Watch my Wash & Go

A wash-and-go routine for curly hair using co-wash instead of shampoo. She applies leave-in conditioner until you see white bubbly lines for full coverage, then plops the hair for 10-15 minutes. Warm water for washing, cooler water for rinsing keeps frizz down.

Hi, guys. Today I'm going to show you how to do your final wash. I thought, what better way to show you than physically do it? So I won't be using the Whoops today because I don't need to wash anything out because I haven't put anything in my hair. So what will you do first is just shampoo your hair as normal with the Whoops. I've got everything I need here to do my hair, so have co wash, leave in and style it. You'll start with using the Whoops, but I'm going to skip straight to the co wash. So I'm in my hand. I always do my roots first. It's essential you use scalp massager. We're not using shampoo, so it takes a little bit more work just to make sure you've got a healthy scalp. Plus it doubles up as a detangler as well. Little bit more and put that through the mids and the ends. That's effectively your new way of shampooing. So make sure you rinse all of your co wash out thoroughly. Next step, your leave in conditioner. To get great curls. You really want to make sure you've got an even distribution. So I'll show you how I do that. I've got long, long hair, so I use two big blobs. And detangle. I've already done my scalp with the scalp massager, so my hair's detangled to about there, so I'll just go from the ends. The longer you co wash, the better condition your hair gets in so you have more moisture. It makes brushing and combing your hair so much easier, but it does take a little bit of time to get that moisture in. Right, that's lovely. I'm going to see if I can show you on camera what you're looking for. So you're looking for like the white bubbly lines. Can you see that? You can certainly hear it. So you have all the white bubbles. Then you know that you've definitely distributed it really, really evenly. That means every hair is coated and that stops areas of frizz. Next up, you've got your stylet. There's about that amount moving it between the two hands. I just brush the front, the sides, the back. You want it in evenly, so you need to go through the middle and do it with your palm flat. So it does actually get hair gel on. Now, I don't like the crunch. Don't like it when you have that crunch to your hair. Some people love it and they use an oil then to scrunch out the crunch. I don't. I prefer to skip that. And therefore I then put another load of leave in over the top of the stylet. That way I know that I won't get crunch, but I'll get good definition and good hold. So you've done that. You just comb through to encourage those curl clumps. That way you don't have any separate hair. See, they all go together, so you haven't got any frizzies in there. Then using your hair turban, the fat bit at the end, making sort of a bowl shape, you place all your hair into there, push onto your forehead, wrap it around behind your neck, Grab the hook, put it on the button. There we are. Now I'll plop, which is what we've done right now by putting the hair turban on for as long as it normally takes me to do my makeup. I've already done the school run this morning, so I left my hair wash so I could show you guys. So plop for about 10 to 15 minutes. Another thing that's really important is once you take your plop off, whether you decide to keep it on longer, air dry or diffuse, try not to play with your hair. So when I air dry my hair, I'll even put a tea towel around my neck and just leave it to air dry. I don't touch it. I certainly don't squish any moisture out of it because if you do that, it'll create frizz from the bottom. So that's a really good tip. Also, the temperature of the water, when you're co washing, you want it warmer. And then when you're doing any leave in or anything after that, if you need to add any more water to your hair, make sure it's cool water or cooler. You want the warm water to wash your hair when you're doing your co washing and scrubbing and detangling. When you go to rinse, warm and a bit cooler and that will delay frizz. So that's really helpful. Okay, hope that helped. See you guys soon.
