A late-night screening of The Sixth Sense in New York City shows why theaters matter: the collective gasp when the twist hits. Streaming made us comfortable at home, but nothing replaces the electricity of watching with strangers in the dark.

Yeah, it's special to be in the theater, you know what I mean? Like, it's like, it's there, there's just something that happens when you are around other people. And I think specifically to the last few years, you know, in 2020, we've gotten so complacent. But man, I used to go to the 1 AM movies in New York City and like just the energy that you would get just being in a room full of other people. I think about Sixth Sense all the time. Like, I watched that and like, you know, when the big reveal happened, people like, you could hear it in the audience, like it was wild. You know, I just, I just, there's nothing better than being around people, and we have to remember how to do that, especially with all the technology that's being thrown at us. It's like there's just something special about being physically with people, and this is a conversation piece.
