Anuj Balikar, Senior Research Manager at IDC, argues that Asia-Pacific healthcare will be transformed by aging populations, chronic disease, AI adoption, and digital ecosystems. The region's next challenge is connecting data, clinicians, technology, and communities to measure success by healthy years lived, not service volume.
Chapters
Hi, I am Anuj Balikar, Senior Research Manager at IDC, and one of the co-authors of this upcoming book. I'm excited to contribute a chapter in this book that explores the future of Asia-Pacific healthcare, focusing on digital ecosystems, care access, and the growing role of AI in shaping healthcare systems across the region. In this chapter, I begin with a deeply personal story that shows how care can fail when it ends at discharge. From there, I explore why Asia-Pacific is becoming a key region in healthcare transformation, where aging populations, chronic diseases, AI, and digital ecosystems are converging. My key message is simple: in this era of maturing AI, the future of healthcare will be defined not by how many services we deliver, but how intelligently we connect data, clinicians, technology, and communities to promise healthy years of life. If we get this right, Asia Pacific can offer, offer the world a blueprint for more connected and outcome-based care. Thank you.
