Peripheral nerves regenerate at about one millimeter per day, but speed varies with injury severity, age, health, and diabetes. Injuries near the hand or foot recover differently than those higher up the nerve.
That's the good news is that most of the time the nerve can regenerate. It just is slow. It's something like a millimeter per day given the right environment. So there's a lot of variables to that too, such as the severity of the injury, your age, your health. Do you have diabetes? Diabetes slows down everything. So there's a lot of variables to how fast it grows back, but at best, roughly 1 millimeter per day. And by the way, that's why an injury like near the hand or foot may recover differently from injury occurring much higher up the ladder.
