A physical therapist and MACI patient discuss how a recovery app helped track progress and connect with others healing from the procedure. The patient stayed optimistic early on by logging wins and watching videos of people at different recovery stages, which built community and kept doubt at bay.
There's actually an app that goes along with the MACI procedure. And so you can track your progress, you can document how you're doing. I did that at the very beginning and that kind of kept my mentals going and positive. And then it would also give you different videos of people who were in different phases of the recovery process. You could watch what they're doing, kind of like a community board in a sense. So I thought that was really nice, especially like I said at the beginning.
Yeah, let's talk about the mental component. Because as, you know, a physical therapist, I get lots of questions about, you know, I have this pain now, did I do something wrong? It's always hard for us to answer those questions. That, you know, sometimes that's just the nature of the beast of healing. You can have all different aches and pains, and sometimes for no rhyme or reason. So how much were you in your head, would you say?
At the beginning, I wasn't as much in my head. I said, this is going to be great. And it's great.
