Shiitake mushrooms are the best choice for immune support. Fry them on high heat to avoid the slimy texture that turns kids off, which concentrates flavor and improves texture. Proper cooking makes them worth eating regularly.

I need to strengthen my immune system, so should I just go and eat tons of mushrooms? What is the protocol? Where should somebody start?
First thing I recommend is put mushrooms into your diet. They're so versatile. You can do so many things with them. If you have children, most children will say, I hate those mushrooms, they're slimy. That's because you haven't cooked them properly. You put them in a pan, you fry them up on low heat, all the water comes right out of them. You have to cook them at high heat. That will keep the water inside them. They'll be half the size when you're finished cooking. Cook them properly. Properly, and you won't have people calling them out as being these slimy things. And the mushroom I would highly recommend is shiitake.
