Hey, hey, hey.
Hey there, everybody. Welcome back to Fraud, Facts and Life Insurance with Agent. We are Betsy and Javon and. All right, we're coming back looking at that fun one case that we left you on the ledge with.
All right, they're nuts. They are nuts.
These people are crazy. All right, so here we go. Let's watch what happens.
A former Blount county insurance agent is in jail tonight. Brett Chappelle, who was employed by Alpha, is charged with insurance fraud, financial exploitation, exploitation of the elderly, and theft by deception. The Alabama Department of Insurance says those charges are connected with activities resulting in $600,000 in losses.
What? 600,000 in losses and he's in jail?
A former Blount county insurance agent is in jail tonight, Brett.
He's in jail tonight. Well, okay, then he. He's in jail. Okay. I mean, look at all those things up against him.
Chappelle, who was employed by Alpha, is charged with insurance fraud, financial exploitation of the elderly, and theft by deception. The Alabama Department of Insurance says those charges are connected with activities resulting in $600,000 in losses.
Whoa, 600,000 in losses. That's a lot. And then, of course, that's with the one that gets us more than anything. When you are financially exploiting the elderly, like, why would you. Why. Why even go there? Like, why go there? That's just low. There's no need to do that. You know, there's just no need.
Yeah, I wish there was more to. But it happens every single day. But if he was on Agent Verified. Just one review. If they typically hide when they're not on av. So, man, please make sure you got some success stories out there from your clients. Please. Jeez Louise.

Just hop on to agentverified.com and you'll be able to see, you know, where that person's licensed, what are their previous client reviews, like, who's worked with them before, what do they have to say? Just making sure that the person that you're working with is verified, you know, with agent verified, licensed, insured and verified so that you're protected no matter what. Especially if you are looking for like final expense or, you know, and you, you fall into that golden years category. Is that a better way to say it? And we, you know, you don't want anyone taking advantage of the finances that you've spent all of your life building up. You want to be able to enjoy your golden years and not have to worry about, okay, now, now someone's come and taken all of that from me. We don't want that to happen. So go home.
I love the sirens are perfectly coming to your neighborhood. Perfectly timed.
I'm always like, what's the best time, what's the best time to do this? I, I mean, we're like right by the downtown street, so we just perfectly timed.
Come get them. So but funny that you mentioned the, you know, senior market, being able to. So if you're like a senior, and I really shouldn't even say senior because this is really for everyone, right? You know, everyone that's involved that needing to get permanent coverage. Right. And more seniors, you know, they have the market called final expense. You know, the final expense market is out there because that's typically the seniors that start to be fearful for, you know, having death conversations. Right. Younger folks tend to not think about the death conversation, so they have a market called final expense where it's really the, the 45, 50 year old and older. So I was able to help our family this week. And she just really wanted to make sure she wasn't going to be cremated, right? She, that was her biggest concern.
Okay.
She didn't want to, just didn't want to be cremated. Nothing fancy. We got her down to literally a scene. All jokes aside was $52 a month and she had a few health concerns and over the phone it was simple. And just to hear her sigh of relief of like, I just don't want to leave that burner with my, with my children and I don't want to be burnt.
That's so real, Spence. Like, that's so real. Yeah, you know, I mean, it's funny to think about. I don't know if it's like a generational thing, but like man might be morbid but like when I think about it, I'm like, yeah, that would probably be the simplest, let's just do that. But I know my parents, they absolutely don't want to do that, you know, and so you just recognize final expense. It's really to take care of the final wishes. And so you want to be able to honor and respect and you know, your parents or whoever like passes in your family. And so she's able to allow them to do that because she put that in place. That's pretty awesome. Looking for more time, more income, and more purpose, the Aloha program is hiring motivated individuals to join our fast growing team of virtual life insurance agents. And then I spoke with her about, because we don't just write the policy and it's just leave it there right then and there. Like after that we, we go a step further and contact her beneficiary, give her the contact info and what have you. And from there that was able to give her daughter peace of mind so that she knows what's in place. And then that opened up a whole new conversation. So that, so that was like, it was nice to talk to her daughter and let her know that mom is making sure that you're not having a bill at the worst time of your life, you know, so that was interesting.
And you've already talked to her, so now she doesn't have to wonder who to call or wonder who to reach out to. Well, I want to, I want to just hone in on. One thing you said too, Spence, is that she had a few health concerns. So I think a lot of people are worried about life insurance because they think, oh, I've got this health issue or that health issue and that I can never get life insurance. So like, what does that look like for you? And Your agents. When you're writing policies, are you able. Are you pretty much able to find it, or are some people not able to get covered? Like, what does that look like?
I know I can cover just about everyone, especially over 50. Everyone over 50. I can cover below 50. Seems to be, you know, if they have something extraordinary. I'm at 95% approval rating, but at least over 50, it's 100% hands down. So we're good there.
All right, well, let's go listen to some ads, and then we'll come back and I'll share some fun things that.
Are happening in the agency. Let's do it.

Go to www.thespencerfinancialgroup.com and see what we're about. Let's build something real.
Real.
All right. Back from paying some bills. All right, so I want to talk about the bar agency or the Aloha Agency, as we love to call it.
No flower today. No flowers episode.
I know. I actually, my flowers all. They all got crumbled in all my travels, so I had to order some more. I know you're devastated, but don't worry, I've got more coming. Okay, so this is pretty cool. So, you know, I've got two kids and Nate and John Allen, and always, you know, telling them about the business. You know, Philip and I, my husband, we want them to, you know, be able to take. Grow into the agency. And so on Sunday, we were coming back from church and we. We got an Uber to come back from church. All right. And the boys got into the car first, and I was, like, saying goodbye to someone or something. And so I got into the car and. And Nate, my older son, was sitting in the front seat and he was praying with the Uber driver. I was like, okay. I mean, this is great. Like, okay, but what's going on? So anyways, listening to his prayer. He's 14 years old, and apparently the Uber driver was needing some additional income, some additional work, right? And so Nate was just, like, saying, you know, just praying that God will provide for this man and his family. So then, you know, they. He finishes the prayer, we start driving home, and then my son goes, well, yeah, my mom has A business and she's hiring. And he was like, oh, really? He's this. This. This big old Hawaiian dude. Oh, really? Tell me about it. So I started talking about the Aloha program and how we help our agents. Like, we, we. We've got leads, we've got support, we've got a CRM, and we've got people that are looking for help. And he was like, yeah, you know, I used to have a life insurance license couple years ago, but, yeah, that sounds very interesting or whatever. So anyway, so now he's been on our overview, and he's joining the Aloha.
Wow. Nate's got his first recruit. Nate, I will make sure your mother. Nate got his first recruit underneath you.
When you get 18.
Right? But you know what I. What I love Spence was hearing him talk about his experience from before. And he and his wife had both done it before, but they hadn't had access. They didn't have access to leads to people that already were looking for insurance. And so they were, you know, just trying to talk to a lot of family and friends and kind of became the people that everyone was running from. But when I told him, like, hey, we've got options for. For you to connect with people that are asking for this type of coverage. And he was like, yeah, because what we can offer is really great. And so I was telling him about, you know, how we have living benefits and it's not just one type of coverage, but we're a broker, so we can look at different carriers, you know, so just realizing what we're able to offer to agents is so. Is so big and valuable because then what they're able to offer to our clients is so valuable. And so he was like, yeah, I know. Me and my wife, we could both do it. And we've got some friends and family that could come and do it. I was like, hey, bring them all. So it was pretty. You know, I'd love to be able to have, like, an office or something here in Hawaii of like, just a whole, whole group of us working together. That's my dream one day. So we'll. We'll see if that ends up happening. But yeah, it was pretty. It was pretty awesome seeing my son come on and. And help me bring someone into the agency. That was pretty.
That's his recruit. I'm sticking to it. That is his recruit.
I'll tell him you're gonna. I'll tell him you'll stick up for it. Pretty awesome. Yeah. So, yeah, if you are, you know, part of why we do this podcast. If you're looking for final expense or if you're looking for a place to hang your hat and, you know, be able to make some additional income and make an impact for families, let us know. We're here. We've got options just for you. All right. But I guess we gotta finish it off with someone that would not be for you.
If you like X individual do not apply.
Stay away.
Do not. That's right. Okay, here we go. Oh, this one is. This one makes me antsy. Okay, here we go.
Tonight, new details in a potential fraud.
Case involving life insurance at a church organization the state is now investigating.
We first told you about an Oklahoma family struggling to bury their loved one because they can't get his life insurance money.
The family claims a religious group is to blame. News force Adria Goins is uncovering more.
Details about this case.
Adria now, we first told you about the Wright family two weeks ago. Angela Wright says after her husband Tommy died in February, she tried to collect on an insurance policy she purchased through Oklahoma Southwest jurisdiction Church of God in Christ. But new documents show the policy was terminated because the church group stopped making payments. And we now know the state insurance Commissioner and the AG's office are joining together to investigate. In these documents obtained by News4, Lincoln Financial claims the church organization purchased a group policy which was terminated on March 31 due to non payment of premiums. The paperwork also states the church group was responsible for paying premiums. Yet Angela Wright says she's been sending checks to the church organization for the past six years. $70 a month you're paying?
Yes.
According to Lincoln Financial, they never received the life insurance there. For Mr. Wright.
Me all kinds of upset. Oh, my goodness. All right, come back next week. Let's see what, what ends up happening and we'll tell you how to avoid this because there's, there's definitely some ways that you can avoid that happening. But otherwise we are Betsy and Javon signing off with fraud facts and life insurance with agent verified.
