Merry Christmas! (and a bonus video just for you)

This is a YouTube video titled "Merry Christmas! (and a bonus video just for you)" published on January 9, 2024, containing a monologue-style advice session focused on communication strategies and practitioner mindset. The speaker discusses how to appropriately probe patients to uncover their underlying desires, using the social style model to differentiate approaches for different personality types, particularly contrasting 'driver' and 'amiable' styles. The content is educational and aimed at practitioners, with additional information about a membership tribe and pricing changes.
When should you dig and when should you not dig when trying to find out your patient's real underlying desires? Now, this is a question that came up in a drop in call recently for members of the Patient Centered Tribe. And speaking of that, before we get into where you should dig and where you shouldn't dig, I want to talk briefly about what's happening with the tribe because many of you may remember that when I launched the tribe a couple of months ago, originally there was going to be a regular price and then a discount for new graduates. But I decided at the start, because I know that there are experienced practitioners who are struggling right now as well, that I was just going to launch it for the new graduate price of just 97 pounds a month for everybody. And that's what it's been available for all this time. It will be going up in January, so that launch offer will be going away and from January it will be double the price. It'll be 197 pounds per month. There will still be some new graduate slots available, there'll be more limited, but the price will be going up. I wanted to mention that now I haven't decided the exact date, but it will happen in January and I want to let you know because anyone who gets the way to connect with them, the driver wants results and efficiency. The amiable wants to feel like you really know and understand them. They really value empathy in a way that the drivers often don't. So much that. And with an amiable site I will absolutely dig because the more interest I show into their experience, the more interest I show about what this is doing for them, the impact it's having on their life, how much they're struggling with this, the more they're going to trust me and open up, the more they're going to feel like they're in the hands of somebody who really cares and that matters so much more to the amiable style. So give this a try with your patients. If you have someone who seems very abrupt, very direct, you know, the stereotypical like CEO, that it's not exactly accurate, but that's the stereotype that somebody I would find the goal and I go with it and I may dig later on, but it's only once I built the trust. Once they see we're getting results several sessions down the line, contrast that with the amiable style, the slower, the softly spoken seem a bit more introverted, I'm going to dig a little bit more because they're going to really value and appreciate and you'll see when you take that interest, they really kind of light up. They're like, oh, wow, this person really cares. So give that a try with your patients. If you're not sure how far to dig or not, then that can be really, really helpful. And like I said, if you did want to take advantage of his launch price with the tribe, I'll pop the link below. It's going to be going away soon. It's a matter of weeks, really, because by the end of January, it'll be back to the regular price. So hope that's helpful for you. Hope you've had a lovely Christmas as well. I'm probably going to put this out between Christmas and New Year. I'm recording it early so I can take some time. But if it's after Christmas, I hope you had a lovely time. If it's before, hope you do have a good, great Christmas and I look forward to seeing you more in January. Take everyone sport. Do they want to go to the gym? Because that's their, like, that's their me time. That's where they're not bothered by anybody. Do they want to go in because they want to lose weight? Are they worried about health issues in the future? You can dig a little bit deeper and even when you dig deeper, you can go further still. If somebody wants to lose weight, is that because they want to start dating again and they want to get, you know, they want to feel more confident about themselves? Are they worried their spouse no longer finds them attractive? Are they worried about the health implications, whatever it might be? You can dig deeper and find out, well, why is this important to them? What is the problem with not being able to do this thing? So we can go several layers at a time. However, this member had quite rightly spotted that you don't always want to dig. It's a little bit of an R. And they were wondering, sometimes I feel like I haven't dug enough. Sometimes I feel like if I dig any more, it's going to annoy the patient. How do I know? Now, to answer this question, the best approach I found is the social style model. And this isn't a video to pitch it. I know, I've talked about that recently. It's one of the courses within the trial. However, it's the best way I found to really identify patients who respond to specific strategies. And just to give you a little hint now, because I can't teach you the whole course, but the biggest difference for this is in the driver versus the amiable style. They are opposing styles and they often clash because they have very different needs and preferences. Now, the driver style, this is a situation where I wouldn't dig. If I have somebody who comes in and seems driver style, they're usually quite fast paced, quite abrupt, quite intense. You know, they can seem impatient, they can seem direct to the point of being rude. You know, they are all about, I want results and I want results. Now they want a quick fix. I don't dig into their goals. I find the goal, let's get you back to the gym. But then I stop because if I start digging more and more with them, what's going to happen is they're going to start to pull back. They're going to go, hang on a minute. Like, I feel like I'm being interrogated here. Or this seems like a psychotherapy appointment. Like they're going to pull back. I just want to get back to the gym. Let's crack on with that. They want efficiency and they want results. As soon as. And anything that I'm asking about that doesn't seem related is going to start to confuse and frustrate. So with a driver style, I wouldn't do that. Contrast that with the amiable style. The amiable style, I absolutely dig into it. This is somebody where I will go into the more of the emotional impact I'll go into, you know, the reason why they want to.
