. It is not thinking about how do I create my life on my own terms. This doesn't enter into our brain because it is trying to survive first. So when I sold my company a couple years ago, I kind of forgot about my own privilege, My own privilege of timing, my own privilege of mentorship, my own privilege of having made it. And so I went on a process of really defining my own freedom again, of really defining the new rules in which my life would operate, because I now have an increased chance of survival. But I have now been told, and I now understand that by speaking about only those things, I really don't come down and help other people elevate out of that spot. And with the track record that we've got of creating a lot of really profitable and successful businesses, it'd be kind of a waste to not do that more often. And to be honest with you, I really miss it. Really miss hanging out with y' all in some of the weeds rather than just exploring new topics, which I really enjoy doing. And we document here inside of the 1% on capitalism dot com. So the purpose of this show is. Is to continue to document my journey as I continue to unfold the next layer and level of freedom, but also to work with you directly on your businesses and your investments so that you are creating freedom and the space with which you can create the rules for your own life. So this is how this is gonna work. I'm gonna continue to document my own life and my own journey here on the show, but also I want to invite you to come onto Freedom Fast Lane and to bring your business, bring your challenges, bring your goals to the table, and work with me on the show. And we're going to document your journey too. Here's how this works. We've said over. We put up a form@capitalism.com fflpodcast capitalism.com fflpodcast when you go there, you'll see a few questions in which you can submit your business, your challenge, or your investment portfolio. And my team will be looking at it and inviting you to set up a time with me in order to be on Freedom Fastlane. Then we're gonna record it, and if we like it, we'll put it here on the show, and in that way, we'll document your journey here on capitalism.com Again, that's@capitalismics.com FFLpodcast with that, I wanna invite you to come on the show and bring your challenges and bring your business and work with myself and my team, just for fun, just to see if we can make your path to freedom a little bit faster or. Or fast Lanier, we might say. So welcome back to the show, everybody. It feels really good to be hanging out with you again. Where I wanted to go with the rest of today is I would like to selfishly update you on my path on my journey, because when I reset the podcast, when we ended Freedom Fast Lane and we began the 1% podcast, I was very public about the fact that I felt like I was resetting. I was going through the winter season of entrepreneurship, letting old things die, letting things go away that needed to go away. And that sucks. Like, it really hurts. It really hurts to go through the process of undoing. Breakups hurt. Divorces hurt. Ending, vacation hurts, ending. The thing that got you to where you are always is a bit of a grieving process.
It's almost like the price of enjoyment is the grieving of something ending. The fact that you are grieving anything is the opposite of the enjoyment or the love of what existed. Right? All our brains know how to do is compare. We make all of our evaluations based on a comparison. So what's, you know, what's fun? You know, whatever we think boredom is, what's happy, you know, that's just compared to what we think should be. So in the same way, when we experience fun or happiness or excitement, the other side of that is loss. There is always a loss when we have something that we like, because when it ends and everything does, there's going to be a process of that. And I was very public about the fact that I felt as though I had had to reset most of my life. And the last six to 12 months have been. That have been me redefining the rules for my life. And at the beginning of 2019, I decided that I would, if I did nothing else, if I did no other, if nothing, no other progress happened this year. The one thing that I was going to accomplish was I was going to get my health in check. Now I am a pretty healthy person. I care about what goes into my body. I'm very intentional about what I eat, about how I move, about how much I sit. I am very aware of all of these things. But I went through a hellish few years in terms of the amount of stress in my life. So I had a podcast episode with Dr. Anthony Balduzzi in which he analyzed my blood panels and said, basically all of this points to you being incredibly stressed. And if we look back on the last few years of my life, sold a business, bought a business, had a kid. That was a surprise. Didn't sleep much while I was building businesses, becoming a dad, trying to get abs. Went through a separation. I moved no less than four or five times.
I had a lot of stress and tax on my body. So I don't mean to act like my problems are worse than other people's problems. They're not. We've all got them. But in terms of physical and mental stress, I had a lot. So in 2018, I stopped sleeping through the night.
I could tell physically things were not going well. I craved really weird foods and a lot of them. And I started overeating. And I could tell that my body was no longer keeping. Was no longer able to withstand the stress that I was putting on it. And so I decided to kind of reboot my personal life, and if nothing else, I would get my health back in check. And over the last few months, I think a lot of you have noticed, and this has been communicated to me from the outside world, that my tone has started to improve. I kind of feel like more like myself. It's like I'm not trying so hard anymore. And that's really freeing. It's really great. I do feel more like myself. And part of that I just wanna go through what did that for me and hopefully if you are going through a stressful time, you'll benefit from this. But the first thing that I did was I moved out of downtown Austin, which is where I lived before. And I bought.
My life wasn't stressful enough. So I bought two houses. One that I refurbished as a lake house. You've heard me talk about it. I hold masterminds there and workshops there and events there, and it's awesome. But I also bought a home in the suburbs in Austin, Texas that backs up to a nature preserve. It's an old bungalow that needs a bunch of work and has a fireplace that I had to have repaired and a bunch of things in the house that I need to, need to fix up and things like that. But like, I bought an old bungalow and on a nature preserve and best of all, it, you know, one, it's away from the stress of downtown. So I just kind of feel like I have more mental space. But the thing that's really cool about it is it's 13 doors down from my daughter. So I bought a house on Pam and Esther street. And we have this really cool situation where we walk back and forth to each other's house like on a, you know, on a daily, sometimes twice daily basis. They were over here this morning. It's really cool. Anyway, what that did is it kind of gave me some breathing room to address the rest of kind of the stress and.
The physical things I needed to take care of. So, you know, I live in this nature preserve. I have this 43 acre hiking trail in my backyard. I go through a lot of long walks and that's really relaxing. I have a, a fireplace in this house. And I, you know, I make, I make fires in the living room, which is really cool. So I have relearned kind of some relaxation techniques that I'm still developing. But the other thing that I just committed to this year was that I was gonna go under the hood, look, have some deep, deep analysis of my blood panels and DNA and stuff like that and see what numbers do I need to move in order for me to be physically back on track. And I started working with a holistic doctor here in Austin. He is cited by a lot of kind of the biohacking community and he happens to be here in town. I'll probably have him on the podcast as I continue kind of my recovery. But there were a couple things that really stood out to him when he went through a really deep analysis of my numbers. And the first was he looked at my cortisol numbers, my stress Hormones. He just went, wow, whoa, dude. And what he doesn't know is that was after I learned how to relax and take a break. So physically my body was just taxed. It's just totally taxed. It was done, basically. So that was the first thing that he noticed. The second thing that he noticed was one of my biomarkers.
In my lipid profile was off the charts bad. And what's weird is in my lipid profile, which is cholesterol and heart health, that kind of stuff.
Everything was amazing, right? If I went to a traditional doctor and had them look at my blood profile, they'd have been like, whoo, man, do keep doing what you're doing. You're doing great. I actually had someone look at it and say, I wish everybody had these numbers. This is amazing. However, this is a very in depth analysis and the last number on the list, I don't know what it was. You know, I'm no expert on this, but my doctor looks at me and he says, this is heart attack risk. This is the thing that says whether or not you're at risk for heart attack and you're off the charts bad. And forgive me doctor, if I'm totally butchering your analysis. He said, I'll have to wait and get back your DNA results to see if my thesis is confirmed. But based on what you are.
Based on what I see here, I don't think your body processes plant protein the way that everyone else does. And if that assumption is correct, then you eating a very plant based diet is going to result in heart disease for you. And I went, what? Now I didn't tell him that I was eating a mostly plant based diet at the time. And I was eating a mostly plant based diet because I was trying to reduce stress. Because.
I don't mean to geek out on you, but carbs help cortisol levels. Now, there's nothing wrong with carbs, nothing wrong with fats, nothing wrong. It's just I was eating for what I thought would give me a lower stress profile. And as a result, I was eating a mostly vegetarian plant based diet. And he looked at this and he said, this isn't. If my assumptions are correct, that ain't gonna work for you, it's gonna make it worse and you're gonna die younger.
Now, as of the time of this recording, I, I just got the results back from my DNA test and I have not received the interpretation of that yet. There's a very, very complex analysis of. This is not 23andMe. This is like going through Individual genes and finding out what you are genetically predisposing, genetically predispose, you know what I'm saying? What you are predictably going to experience based on your genes. So that's coming up and I will report back on what I discover. But I have started to change some lifestyle habits in order to move those numbers to closer to what they need to be. And I am already starting to feel a lot better now beyond that, beyond health, getting back on track, which is my primary focus at the moment, by the way, that also includes sleep.
I have identified that the biggest mover in my life, the decisions I make, the stress I feel, it comes down to how well I sleep. So one of the things I'm really focused on is rebuilding sleep habits, like really good sleep hygiene, if you will. So I have not quite given up coffee, but I only have coffee maybe every other day rather than six cups a day, which is what I was doing. I went through a two week detox where I did not have any caffeine for two weeks. And first day, fine. Second day, okay, third day, could barely move. If you've never done a two week detox on the things that you might be addicted to, why wow, it was revealing about myself. So I now only drink coffee like every other day instead of six times a day. That's a big adjustment. And doing things like just having hard times in which I stop eating and hard times in which I just shut off work. I have to. It's 8:30, it's 9 o'. Clock. I have to shut off work or else I know that I'm going to pay for it tomorrow with bad sleep hygiene or. So these are just things that I'm starting to work in and practice in for my health, happiness, balance, stuff like that. All right, so that's the health side of things. The next thing that I am kind of rebuilding in my life has been relationships and community. I've realized through therapy, realized through my own kind of journaling and meditative practices, how much I am driven by a need and a desire for community. It's one of the reasons why if you are subscribed to my emails, which if you're not, come on, get with the program, go to capitalism.com and give me your damn email address. Why? I have stressed community so much.
In my sales messages even because I've realized I'm building the business I want. I'm trying to solve the problems that I've had in my life, which is things like a lack of community. And entrepreneurs tend to be lonely People, it's what makes us good entrepreneurs because we're used to having everything on our back. So one of the changes I want to create in the world is to create more community, especially among big thinkers and idealistic people and those who are personally responsible. And so by doing so, I feel more in alignment with my own mission. I feel more energy about work, and I feel like I'm creating the change I want to see in the world and just getting paid for it, which is a very freeing feeling. And that has to reflect in my own personal life too, because just like sleep, if I'm actively plugged into community and relationships, my life is just measurably better. So that means I have to keep regular guy time on my calendar and I don't see as many people anymore since I live not in the hustle and bustle of the city anymore. So I have to be more intentional about those things. I now am again practicing the routine that I popularized called the Tribe 5, which is spending one activity in time, one activity in relationships, income, body and expansion. T R I B E Because those are the things that keep me on track. Time is meditation, relationships, maintaining regular in person time with people. Income is identifying my one thing every day that I must accomplish to stay on track. B. That body point is moving. Getting 10,000 steps a day is what I'm tracking right now. Which means usually I just have to go for a hike and then expansion, reading, listening to a podcast, something like that. So my daily routine will look something like wake up, go for a hike, meditate, decide what my one thing is going to be for the day or for the week. Great. It's now 8:30am I got my three points. I got three of the five done and then I get my one thing done. Reach out to somebody, set up a time to connect and read before I go to bed. That's how I am working towards my goals and practicing those rituals that keep me healthy and happy. And the way that I decide what those habits are going to be is based on the goals that I set in each one of those areas. So, for example, in time for the T point, my ultimate goal is to be spending 80% of my time doing things I really love. And that's content creation. That's making offers. It's doing the things that I got into business to do in the first place. Which is why, if you haven't noticed, we're doing a lot more content on capitalism.com with something like income. To be regularly producing a certain amount of money on a Monthly or yearly basis. I know what things I need to do in order to make those things happen. And so it's just doing them on a regular basis. I have fitness goals and body goals, so I need to get out and walk, work out and do the things that I know will lead me closer to that. Anyway, if you have not heard the episode on the Tribe five, it's a morning routine that I highly recommend that.
You explore or that you test. It's made a meaningful difference in my life and the lives of other people. And to bring this home, I want to talk about business real fast. On the business side of things.
I have, I had to cut a lot of things that weren't working@capitalism.com and in other businesses as well. And I will talk about those. One, you know, I wasn't real. I haven't been real public about this, but I guess now's a good time. I have, you know, I shared that I bought a business. It's called Fox. It was called, it is called foxbrim. And it was, you know, a substantial financial decision to acquire this company. And my partner and I were really bullish on it. And it's been hard.
It's a different business buying and turning around businesses. And it's been a really hard turnaround. It's been tough, and it's been one of the most stressful things in my work life because you buy a business, it's a significant expense to buy a business and hasn't gone how we thought. And the benefit, the silver lining in that is that we have had to completely rework the business model. And I'm going to be sharing with you the results of what we are experimenting with and how it's been going. It took a good year to reset our thesis, to reset the direction of the company. And now that we have reset that, we're really confident.
Cautiously optimistic at least. Meaning, you know, I said to Clement, my partner, I said, you know, I'm willing to fall on this sword.
I'm confident enough to where we're either going, this is either going to work, or I will confidently lay on this sword and say we gave it our best go. So I will share more about that turnaround as it becomes relevant here on Freedom fast lane. At capitalism.com, we also rebuilt our thesis, rebuilt kind of the strategy in which we were doing because up until late 2018, if the company wanted to make money, Ryan would do a dance, Ryan would take on a client, Ryan would.
You know, sell some things. And I didn't have the energy to do that anymore, to just react to doing things that made money. It's not interesting to me anymore. You know, I don't need to do things for money. So why am I doing things? To keep the company financials where they need to be. And as a result, I had to go real dark, get real quiet, and discover what do I enjoy more than anything else. And that is from a day to day standpoint, it's creating content, it's doing this. I'm having a great time right now hanging out with you, by the way. Thanks for listening. You're such a good listener. And from a business or a production standpoint, my favorite thing to do is to light other people's fires. And by that I mean I like to have the assets, the resources, the leverage, the audience to be able to apply that to any other business and watch it catch fire. So, for example, I have been outlining and I'm really excited about.
I really want to start a food company. And I have a specific approach that I want to take to this food company. I know what the angle is, I know what the foods are going to be. I'm really jazzed about this idea and when it happens, I'll share about it, I'll share more about it. But right now.
It'S not worth sharing just yet. But I really want to do this food company. And I know that by building up an audience and sharing it and talking about it and documenting it, it'll grow faster, right? Because I have connections. Now. There are those of you who would want to fund that. There are those of you who would want to share it on Instagram. There are those of you who are listening who would want to buy the products. And since I know that, to me, it's very joyful to take a business you're proud of and light it on fire and watch it catch fire. This is also why this show is going to have more regular contributions from you. I want you on the show so I can light that fire. Because you're gonna put your idea in front of lots of people who will probably reach out to you because you're gonna have a platform. You know, it's this idea of just putting something over, right?
So that's exciting. And when I'm able to communicate that now, I'm able to say to my team, hey, let's go in. I want to build the structure with which we are lighting fires. And so one of the things we looked at in the last few months was, okay, how do we systematically build the Business that lights other fires. And we have a continuity program called the One Percent. You can sign up@capitalism.com 1. The One Percent was our library of content where we were creating ongoing monthly content that was, you know, my goal was to give $100,000 insight every month. So have $100,000 idea, $100,000 opportunity, $100,000 stock pick every month. And it was great. It's been great. But something's been missing. And what was missing is we weren't systematically lighting fires. And so what we have started to roll out is the 1% monthly newsletter where we're taking features from our community and writing about them, where we're taking ideas and distributing them. And in time, we're rolling out the 1% box, which would be every month we're taking books, brands, ideas, and packaging them together and shipping them out to thousands of entrepreneurs. So if you've got an idea that you want to bring to capitalism.com we can ship that out to thousands of influential people around the world.
We can ship that out, send it to people who are investors, who are connectors, who have followings, and we now light that folks fire by just including you in our monthly program. That's fun. That's cool, right? And so we started to build that out, and we're just so jazzed about it because it is the system through which we can do what we do best, which is create content and light fires for entrepreneurs who are building businesses and investing the profits and creating the change they want to see in the world. So this is fun. And so we're learning to replay business in a way that is fun. Not formulaic, not following a plan, but. But fun. Getting paid to build the business that you want and doing it profitably with the people that you want. Which means now, now we turn away clients because we don't want to work with them. You know, we. We only do, you know, we are only doing the things that are. Hell yeses. We've, I've rebuilt the team, and I talked about that in the podcast with C Money, which you can find on here on capitalism.com and it's, you know, us documenting the journey of what is this business. So I think it's really poetic that we can document the story ofcapitalists on capitalism.com including myself, including the founder of capitalism.com so I appreciate you joining me in this journey, and I do feel like at the new beginning, the new budding of at least the next cycle of my career, and I'm just thrilled to have you with me. If you have been following my work since before we wrapped up Freedom Fast Lane, and you're here at the beginning of Freedom Fast Lane, I want to tell you how much I appreciate you and how much I just am so thankful for you and listening to me, you know, go on this journey of entrepreneurship. If you haven't noticed, the podcast has moved now to being what will be an almost daily show. And here we are going, creating the the embers, if you will, for us to light more fires. Because by publishing every day, we can create time slots for the types of content that we want to release on a daily basis or on a weekly basis. So when someone that we really want to get behind needs a platform, we can give them that platform. On capitalism.com I've hired one of the best, one of the best content syndicators in the world. It works now with us at capitalism.com, one of the best copywriters on the planet, now works with us@capitalism.com and the reason for these hires is because now we can distribute a message for both our people and those that we want to support. So when we have somebody who has a really cool business and we want to give them their own time slot here on capitalism.com we're now going to have the ability to do that. And all of this exists so that we can continue to light other fires that create change in the world, which is way more exciting than it being just about me. And I just wanted to give you a peek behind the curtain of what the hell I'm doing and the strategy behind what we're doing. It's all about building these systems to predictably light fires and predictably.
Create that impact that we want to have. And it's going to be way more fun than has been in the past. Oh, one thing you should know, since you're still here and you're an active listener, because you wouldn't listen to 30 minutes of a podcast if you weren't an active listener. Hey, I have learned the dangers of doing things you don't like to do, not doing the things you don't like doing. And.
Yeah, I've learned that lesson a few times, and I think I finally got it. When you do the things you like, life is just easier, right? Because everything that we want to do in the first place is to continue doing what we want, right? So the times that you trade, like, passion for money, you know, you can do that, it's totally fine. But when you get into the habit of pursuing money instead of Passion, it's fine. You just end up giving up the passion part or the fun part, Right? And if you never make that adjustment, you just. You give your life away. Meaning, if you. You know what I'm saying? Anyway, I've learned the lesson of building a business that supports an income rather than supports a lifestyle. And now at the point where I want to build the thing I love doing and let the business support that. And guys, girls, I love talking about politics and religion. Love it. My favorite topics to talk about. And I'm gonna be doing it a lot more. So if that is not your thing, you don't have to listen. But I'm gonna be talking politics and religion a lot, lot more. Both on both in my Facebook lives or.
Or are here on the podcast. By the way, I am doing a lot more live content right now. I'm doing it on Facebook. I'm Ryan Danielmoran on Facebook, but I'm looking for maybe a different platform to do it. Where do you watch live content? Do you watch it on YouTube? Do you watch it on Facebook Live? Would you let me know? Like, I would really, really like to know. I'm doing it on Facebook right now, but I feel like not a lot of people are going there in order to do that intentionally. It's more of an accident. But if you knew that I went live every day at 9am, would you make a point to be there? Or would you rather have that on Periscope or would you rather have that on YouTube? Would you let me know? I'm really actively trying to crack that nut and I would love to spend more time with you in that type of a format. I really enjoy it. I really enjoy doing wine with wine. I really enjoy doing that live format. So if there was a place that I did it, where would you want to see that? Let me know. You can hit me up at. Actually, Twitter would probably be the best place. I'm Ryan Moran or Instagram ryandaniel Moran. So please do hit me up and let me know how you would like to see the live content, because I will make changes based on what the audience wants here. I should send an email to the list and ask people. Anyway, so politics and religion are gonna be coming out of me a lot more, especially on those live formats. So make sure you are. If you want to have that conversation, make sure you subscribe to everything. Everywhere I am, just find me. Okay. Let's bring this baby home. I sure appreciate you and love hanging out with you. We have really cool things coming in the Next couple weeks, we're going to be rolling out the capitalism.com community, which is going to be an online platform, probably on Facebook, just made to be able to facilitate interactions among us entrepreneurs. And and also because I'm looking to come to a city near you. More on that soon, too. All right, that's all. Thanks for watching. Listening, listening. There's no video here. It's good to be back and I love to hear from you. I'm ryanapitalism.com and Ryan Dan. I'm done. Ryandan Moran on most platforms. Appreciate you. Love you. See you on the next episode. There are two kinds of people in this world. There are members and non members. If you are enjoying this stuff, you have got to join us inside the 1%. 1% members get access to our courses on building businesses and investing the profits.
