The Longevity Stack Joe Rogan Takes To Stay Healthy

Dr. Charles Pereyra breaks down Joe Rogan's supplement and hormone regimen, from testosterone replacement and HGH to peptides like BPC-157 and NAD+ boosters. He explains the science behind each, notes which lack large clinical trials, and stresses the need for blood work and medical supervision.

Hi, Dr. Charles here, and a lot of people are talking about Joe Rogan's publicly released quote-unquote stack of supplements, of hormone replacement, and what he's actually doing for his health. I'm going to give you my personal physician's review of what I think of the stack and what that could mean for men. As a disclaimer, I am a board-certified medical doctor and member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons, but I am not giving any medical advice. This is strictly educational. If you want to learn more from this advice, just talk to your doctor about it. Joe, what's everything you take?
Everything, everything.
That was sexual.
Most of it, most of it is like the, the big results come from testosterone replacement.
Let's jump right in and talk about the most common thing, which everyone knows he's taking TRT, or hormone replacement of testosterone. Now he's doing weekly injections of this monitored by a physician, and the main reason for this is to maintain and even increase strength and increase your body's desirable composition. So increasing that lean muscle mass. I actually do agree a lot with this for men with lower testosterone. There are a ton of things in the environment— call it microplastics, foods, things that we drink in our water— that can reduce our testosterone. In fact, male testosterone, in my opinion, is at an all-time low, and there are many physicians who share that opinion with me. So I definitely agree with this, and the main reason I do agree with this is because muscle mass has shown to be a predictor of about a 200% decrease of morbidity mortality, meaning the more lean muscle mass you have, the longer you're likely to live and the healthier you're likely to live. Shout out for spreading the word on TRT, Mr. Rogan. I'm about it. I was telling you earlier, like, I'm down to start like cycling or something like that, or HGH or whatever.
I heard if you do a little bit of the HGH, it's kind of fine. Yes, that's exactly what you want. You want like 1 unit. That's what I take. I take like 1 unit a day.
So human growth hormone is something that can actually help your body to grow quicker, right? There's a lot of it when we're younger, and it kind of can wane off as we older and fluctuates at certain times of day. What he's using is what's called pharmaceutical HGH. There's a number of different types of human growth hormone. So there's the actual HGH, which you can inject, and then there's analogs like Somorlin or Epimorlin. And now what these do is actually stimulate in the brain the production of this molecule at a higher point in the pathway. So I actually like this as well for people who are aging over 40. It can aid in a number of repair processes. The only caveat here is I would make sure you have a full blood screening and get seen by a board-certified physician to make sure you you don't have any incidences of cancer or any likelihood of cancer forming. But I do like human growth hormone, again, for increasing your muscle mass, but also for repair and overall longevity.
And then there's peptides that increase your body's ability to grow, uh, hormones like growth hormone. There's, uh, yeah, there's BPC-157, and there's another thing. Now what, dummy?
Ipamoralin.
You've Googled.
So now on to the peptides everyone is talking about, namely BP-157 and TB-500, which have been mentioned on a ton of the podcasts about using it for injury recovery and repair in general. So if you live a very active lifestyle, you probably have a lot of little nagging pains and injuries and inflammation. And there's been some really cool case reports across the board. It's something I played with myself. BP-157 can help to decrease the inflammatory response, which can help your injuries to heal quicker. Again, there's yet to be a large randomized double-blind placebo-controlled study on this, but based on what I'm hearing, it seems incredibly beneficial. It seems to have been around for a while too. So in my opinion, I find BP-157 and TB-500 to likely be relatively safe.
I'm so shocked that you only drink one cup of coffee a day with that kind of schedule. Uh, well, so the NMN is good. Um, do you take NAD in an IV form?
No.
No, I've, I haven't, but I've talked to many people that have. I've been scheduling it or wanting to schedule it, putting it off for weeks, but, uh, I'm going to do that soon because I just know too many people that have had extreme benefits from it. Listen, keep me, uh, keep me in the loop. I want to know what's going on, and I'm going to try all these things that you said. So I'm going to go out, I'm going to buy some NMN.
So next is a real big one, NAD therapy or NMN. So these two molecules are actually the same derivatives of each other. You actually can only have the cell enter this cofactor factor as NMN and not NAD+. So it needs to be converted from NAD+ to NMN to enter the cell. But NMN is really cool and actually can be taken orally. I happen to believe that if you take this orally, the bioavailability is pretty similar if you take the correct dose, and NMN goes directly into the cells. Now, why is this beneficial? It acts as a cofactor and a precursor to many cellular processes that contribute to energy in the body, particularly mitochondrial health, which is known as the powerhouse of the cell, right? Every cell has a little mitochondria in it, and that is responsible for energy production. And it does by producing something called ATP. Now, if you're producing ATP, you need a special cofactor to be able to produce enough of it, and that is NMN or NAD+. And so I think this is an incredible supplement. There is such thing as too much of a good thing here. There have been reports of having too much NAD+ or NMN in your system actually causing harmful effects on longevity. But ultimately, I think if you supplement this outright and you have your on/off cycles and amended NAD+, this could be something incredibly beneficial, especially for energy and fatigue. And so I'm not going to go into every little detail of exactly what he's using in the rest of his stack, but I will talk about a few things that he has mentioned before and go into it on another video. Those are metformin, sauna, vitamin D3 and K2, fish oils, lion's mane, cordyceps, alpha-GPC, creatine, high-dose omega-3s, glutathione ADs, and of course stem cell and exosome therapy, which he has mentioned using a ton of times. So wish I did cover everything in this video, but if you want to learn more, click the first link in the description. Or if you want to learn more about these kind of therapies, there should be another video video popping up on screen now, so click the link. We'll see you soon.
