What Video Gear Do I Use For Recording & Zoom

Three pieces of gear for better Zoom calls: Raylon LED panels ($60) for lighting, Audio-Technica ATR2100X microphone ($100) for clear audio, and Logitech C930e webcam ($120) for video. All plug-and-play, no extra processing needed.

A critical element of the recession response has been the virtualization of business. You're probably doing more online presentations and meetings than ever before. And I've presented some of my gear, but I want to show you the 3 critical elements. And you can see I'm also exploring stuff. So here's my setup for my desk, but it can get overwhelming. And I'm actually experimenting with a drop mic and some other things right now. But I want to show you the 3 things that you must have. First of all is lighting. You need to get something that lights your face so you can be seen and you don't get blurred out in the background. In fact, I have my overhead light on and turn it off cuz when I'm broadcasting I would, so you don't get that glare of my shoulder. And that's kind of the lighting you get.
If you look at the screen, um, without that light beam from there, you'll see that's the lighting you get where you see me there. So the lighting I use, I use this thing called, uh, Raylon. Can you see that? I hope so. Uh, Raylon LED lights. They're $60. Make sure you get them with either desk mounts or standing mounts. I have mine attached to my desk down there, if you can see that. The second element I want to show you that's absolutely critical is the microphone itself. For $100, I got the ATR2100X mic. It even comes with a sound guard like that, or a pop screen, or whatever they call that. But what's so great about this microphone is the quality of the audio.
For a USB mic is pretty exceptional. You don't need a compressor, all this different gadgets. You plug it right in. You probably wanna get an arm for it, but it is really a high-quality mic for a very low cost point.
And the last element is I have a Logitech C930e. That's this camera right up here. And what's so great about that camera is it's wide angle, so you can be very close to it. I'm probably about a foot and a half away from it right now. Maybe 2 feet, and that's the kind of clarity you get.
And it's very inexpensive also. It, it costs, I think, around $120 or not even. So those are the 3 elements. Light yourself properly. I would get LED panels, get an excellent microphone. That's absolutely critical. And then get a high quality, uh, camera, web camera like the Logitech, and you'll do pretty darn well. Those 3 elements, and I would say you're off to the races. And probably superior to what most people are doing. Hope that helps. For more tips like this, go to recessionresponse.com.
