Diana, you can't inspire others to excellence you don't have yourself. Lead by example because everybody's watching. First encourage yourself, then model the behavior you want to see in others.

Diana, you can't inspire others to excellence you don't have yourself. Lead by example because everybody's watching. First encourage yourself, then model the behavior you want to see in others.
When people say to me, oh, Diana, I admire you so much, you're amazing. And I go, wait, stop. Then you have to be amazing because you can't see in me what you don't have in yourself. And as leaders, as self-leaders, we've got to encourage ourselves. More importantly, though, we have to take and make that encouragement and give it to other people. To help them. So as a self-leader, make certain that what we're doing— because everybody's watching— that we're doing and acting the way that we desire for our other people that are— we're leading to act.
