When you've had a bad day, you're likely to snap at family because they feel safe. But venting on loved ones repeatedly damages them. Instead, talk through what happened and ask for feedback so you can address the real problem with the person who caused it.
Chapters
You had a bad day, so you go home and you take it out on your family. Now, whether it was traffic or work or somebody said something or sent you something or did something or failed to do something, why do you not take it out on the people who caused the problem? Why do you take it out on your family? I'll tell you why. Because that's your safe space. Because you feel safe enough to take it out on the people who you trust to still be there. But how long can you continue doing that? See, the reality is, instead of taking it out on people, you can vent to them. You can share with them. You can talk with them. Can work through it with them, but don't make them your punching bag. Make them your sounding board and allow them to give you feedback and maybe help you handle it better next time so that the next time it happens, you can address it with the person who caused the bad day in the first place.
