I'm Carly Hill, therapist turned coach turned CEO of a seven figure online business. I created the Thriving Therapeutic podcast because I'm obsessed with helping big hearted therapists outgrow the office and build successful and sustainable online businesses. So if you are wondering how you can continue to make an impact without sacrificing the life you love, welcome Therapeneur. This is exactly the place for you. Think of it like the business school we never had. I am so excited to dive in with you. Let's get started. I want you to imagine stepping onto a stage, sharing your knowledge with an audience eager to hear your expertise. Or maybe creating your own virtual stage and sharing your knowledge with an audience who's eager to hear your expertise. You walk away and they don't just say thank you, they applause. They tell you, wow, this really hit home with me. Wow, this transformed my life. Imagine this feeling that you're getting all of this feedback from something that you said, Literally just words that came out of your mouth. But it also has the potential to grow your business exponentially. This true win, win, where you're speaking, your words are transforming people's lives, multiple lives at one time. And it's a win for you because you're growing your business, you're making more money, you're impacting more lives. This is so exciting, right? This is what public speaking can do for you. So in today's episode, we're going to talk about how therapists can leverage public speaking to make a larger impact, to tap into the one to many model. So we're breaking out of that one to one impact and we're really scaling our impact and we are tapping into the one to many model that is the foundation and the principles of almost everything that I teach is breaking out of that one to one, leveraging your time and impacting more lives, which in turn is just going to naturally boost your income, which is awesome because we are here to unapologetically make more money. There is nothing wrong with that. We can claim that. And when money is in the hands of good people, good things happen. So we're going to talk about how you can get into public speaking, why it's such a powerful tool, how it can help you grow your business, how it can help you impact more lives. I'm going to give you exact resources and strategies to get started and actually land your first public speaking gig, if this is completely new to you. So I'll give you a sneak peek into my public speaking bundle, which has a ton of resources for you. So buckle up, stay with me, take notes. You're in for another treat. I hope you guys are enjoying listening to these podcast episodes as much as I am enjoying recording them for you. Light bulb moments just come to me and I'm like, oh my gosh, I gotta go record an episode on this for you all. So I love being in your earbuds. I read all of the reviews that you guys publish, so be sure to keep those coming. All right, let's dive in. Why therapists should add public speaking. So first and foremost, it's going to expand your reach. This will allow you to connect with hundreds or even thousands of people in one event versus just one on one sessions. One on one sessions? There's nothing wrong with one on one sessions, but they're kind of old news, right? There's a time and a space and a place for one to one sessions. But if we're talking about scaling, we're talking about outgrowing the office, we're talking about leveraging our time, buying back our freedom, our flexibility, our security, and impacting more lives, we can't do that with one to one sessions. So I love one to one sessions and I still take one to one sessions. Very few in my business I do, but it's kind of like a pop of cash. It's an extra cherry on top to all of the other assets that you can have in your business where you're impacting more lives and it makes your one to one sessions that much more valuable. And people are going to pay you more for one to one time. It's hard to get one to one time with you because everything you do, such as being an author or being a public speaker or being a course creator or being a podcast host, all of this is the one to many model, right? And you're impacting all of these lives at one time. So if they want more of you, they want one to one you, then they're going to pay more for that. Okay? So it becomes extra valuable when you do have one to one sessions and one to many models in your business. So when we're talking about expanding your reach, I mean, this can be conferences, it can be workshops, it can be community events, you could speak at schools. It really just depends who your niche is. But wherever you can get a hub of potential clients together in one room, this is where you want to be. And I'm going to teach you where you can go to find all of these events and get them on your calendar. But there's something beautiful about creating your own stage as well. So you can gather all of these people and create your own stage. For example, a few years ago I was in the shower because that's where the most wonderful thoughts come in, is in the shower. Give me an amen, right? If you have great thoughts in the shower. So anyways, I was in the shower and I was like, wow, I would just love to have more therapist friends. I feel like we need to get together and just inspire one another. I feel like we need to get together and we can discuss strategies where we can beat burnout. I just want to be together in this hub of people who get it. I was doing a lot of networking at the time and I was going to networking events. I was part of, you know, chambers of commerce and I just didn't feel like, well one, it wasn't fun, it was just like another work event. And I also felt like I just didn't vibe with everybody there. Like I need it more people who just got it, who were like me, who were therapists, conscious entrepreneurs, healers, somewhere in this arena. And so I was like, well this doesn't exist in my area in South Florida. I'm going to create it. So I created my own stage and I started these in person events and we started with six therapists and we've been running them for I think over three years now. And they're basically like mini retreats, like we have 40, 50 therapists at every single event. So again, tapping into the one to many model. But if what you want to speak on or the lives that you want to impact, if you can't get in that room because maybe it doesn't exist or it's difficult. Create your own room, create your own stage. That's how powerful you are. Hey there. Did you know we give away one of our incredible digital products every single week? All you have to do is leave a review for the show, then submit proof using the link in the show notes and you'll be entered to win. Prizes include amazing resources like our passive income course, the license protection bundle, top business trainings, my best selling book and so much more. It's super simple and your review helps us reach more listeners just like you. So take a moment to share your thoughts, enter to win and maybe you'll be our next winner. So that's the first thing is expanding your reach. Number two is leveraging your Expertise. You guys are amazing at what you do. You have so much to teach on and I need to remind you of that because I see so often when my clients are going through the therapist to coach accelerator, they think that they don't know enough. But you guys forget that what you know is not common sense to other people. Yes, it's second nature to you. It's been ingrained in you for a long time. I don't know where we store it. Like we just intuitively know what to say in session and what tool to pull out. But you need to leverage your expertise because this, your unique skillset can transform someone's life. It is. Maybe you talk about stress management, mental health in the workplace, parenting strategies. I have lots of mom coaches. Maybe you're a menopause specialist or you are a business coach of some sort. Whoever you are, you are highly sought after. You have a unique skill set and your insights can position you as a thought leader in the space. So we have to highlight your unique skills and leverage your expertise so that you can impact more lives at one time. Which again brings us to the one to many model. We talked about this already, but this allows you to serve more people at once while maintaining the same amount of effort. This is what I want to highlight here. The same amount of effort. So you could spend one hour in a one to one session with someone, or you could spend one hour speaking to 200 people. Think about it, it's just a no brainer, right? How many times have you been in a one to one session with a client and you talked about something similar with three other clients this week and you're almost wondering like did I already have this conversation with you? Like you feel like a broken record and you think, I wish I could have just repeated what I said to that other client and just have this client play it back and listen to it. You can do that and that is quite literally the power of one. Creating courses and having digital products, but also tapping into the one to many model where you don't have to repeat yourself and you don't have to sound like a broken record. You can just say what you want to say to everyone at the same exact time. This is efficiency, this is scalability. This is buying back your freedom while impacting more lives. Now let's talk about money for a second because there's a lot of financial benefits when we talk about public speaking. You can make upwards to $10,000 a speaking gig, I shit you not. So you can start small and you can just get Paid your hourly rate for some small gigs, but I'm talking thousand to five thousand is very, very average. Like this is what people expect for your price, especially being a licensed clinician, you are a professional. So you can get thousands of dollars for this additional income stream when this is something you're probably already passionate about and speaking about and teaching about. So let's then go leverage your time, let's get paid this additional income stream, let's impact more lives. And then we can sell on the back end too, so we can upsell our coaching programs, our courses, our books, we can funnel them into our podcast, whatever ecosystem that you have your public speaking gig or your small little lunch and learn that you did helped you get in front of your ideal client so that you can continue to increase the lifetime value of these paying clients and continue to transform their lives. So the financial benefits are ongoing. It's not just a one and done speaking gig. Once you get in with some of these conferences and corporations, because they usually do events annually, sometimes multiple times a year, they'll invite you to come back. So if you can just land the gig once and also if you can land the gig on, you know, a state level, then you can take it national. Once you have some street cred that you have been speaking in the state, you can take it to their national level. So there's so many benefits when it comes to public speaking. Now that you know that you're probably like, okay, Carly, well, how do I get started? If I'm, if I'm going to do the damn thing and I'm going to become a public speaker, where do I start? So the first thing you want to do is define your topic. You need to decide who's the audience you're going to be speaking to, what problems are you going to be solving for them? What problems are you uniquely equipped to solve for them? So think about your niche. Are you a burnout prevention professional? Are you a relationship coach? Are you parenting neurodivergent children and you're helping the parents of these children who have adhd? Who are you? Who are you helping? What problem are you solving? From there you can build your speaker kit. So this is something that I include in my public speaking bundle. I actually give you a pitch kit where once you find these corporations or conferences or gigs that you want to speak to, and I teach you how to find them, I teach you actually how to get 200 of them on your Google calendar a month that you could choose from and reach out to once you have them and you want to reach out to them. Your speaker kit and your pitch kit is going to be how you're going to land the deal. So it's going to include your speaker bio, suggested topics, your pricing guide, your testimonials. If you have spoken at previous events. I give you copy and paste templates for this. I have AI prompts so you can bang this out faster. I have the contract. So when you, when they approve your media kit, your speaker kit, and they're like, oh yes, we are ready to hire you, I give you the contract that you can send them. So opportunities are endless for you. Start small, maybe with just like local opportunities. Get your feet wet. Especially if public speaking is something that's scary to you. This is most people's number one fear is public speaking. I mean there's a huge fear around public speaking. So just get your feet wet, even if it's for free. Like community centers, schools, small conferences. Maybe you just start with social media and just decide to do like a live stream and you're not actually in front of like real human beings in person. It's just virtual. Maybe that would be easier for you. Start small somehow. Practice engaging your throat chakra and building confidence and credibility and then we can take it bigger from there and start landing these thousand dollars events. I also have a pricing guide. I know I gave you quite a large range saying anywhere from like free to $10,000, but I have a pricing guide in all the public speaking kit that I give you, the bundle that I give you that will help guide you through this process. So when we talk about the logistics of public speaking, we have pitching to events. So you need to customize your pitch for each audience. This is really important and you're going to highlight your unique values. So we need to know your niche, we need to know your audience, we need to know the problem that you're solving. Then we need to prepare your presentation. So what are you actually going to talk on? How long is it going to be? How are you going to engage people? How are you going to memorize this? And then we have our contract. So we're talking about our speaker agreement, our legal protections. That's easy peasy. I give that to you. So in a nutshell, public speaking is a fabulous way to outgrow the office, make more money, most importantly impact more lives. Because you're tapping into that one to many model. It is not as hard as we think it is. Like it's this big kind of like ambiguous thing. I feel like to start becoming a Public speaker. At least that's how I felt a few years ago, which is why I took a public speaking course. And I learned most of this that I am sharing with you these tidbits today. But the pricing guide, the contract, the pitch kit, how to land all of these gigs, these are all things that I have learned through mentorship and investing in the process of becoming a professional public speaker. And I'm sharing all of that with you because that is exactly what I do with everything that I learn. If you have not already caught onto that, I do not gatekeep. Literally everything that I learned that I am constantly learning and evolving in this space, I share with you guys. So check out the show notes. There's tons of resources for you when it comes to public speaking. It doesn't have to be that hard. I want to remind you again that you know so much. You have a powerful story to tell. You have unique expertise. You can overcome stage fright. We can prepare, we can, we can practice. You can focus. You can create your own stage. You can create a larger impact.
