Hello and welcome to the Longevity and Lifestyle Podcast. I'm Claudia von Boeselager, your host and founder. It is an honor and pleasure to have you here sharing this journey. I wanted to share with you what the Longevity and Lifestyle Podcast stands for, as well as give you a short preview what exciting things we have in store for you in the coming Longevity and Lifestyle Podcast episodes. The Longevity and Lifestyle Podcast was founded with the view to invite pioneers and thought leaders in all things longevity and lifestyle to talk about their groundbreaking work and give us tips, life hacks, routines, best practices, and inspiration to live smarter, as well as to give us the strategies and tools to do so. From optimizing cognition, nutrition, skin health, exercise, sleep, and beauty, to emotional well-being, sustainability, wearables, and personal finances, I dig deep to uncover how we too can optimize for longevity and lifestyle. Why? I believe a fundamental change is occurring to 21st century medicine. Getting to the root cause of issues instead of just temporarily treating the symptom. This includes aging and solving for this, enabling us to be free of many avoidable diseases and pain, live energetic and happier lives, and reach our true potential. By taking more responsibility and proactiveness for our own health, focusing on prevention and addressing the underlying causes of any issues, I firmly believe that this will be a game changer in living more fulfilled lives. Before I dive into the exciting lineup for the first few episodes, let me take a moment to share my personal journey and let you know why your health and well-being matter to me. After trying to manage different health issues over the last years, from chronic fatigue, apparent food allergies, apparent asthma, leaky gut, iron deficiency anemia, chronic sinusitis, and more fun stuff. It all came to a climax climbing the stairs one day feeling completely on empty, like the tank of an empty car, and it wasn't even lunchtime. With a full day ahead and two kids to take care of, I thought, can this really be it? Mid-30s and it's already going downhill? I had always been a very high-energy person with the ability to function well on little sleep in my teens and 20s. I always envisaged myself as the 94-year-old grandmother, like in the movie Studio 54, out dancing late at night. I thought, how could this already be over? And what were the next 40+ years going to look like? This is not how I wanted to be or to live by in any shape or form. Looking for answers, I came across amazing information from pioneering doctors, scientists, biohackers, and specialists that have fixed so many underlying issues that I had, which many a doctor hadn't thought to check or frankly didn't understand. Through my research, testing, and biohacking, I was able to help myself, friends, and family improve the quality of their lives too. Thanks to this passion, the idea for Longevity and Lifestyle was born to help you too, dear audience, in optimizing yourself to thrive not survive and be the best version of you. So let's choose to live better and optimize for what we have. Let's make the change. And for those of us already on the journey, continue to optimize for a healthy, energetic, exciting life filled with potential. To give you a sneak peek on what's ahead in the upcoming Longevity and Lifestyle podcast episodes, We start the Longevity and Lifestyle podcast series with gut health specialist and data-driven nutritionist with a passion for longevity, Elena Letiagina, founder of Gut Philosophy. This episode is all about the gut, our second brain, and Elena addresses practical ways to improve health and extend lifespan through practical, data-driven gut health. Our second episode is with Dr. Dale Bredesen, Chief Science Officer at Apollo Health and a prodigious innovator in medicine. We dive deep into enhancing cognitive function and how to reverse your risk of developing Alzheimer's disease and reversing it if already on the path. His 30-plus years of medical research have put Dr. Bredesen at the forefront of research into Alzheimer's disease prevention, and memory loss reversal, and have changed our understanding of the fundamental nature and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and cognitive decline at any age. Our third episode is with stem cell biologist and biochemist, Dr. Carolina Rice Oliveira, co-founder and CEO of skin longevity company, OneSkin. OneSkin is a biotech company developing solutions to target skin aging at the molecular level and extend healthy years of life. We cover the importance and correlation of skin inflammation and chronic disease, the surprising truth about retinol, using key peptides to eliminate senescent cells, making you look and feel 10 years younger, understanding skin longevity trends, and much more. In episode 4, I welcome Helen Rivie, co-founder and CCO of Act and Acre and scalp detox specialist. Who would have known our scalp is our second microbiome after our gut, and that almost 50% of adults suffer from scalp-related issues? We discuss what we can do to optimize for better hair health and scalp wellness. We change gears and tackle a rather important issue for happiness in later years in life in episode 5, as we welcome Amanda from the nonprofit Alienated Grandparents Anonymous. Amanda walks us through the complex dynamic regarding grandparent alienation and her work with an international panel of experts to research and find solutions to address this growing phenomenon. We are reminded that our relationships affect our quality of life and contribute to our long-term health and longevity, so are tremendously important. In episode 6, we chat to Isabella Channing, one of the most inspiring wellness professionals I have met. Isabella is a certified jivanmukti yoga instructor, massage therapist, certified health and wellness coach, and the founder of The Shack Yoga, a beautiful transformational and multidisciplinary wellness retreat in Uruguay. Isabella guides us through our inner life and the process to own our well-being. Episode 7 challenges our definition of sustainability and looks at the broad implications and understanding of core issues, avoiding the usual environmental bias towards the subject. In this episode, Marie Kudnek from Goldfinger Design walks us through how perceived progress can actually be regressive and impact communities negatively. We discover how we can use education to mitigate the side effects of the disposable lifestyle we have become accustomed to and how we can apply sustainability in our daily lives for a better planet. Next up for episode 8, I speak with the highly accomplished functional medicine nutritionist Sakiko Roeterskilde, founder of the sumptuous healthy chocolate company Nomosu, or no more sugar. Sakiko gives us insight into how the body metabolizes different types of sugars and its impact on metabolic malfunction. Sakiko also teaches us how we can prevent and reverse insulin resistance and metabolic disease through simple steps and substitutions. I am a student on this journey, and I would be delighted to welcome you to our tribe where we can all learn and thrive together. Let's be the 90-year-old mountain climbers, kite surfers, and late-night partiers having all the fun. If you are ready to join us in this health and longevity journey, don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and tune in for our upcoming episodes. Choose to live well, and thanks so much for listening.
