Sacred Soul Aligned Selling: Redefine Selling to Align with Your Soul's Mission [Ep 28]
15 Jan 2025 · 18 min
Carly Hill (host of the Thriving Therapyneur podcast) presents the concept of "Sacred Soul Aligned Selling" for therapists moving into coaching: selling as an ethical, service-oriented act that aligns with one's soul mission and passion meeting others' needs. Key points: abundance is a natural outcome of following your purpose; authentic voice and content build relationships and trust (the "energetic algorithm"); selling is persuasion (helping clients make decisions they already desire) not convincing; money is an energy exchange and a sign of commitment. Practical guidance includes using your voice unapologetically, setting intentions/co-creating with the universe, avoiding comparison, sharing stories/testimonials, offering consultations without pressure, and inviting listeners to the Therapist to Coach Accelerator program for further training.

Welcome to the Thriving therapyneur podcast. The show for ambitious therapists who are ready to unapologetically make more money, scale their impact and build their dream coaching business. I'm Carly Hill, therapist turned coach turned CEO of a seven figure online business. I created the Thriving Therapeutic podcast because I'm obsessed with helping big hearted therapists outgrow the office and build successful and sustainable online businesses. So if you are wondering how you can continue to make an impact without sacrificing the life you love, welcome Therapreneur. This is exactly the place for you. Think of it like the business school we never had. I am so excited to dive in with you. Let's get started. Hello my therapreneurs. I have a wonderful topic for you all today and it's all about selling. But this is what I like to call sell Sacred Soul aligned selling. So I actually have this training inside my therapist to coach accelerator course twice because my clients told me to put it in there twice. They're like, carly, I wish I would have watched this earlier. So I'm just gonna shed some light on a high level overview of how I define selling. Why I call it Sacred Soul aligned selling. Because a request that I got for podcasts. Hey, Carly, can you talk about being salesy and how can we sell in a way that feels authentic to us? And I was like, oh, do I have something for you. This is one of my favorite things to talk about. And I feel like I say this in every, every episode. This is one of my favorite things to talk about. But everything that I talk about on this show is one of my favorite things to talk about, where I have so much to say. I could just go on and on and on and on. So which is why I created this podcast, because I have a book and I couldn't condense it all into my book. So Sacred Soul align selling. Hear me out when I say we are all here to serve in one way or another. Agreed. Right. So to help each other out, to unite on a spiritual level, I would say to walk each other home. When I read a quote that said, we're all just here to walk each other home, it felt like a warm blanket around me. I was like, wow. Like, yes. And our soul equals the core of our being. At the core of our being is our mission. So your mission, your purpose, equals your passion. Met with the needs of others. Because we're all here to serve in one way or another. So your mission and your purpose, it equals your passion. So it's your passion plus the needs of others. That's what you're meant to do here on this earth. That's how I describe what Sacred Soul Aligned selling is. Because abundance is your birthright. If you follow your desire, you follow your purpose. Meaning you wouldn't have these desires in your heart to begin with. It wouldn't have been created as part of you if you weren't supposed to receive abundance for it. When I say abundance, I don't just mean money. It don't just mean money. Abundance comes in many forms. Freedom, relationships, opportunities, flexibility. So Sacred Soul aligned selling is about sharing what you have to offer unapologetically and without any filter. It's pursuing your soul's mission relentlessly, knowing it's going to help so many people because we're all just here to unite and walk each other home. It's your passion met with other people's needs. It's going to help so many people. So you don't need to feel weird or guilty or I hate the word salesy about completing and following through on your massive soul's mission. You're sharing your genius. You aren't selling shit. You can't put a price tag on your genius. It's priceless. But money's just an energy exchange. We do live in a 3D world. We have a life to live. So you're gonna put a price tag on it. But your intention is not to quote unquote sell. Your intention is to inspire, to heal, to bring hope, to transform lives. It's to complete your soul's mission and to be a heart centered leader. I know this about you and I may not even know you. You became a therapist for a deeper reason. It's not just to sell things. Selling is the byproduct and it sounds so cliche. But the best business advice I can give you is just to be you. Trying to replicate how other people do business like this isn't going to lead you down the path of abundance. So I do think it's important to learn proven strategies that work. But it's more important that you do it in a way that feels good to you. So give yourself a big fat permission slip to just be you and honor all parts of you not getting caught up in all of this comparisonitis. It doesn't matter how cool you look on social media, how pretty your stuff is, that so and so stuff is perfect or they have so much of it or they have so many followers. What's more important than all of that is you being authentic and you getting your energy across energy is what's going to sell confidence, conviction, connecting with your ideal client emotionally. That's it. It's the energetic algorithm. It's not about again the vanity metrics, the followers likes, comments. It's about your voice, it's about relationships, it's about trust. Those are the things that are going to help you attract your soul aligned community. A soul aligned community specifically curated with intention. This is forever going to be so much bigger than your follower count. So your voice is your content. I teach so much about content, but I found myself the other day telling my clients like forget everything I teach you and that sounds funny but I need you to come back to yourself for a second. I need you to come back to your why. I need you to come back to your soul's mission. So content is important and there's a million different strategies we can teach on content. But what content is in a nutshell is your voice and content. Your voice is how you're going to build relationships and relationships is going to build trust and trust is going to bring in your soulmate clients. So the very first part of the formula is your voice. Hello throat chakra stuff. Okay. Your soul is a co creation with the universe, whatever that is for you, God, spirit, universe, whatever you say, it's supposed to come through you, quite literally through you. So when you go to create content, when you go to use your voice so that you can build relationships that build trust, you can set an intention that's like okay, universe, spirit, God, whatever you believe, please have this reach who it needs to reach. Please have me share this in the way that you want me to. Please speak through me. Please allow my truth and energy to come through me. Please have this capture their attention. When you have the thoughts that people are going to judge you, people are going to think you're crazy. Maybe you should delete this post. Maybe you shouldn't post it. Maybe you should only post a certain part of it. Don't just say what's on your heart, just post the freaking post. You are doing your people disservice. Your true people, the people who are supposed to work with you, the people who vibe with you, the true you, you legit won't reach them all because you worried about what someone else would think of you. And that's how you become a best kept secret. And I want all of my clients to become a well known expert. Not a best kept secret. I always say it's like you're being an energetic cock block and you're stopping the clients who are supposed to reach you. Instead you have to imagine like you're meeting the universe halfway, just like you were if you were dating. You can't expect the person to show up in your driveway. You have to put yourself out there. So you need to do your job of using your voice, your authentic voice, putting yourself out there and then letting the universe help you with who it reaches, with setting that beautiful intention and allowing the co creation to come through you. So when we talk about all of these things, see how far away we're getting from selling, we're really, really, really leading with service. And money is a magnifier. When we can lead with service and our energy comes through, then our ideal clients are just going to flock to us. It's the energetic algorithm. Haters are always going to exist, okay? There's no doubt about that. And it is okay to repel people. You're just saving space, you're just making room for the people who truly do want to work with you. So really staying focused on your mission. Your haters don't need to know your mission, they don't even need to understand it. But you need to stay focused on it. I would say bye Felicia to the keyboard warriors. So if someone is truly happy, content with their life, their business, they're not going to go out of their way to say something negative about you. Another thing I hear very often when the topic of being salesy comes up is, well, Carly, I don't want to convince anybody to do something. And I agree with you. Convincing is being salesy. Convincing is yuck. Convincing is not true selling. Selling is persuasion. Convincing and persuasion are polar opposites. Convincing is when I attempt to get you to do something that would benefit me. So it's all about me. This is salesy, AKA slimy, AKA all the get rich quick schemes online right now. That's convincing. It's all about me. Persuasion, on the other hand, which is true selling, which is no bull selling. Persuasion is when I help you make a decision you already desire to make for your own benefit. It's in your best interest and you probably knew you wanted to make it already. Persuasion is selling. This is why people love to be sold to, but they hate to be convinced. This exact reason because the difference between persuasion and convincing, Think about anything that you bought recently that felt good to you to buy it, you were sold to because it was something that you had a desire for that you kind of already made up in your mind. You had this decision in your mind and it was for your own benefit. But Somebody just helped you make that informed decision for your own benefit. They didn't convince you because it was just going to help them. You were sold to and you liked it. But we don't like to be convinced. So if you have something valuable to offer, you have a moral obligation to share it. And I get it. Let's be real. Selling can feel uncomfortable, especially for us. In the helping professions. We're used to serving, listening, healing, not pitching or promoting. But the truth is, selling is serving. All I've been doing in this episode is constant reframes for you. When you sell the right way, you're offering people an opportunity to change their lives. And that is so incredibly powerful. Like I said, it's priceless. So I would encourage you to just delete the word salesy from your vocabulary. And anytime you catch yourself slipping into feeling like you're being ick in some way or you don't want to convince someone, I need you to pay attention to the story that you're telling yourself. And I need you to maybe come back to this episode, but more importantly, come back to your why and your soul's mission and remind yourself that that's just a story you're telling yourself. And you're really not convincing anybody to do anything. You're really here to just shed light on, hey, this is how I can help you transform your life. And if you would like to transform your life and I'm the vibe for you, then come on in. It's a reframe here. Okay? Nobody's born with sales skills. It can be learned. You're not going to come across as pushy. They're not going to think you're greedy. You're not going to sound like a car salesman. Selling can be very sexy. It is, like I said earlier, a noble profession. It is persuasion. Again, it's not convincing. If you have felt any of these thoughts that you don't want to come across as pushy, like you're not alone, but selling isn't about you and stop making it about you. If you're so afraid that you're going to be salesy, you're making it about you. You're coming at this whole selling thing from an egotistical standpoint. And I say that with love, to just check you and tell you to delete salesy from your vocabulary, because it's not about you, it's about them. And again, you're doing your people a disservice if you're afraid to say what you truly want to say, which could Quite literally transform their lives in the next three months, you're doing them a disservice. So it's about giving somebody the chance to solve a problem, to achieve a goal, to feel supported in a way that they could not do on their own. It's a simple invitation that they can take or leave because they're grown adults and they can make an informed decision. But your job is to give them all of the information possible so that we could come to a decision together. So instead of thinking that you're just selling something, think about how you're offering solutions to someone's problem. You're offering the most beautiful invitation to transform their life. You're offering a bridge between where your client is and where they want to be. That's awesome. That's what true selling is. Selling is serving. When you share your offer, you're just creating opportunities. You're creating opportunities for them to change their life, to make this world a better place. And if you don't share it, you're doing them a disservice. And not everyone's ready to invest, and that's okay. And a no today doesn't mean a no for forever. And a no is very common. Rejection is part of it. It's still an opportunity to plant a seed and build trust for the future. Selling isn't about pressure. It's about presenting. You're not forcing anyone. You're simply showing them this is what's possible. And again, you're letting them decide instead of just projecting your insecurities and fears on them. That would be unfair. So often I see people not even offering consultation calls because they're assuming that they can't afford it. I'm like, you just decide it for your ideal client, who you know nothing about, that they can't afford it. You just project it, your money insecurities onto them. And maybe it's uncomfortable for you to talk about money. And this is where some of this salesy stuff is coming into play. But money's just a resource. It's just an energetic exchange. Investing is a sign of commitment. When someone pays for your services, they're saying, hey, I'm serious about making a change. Talking about money isn't greedy. It's necessary to create transformation. It is an energy exchange. People don't buy programs, they buy solutions. So when you're selling, you need to speak to what your audience is experiencing and connecting with them emotionally. Again, leading with service, leading with empathy, leading with connection, letting them know that you understand their struggles and what you have to offer is designed to help you share stories. You share testimonials. If you are your own ideal client, you share your story. Story sells. It's a beautiful way to sell and we welcome in easy yeses. We're just removing barriers. We're inviting them to go deeper, inviting them to go to the next step. That's all selling is. So I hope this episode has helped you see selling in a new light.
